My mom died unexpectedly two weeks ago. I am having such a hard time dealing with this. I was already dealing with possibly having cancer again. I just need a little sympathy from some great people.

My deepest condolences.
We're here when you need us.
Also, I sincerely hope your health situation improves and you are found to be cancer free.
Best wishes.

This happened one year ago today. As you can clearly see, the Pope is looking directly at me and appears to be getting ready to wave. The only explanation that I can think of is that it was a slightly overcast day and my halo was glowing a little brighter then usual thus the attraction.

So I got that going for me. BTW the arm and hand in the picture is not mine so forget about possible identity pilferation.

Yep, the foreground is in very clear focus.
The Pope, not so much...! ;)

I was voter number 2. I let hubby be voter number 1. I must say I was got a sense of relief once my vote was cast. I knew for months who I was voting for but I think once I actually cast it I knew my job was done. I could do no more. I guess I should have voted early so I could have felt relieved earlier.
That's what we did with early voting. I was truly undecided through most of this election cycle. I was getting whip lash just listening to one side or the other.:in pain:

It's been a weird day today, I went to my great aunt's funeral today. She passed away last Thursday, she was probably the kindest and most giving woman that I've ever known. She was 94 so it wasn't totally unexpected but until the last year she still lived on her own and lived independently. The service was really nice but the weird part was afterward my uncle (who was really cruel to my mom) tried to be all buddy buddy with my sister and I. :grumpy: We didn't make a scene as it wasn't the day for that but we left shortly after. We felt we had paid our respects but didn't want to deal with family drama.
Ugh. Sadly I had the exact same problem with one of my uncles recently.

So sorry for your loss. Thr fact that the person was old and it wasn't unexpected doesn't make it any easier.

She's definitely got a lot of personality. At the same time, she really doesn't want to hurt anyone. She's never even hissed at a human. She's hissed at barn cats who come too close to the house, but if she doesn't trust a human, she'll hide. She's not aggressive at all. But she will occasionally bite my mom or me if she's unhappy with us moving her. In which case, we shove her off us and then ignore her. Eventually she comes back with a guilty look on her face and apologizes.

The only other time she'll try to bite is when she's playing. In that case, we sometimes play with her, but if she starts getting too aggresive, we give her a toy. She likes to sneak attack from the kitchen chairs. We'll walk by one of them and not realize she's there until she jumps up and whaps us with her paw. Sometimes I notice she's there and I move out of the way and she just hangs over the back of the chair, waving her paws at me:hilarious:
I love this story, you have a best pal!

Saw the funniest thing on my way to school. There's plans for a large mega church on one of the backroads I take to school. Residents really don't want it because of traffic problems that could ensue (quite frankly, I can't blame them; it would be a traffic nightmare).

Anyway, as you're driving down the road, there are a bunch of signs that say "Save our street!" "No Megachurch!" etc. Then right as you get to the end of the street, there's a sign there that says, "Thou shalt not steal signs.":cyclops::hilarious:

Even as expensive as public transportation is around here it is cheaper than driving, likely why we have so many people are on our Metra trains. By the time you factor in the cost of the vehicle lets say over 10 years. Cost of maintenance, auto insurance, gas. Plus we also have tolls. Our trains into the city also move much quicker than our expressways and tollways. Now out where I live there isn't any transportation that leads anywhere besides downtown Chicago so a major chunk of us are in cars due to lack of choice.
Us too. We just got a light rail a few years ago. And we have major drives to get anywhere.

You certainly don't need drama on a funeral day.

In Hilton Head, they're having an outdoor ice skating rink using synthetic ice. My reaction...

Every single adult member of my family going to Hilton Head with us...

And now we have the exact reason for why I did not learn to ice skate until college...
I loved ice skating, it took me away for a couple hours. I loved the feel of gliding around on the ice. We had an indoor rink, and it was groomed before each session.
