In other news.. gran was at it again.
She insisted in preparing her tea.
Problem? she leaves the fire on and she might fall asleep or forget while watching Tv. (thats how she set a small fire months ago in her home).
I told her NO, that I would do it. She then complained that I should have let the herbs boil 20 more minutes to get the "juices" out.. :|
Then was angry that I wouldnt let her set the herbs on water and boil it again.
Then I went upstairs for my nap after prepared for my sister to arrive.
My sister did not come at the time I expected.
Anyway, When I woke up and I was ready to go to a party (that my sister was supposed to skip so she could check on gran) and went downstairs.. surprise.. someone had boiled ANOTHER ROW of tea.. and sure as hell it wasn't my sister. :banghead:

Then I get the surprise that my sister was only going to be there 20 minutes because "she decided to go to the cinema" wee sis.. how helpful of you!
anyway, after 3 hours.. I received a message that "just got out of the cinema" WHAT THE HELL. WHO IS LOOKING FOR GRAN THEN?
thankfully my sis insisted my gran was fine when she returned. Still not amused.
Got back from the family reunion.. and guess what.. found yet ANOTHER attempt at boiling herbs.. :/
I cant wait for my mother to return home.. x_x
Why 20 minutes, what does she mean by get the juices out?:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Oh dear. Elderly and cooking=disaster often. My Dad would nap through cooking. Was glad when he went to microwaving things. Though he'd brew coffee, not as dangerous as boiling tea at 3 am though 'cause he couldn't sleep. Yep, cause caffeine makes ya sleep. My Mom has been ordering out frequently. Blessing. She likely is better off cause her food doesn't bring great reviews. Getting worse with age.

I am baffled by your Sis but my Sis is due in next weekend. Yet when she is in she makes plans with friends, goes for long walks etc she is gone more than she is there. My niece is left with my Mom. Thank goodness for iPhones and laptops for her.

When does your Mom return?
tomorrow (aka today sunday) late night.

Besides my Mom is a great distraction now, a sideshow unto herself lately. I love calls from her neighbors...do you know what I just stopped your Mother from doing now???? 81 years old and in her second teenhood rebellious stage.

This takes me back years ago, when I received the "first" call from a neighbor . . . "Um, your mum's a little distracted . . . we found her roaming at the end of the street, and she told us she didn't know how to get home." And so it began . . . sympathy to you and your family, Gabe.

Yay packing done! I just finished mine about an hour ago with some last minute stuff. We leave for Disneyland tomorrow afternoon. I hope you all have a great trip! I hope your drive goes smoothly and I can't wait to read your trip report!

So happy for you and hubby, but to be honest -- I'm also JEALOUS!!! :in pain: I'm going back to work tomorrow, so please post an occasional picture of the fun you're having, so that I can vicariously enjoy the vacation!! ;)

have an awesome trip!

Thanks!

Have a wonderful trip. Cant wait for your your report and photo's.

Thanks! I just finished my last trip report last night.

Had a great visit with my DS. We went out to Cheesecake factory for his birthday tonight. Gosh did we all eat well. My Shrimp Cajun Jambalaya was awesome. As was the very nice glass of Reisling I had to wash it down. Best service too. To bad I had zip room for cheesecake. We also did not tell the staff it was his Birthday. It is an agreement we've held to for years and years. Not much into public displays.

I want cheesecake now, their Godiva one is my favorite. Happy birthday to your ds.

I admire your consideration for others and your own well being with ECVs. If you don't drive I'm guessing you live in Chicago proper?
Sure wouldn't work around here unless you were Ubering it daily.

Yes, I have lived in Chicago my entire life. Never no need to have a car, or learn to drive. Chicago has wonderful public transportation, and I can walk everywhere else that I may need to go to take care of my daily needs. My husband didn't drive until he was in his 40's. Actually the expense of having a car before that was prohibitive. Now he is a good driver, and so it's nice to have the car for trips, and grocery shopping. Cars have always scared me, quite frankly. I'd be a nervous wreck out there in that crazy Chicago traffic, and probably freeze, and cause a major accident.

We're really excited to see all the Potter stuff. Our first morning at least will be spent just walking and looking at everything no rides, just soaking it all in. I'm hoping not to go too broke in Diagon Alley!

My friends are super excited to buy themselves wands. I'm not so much in buying stuff/souvenirs. However, I'm likely to come home with hundreds of photos just from the Harry Potter areas of the park. I take pics of everything.
