Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
When I'm asked a second time I just say I don't need whatever has been rung up. I've walked out of a store when after saying "no thank you", then after getting asked again" I guess really don't need this" and then getting asked again I just left the cashier with a rather large void to do. Some store put too much pressure on cashiers. The worst was when I already had the store's card out the cashier asking if I'd like to open another account:eek:

Priceless! At Target and Walmart they use to sign people up right there at the register and people behind were forced to wait as they set up an account. I asked the manager that came over to sign her up if they could move us and open another register. No sorry, it wouldn't take long. I had a lot of stuff on the belt table. I left. Don't do that often though I'd like to since I still have to re-shop for the stuff. I've also left grocery carts behind over the years at check out when they do not have adequate cashiers. It is annoying when you see 3+ employees analyzing the lines and yet wouldn't think of actually jumping in and servicing their customers on a register.

I rinse egg shells and put them in the compost for that reason:) I'm so cheap i even make my own compost:D

Yeah, I don't compost. Still come spring I do put eggshells in an old coffee can in the freezer in early spring. As I start to plant tomato plants in late spring some shells go beneath each plant. When planting I also work in old coffee grounds as earthworms love it and it keeps slugs away. But that is the extent of my composting.

indeed, not a fan of mondays. Specially when you have more to do than usual.

Neither I, most private areas forbid you to do that kind of stuff.. attracts cockroaches and rats.

I'm enjoying a nice quiet day before the storm. One of my boys has off and my dh has a 1/2 day tomorrow, then everybody gets off Friday for Veteran's day or as my dh calls it free breakfast and discount shopping day. His job hands out a sheet of all the local places that so something for the vets. I only have some cooking to do and a muslin to prepare and maybe another nice walk seeing it's in the mid 60s:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:

We can have compost bins. There are commercial ones you can purchase that are good at breaking down quicker and have been designed to keep bugs and critters out. I won't but I have friends that do.
I have a bin for food scraps and a pile but the pile is only for leaves and grass clippings so we don't get bugs. The only critters that have ever gone near the bin are the deer:hilarious:

Last two days have been just beautiful, high 60's, bright sun, little wind. Today DD and I drove like little fools all over Chicago Suburbs hitting the first of the Holiday Craft Fairs. So much fun.

@MouseDreaming I was in your next of the woods today and went to the fair at your kids high school today. Went from their to COD, now that wasn't a short detour.
What a great day for you. I'm glad it is staying warmer this year. Somehow, I'm very worried about February and March. We get lot's of snow at that time. We see our winter slipping later and later after that big earthquake in the Indian Ocean. Our sun set's and rises at a different angle since then.

I just looked at the collection online. That gray top is tempting. A lot of it looks really nice.

I bought It's a Wonderful Life a few years ago, and it is still in the shrink wrap. It has a great ending but I really have to be in the mood to watch it. I usually just catch bits and pieces on tv throughout the season.
Just too sad, for most of the movie. I love Christmas in Conneticut. It's great from beginning to end. I end up in a great joyous mood. I love the big fireplaces, that we had when I was a kid. The sleigh ride is so iconic. Remind's me of our childhood. When lived on a farm...not too far from my Grandparents. We did go in an old car. But, still wonderful.

I save nice sturdy boxes during the year. One time one of my boys thought he was getting dishwasher soap because dishes had become part of his chores. He was really happy to find it was a snow globe.
I love this story. We always prank out SIL, we had a bunch, of left of halloween candy last year. It was very heavy, we put it all in his box for Christmas. He had no Idea it was a gift card.

Both the farm markets I go to have an egg vendor that sell organic brown eggs and they will both take their cartons back and reuse them if they are clean and undamaged to help keep the cost down.:)
You have such a wonderful place to go to. Your farm markets are so much better than ours. I still keep trying them out, but they just keep failing in so many ways. Can you say, onions that can't be cut from being so hard. Colorado has to be the worst place to grown anything, but peaches, and corn! I'm now like hubby and can consume neither!

Turkey farms are very plentiful in our area as are wild turkeys. Yesterday as I was driving to my sister's house I passed a turkey farm and there were 2 wild turkeys in the field by the turkey farm. It was like the wild ones were taunting the ones in the farm with their freedom.

I also saw a bald eagle by the road, it was fun to see it swoop away.
Indiana had a lot of wild turkeys, too. Our aunt's always bought grocery store turkey's though!

68 here right now, predicted high for today of 76. We have yet to have any kind of significant cool front come through our area this year... :cyclops:

And, although I'm not a doctor in real life, I play one on the Internet ;), so I wrote you a prescription...

Has anybody checked out in line and you feel like just saying stop asking me questions to the cashier. Yes, I know it's there job. I worked at Walgreens, we were forced to upsell the candy or small trinket that was on the counter. But it's like enough is enough. I bought a tv because mine bite the dust.

Is that all today?
Do you want a warranty?
Do you want to donate to St. Jude's (Feels like a bad person by saying not today when you are buying a TV)
We can't move in a store right now, without being accosted by every store clerk, "trying" to sell something. I'm so frustrated, that I'm avoiding all stores. If I want "help", or pushing the sales, I will ask for it.
Only a couple questions but please cash me out and get me the hell away from here.
I so agree!

Jack just bolted up the stairs and ran to me with his tail wagging. Then he immediately ran downstairs. Why? Because hubs just brought him inside after an hour-long walk and run. Jack likes to extend the experience and always runs up here to me when he comes home--and then runs downstairs until he practically hits the wall, because he wants to keep running. Takes him a while to realize that the experience is over for the day.
What a great doggie! I love dog and cat owner's stories on here. They make my day!
