Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
It is the one on National Parkway, Hilton was running deals and I ended up getting it for $78 for the night and then tax. I really considered the Hampton Inn but that was more expensive. I want to say it was about $130, and even though it includes breakfast we will probably want to have a good hearty breakfast somewhere as my sister-in-law isn't a great cook. It was tempting since it is brand new though. We wanted to do a Hilton hotel, that will top off our points for the year.

There is an Egg Harbor close to there but at best there is WildBerry's (in a shopping center directly north of Woodfield (on the strip malls North West Side, by Costco) They have some very good and unique choices. Both are breakfast and lunch only and close around 2pm.

If you are leaving for home from Schaumburg there is also a Lou Malnati's about 10 minutes up Schaumburg Rd.

And a FYI for future vacations elsewhere too, Hampton is also owned by Hilton.

how do you "stuff" yourself in moderation?
you either go full or we dont call it "stuffing" ;)

It seems I always burn more calories than take in. I eat smaller amounts of food so it takes little for me to be full, tummies shrink or stretch out depending on the volume you take in on a regular basis. So even on days like Thanksgiving where I stuff myself I am still only eating in moderation cause when the vessel is stuffed it is all over.

I don't diet but I did wonder how with all the yummy things I do eat how I maintain my weight. My DD bought me a fitbit. After seeing the amount of steps I take in a day it calculates I burn more that I eat. Go Figure.

Ha!!! LOVE your response to the branch manager!!! I had a similar experience at Kohls one day--a very young floor manager was behind the cash register clerk, (the clerk was asking me the usual questions). When I said I still didn't want the store credit card (even with the 15% discount), the young floor manager CHALLENGED me to answer her -- she said, "WHY don't you want 15% extra off your purchase?" I told her, "One more question from you and I'm walking out of this store now." She shut up.
When I'm asked a second time I just say I don't need whatever has been rung up. I've walked out of a store when after saying "no thank you", then after getting asked again" I guess really don't need this" and then getting asked again I just left the cashier with a rather large void to do. Some store put too much pressure on cashiers. The worst was when I already had the store's card out the cashier asking if I'd like to open another account:eek:

Nope not happening. If bread can go moldy in a plastic bag so can the left behind bread crumbs. :depressed:

My friend uses bags from bread and newspaper to pick up after her Pup on walks. That to me is a better reuse.

Well, it's all a matter of comfort level then. Bread bags are fine to reuse--shake out crumbs--wash if really concerned. However, you may have inadvertently diagnosed the reason behind my insanity. :jawdrop: Obviously, I've unwittingly eaten mold crumbs (ergot--remember the old Salem trials, where some women ate moldy bread and began hallucinating and acting crazy?) It does explain a lot . . .:D

As for your 2nd sentence, I see people use any kind of bags they have to pick up, after their dogs do a dump! :p (It's the law in our area that you have to pick up after your dog.) I think cats were behind that law. :cat:

Thanks for the breakfast recommendations. I'll look into those.

Just out of curiosity... which one of your lives are you planning to enjoying? And in the words of Michael Corleone, "don't insult my intelligence" by saying the Tofu Turkey is enjoyable.

Another question... do egg shells decompose or always remain pieces of egg shells? Also, if they do not decompose how can they possibly be used as compost? If used as compost do they make plants grow with a protective armor type external skin? If they don't decompose wouldn't just smashing them with a hammer and spreading then on the earth work as well as wasting valuable compost space?;):joyfull:

I do enjoy my life and I actually like tofu. I've been eating it my whole life:joyfull: I'm not a fan of tofurkey, it's too close to fake food. One of the nice things about living near a major metropolitan area is the diversity of food. There wasn't much I didn't at least try when I was a kid. Same goes for my boys. They eat almost anything and everything:eek: BTW egg shells break down in a proper compost pile or bin.:D

Your welcome. I grew up around there when there was nothing but fields. My Dad was actually one of the Kazillion contractors that helped build Woodfield years ago. I was able to walk through the mall before it opened. Now the area can be as challenging to drive through as parts of DT Chicago.

And now I want to go to Wildberries. :hungry:

I've had food poisoning twice. Both from restaurants though. I am beyond cautious. The first time it was apparently from butter left on table, then back to fridge and back to table next day. (I no longer butter bread in a restaurant) I was beyond sick, thought I was going to die and actually during it all wished for it. Horrid.

Yeah we have the same laws here too. People are funny though and claim Pup owners do not look after what they leave behind on our Riverwalk. What they fail to think through is Pups are not the only critters that visit the wooded area. Where do they believe the deer, fox, coyotes, raccoons etc go...to the reststop off the tollway?
