Is Uni before or after your Disney portion of your trip? I've heard nice things about the Cabana's, I've only stayed at the Portifino which is very lovely.

If you need a break from the parks I suggest a boat ride to Portofino AT NIGHT and with a glass of something special walk the bay or sit at one of the waterfront tables and do some people watching there. It is beyond charming.

We have 7 nights at Pop Century, and then 3 nights at Cabana Bay. I am as excited to see the Harry Potter stuff, as I usually am about the Disney part of my vacation. It will be my/our first Halloween Party as well. Then of course, I will also celebrate my 69th birthday.

My Mom always said the day my Dad died she'd sell the place. Now it is like she never uttered those words she has said for over 15 years.
My Sis is very nostalgic and has beat into her head to stay, there are neighbors who watch out for her and her friends are all within 10 miles. She still drives during daylight hours but I can see that too ending in the future. She could stay in the same town just move to one of 100's of condo's in the general area. I won't add in my 2 cents until I see if she regains some of her sanity she has lost since my Dad passed.

My MIL is in a one bedroom, full kitchen, 2 bath and a livingroom dining room combo assisted living. Her buy in was $125,000 and it is about $3000 a month service fee. Between her social security and pension it covers that service fee. She sold the condo she lived in after that Senior Alert on her when she went missing in the mist and they found her up on the Wisconsin border near Beloit when her car ran out of gas about midnight in the middle of the road. Off to assisted living she did go.

Across from MIL unit (which is so pretty) is a 2 bedroom unit and there is a married couple in that unit-they are fully functional but picked it they said while they could use all the amenities. They have a full dining room and you get one meal a day but can buy a punch card to add extra meals if you wish or there is a deli type place too. Seems to be a good fit for her.
We are looking at those kind of facilities too. Will make life easier for our daughter when we are both gone.

I'm getting a bit of peace and quiet for a couple of days this week and it's only costing me a bit of cooking. All I have to do is feed my mother in law dinner tomorrow and send her home with some left overs and she'll take the boys for a few days! She forgot about our trip and thought she's see them more before school starts back:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: How could she forget?????? I think when the word Disney comes out of one of our mouths she just tunes out:eek::eek::eek::eek: She's one of those people who says "you're going again?":eek::eek:

Are your boys still willing to spend days at their grandparents homes? Mine hit about 8-9 and they were fine with visiting but wanted to go home at night from my Mom's. Before that I had to remind them they had a home here especially my son. My kids rarely went to my MIL house, never stayed the night. Her idea of entertainment was to take them to visit their elderly friends and relatives. They ground their heels in young that they'd only go to MILs if Dad went too. :joyfull:

My DD hooked up a new wireless printer for my Mom and she left it on so she didn't have to touch anything. Then she tells me the stupid thing doesn't work. The last time we were there I asked DD to look at it cause she heard all about it since DD was the one that installed the new computer and printer. (ahhhh) She came out and rolled her eyes at me and called Grandma into the room. Showed her the power button. DD: Grandma if you are going to turn the power button off you are going to have to turn it back on for it to print. :cautious:

No longer has my Dad to blame, ;) She constantly blamed him for messing the TV/Cable up in livingroom. Yesterday she told me she called the cable company cause the livingroom TV isn't working again. We always figured it was her. :arghh:

One of the few things that North Carolina got right. You have to have your car inspected to register it yearly. You don't get a sticker, the report goes directly to the DMV, if it passed you can renew, if not, back to the old drawing board. No stickers to worry about.

Exactly how Illinois works their emissions testing too. We have not had to display a sticker in decades.

I got a phone call today with the results of my X-ray from yesterday. The Xray showed that I definitely have a bone spur in my foot, and I also have tendonitis. The doctor's office was calling to make sure that I had made my appointment with the podiatrist. I informed them of my Tuesday appointment.

My trip is just 37 days away. I won't stress out too much about this, now that I have a diagnosis. I can now make an informed decision for my best plan of action to take care of my foot, and enjoy my up and coming vacation.

Hope it heals up quickly now that you know what it is. If all else fails you can rent one of these.

Much cheaper if you rent from an outside source and have it delivered to your resort. Still hoping you recover by then though.
