When I ruptured one of my discs I went to get out of bed and collapsed on the floor. I couldn't walk. Hubby took me to the emergency room, and an anestheologist gave me a Cortizone shot in my back. I was up and walking three days later. My Dr. says you can only have 3 of these shots in your life. I protect my back, like it's sacred!

I've heard so many conflicting reports about Cortizon shot maximums over the years from my own doctors. They don't even agree. I wonder if some areas like your back are even more disturbed by joint-ish degeneration? Do you think Doc meant 3 shots per area?

Thanks for the support. I am feeling so much better, just for the fact, that i had the foot looked at, and xrayed. Now I can move forward, and make an informed decision.

My husband loves to tease me. He says, lose a few pounds, and your foot pain will disappear. The man hasn't gained a pound in about 30 years. Me on the other hand have trouble with my weight in like forever. I love food, and all my hobbies are sedentary. My husband eats all the junk food, and I gain the weight.
Same way with me. I really have a broken thyroid, and eat only very small meals. So weight comes easily to me. I'm glad you are feeling better about your foot. I hope you get a good result. Go slow with your trip. I like what we call the "bench" program. Walk for a while, then sit on a bench and people watch. It's very fun to see what people are doing or wearing in the parks!

He was very specific, three shots in my lifetime. But, that was about 20 years ago, who knows what it is now? Maybe the shots don't have to be so strong?

Actually, I visited Universal just for part of a day back in 2012. I don't have a clue about restaurants. I wish I could help. I am looking forward to the Universal Part of my trip. We will be checking into Cabana Bay on September the 5th, and staying three nights. So we have 2 full days in the Universal Parks. I am mostly interested in the Harry Potter stuff. I am sure the other 5 people in my party will be trying to do everything else. We have 2 day, park to park tickets.
We are waiting to go to Uni , the youngest isn't tall enough to do all the rides. He is a dare devil and want's to do them all. Maybe next year. We only spent one afternoon too.

Whenever we have decorations or something new upfront Walt goes full out guard dog. Lord forbid should I put out the American Flag-it is all over then. :arghh:
We used to have this large deer, for Christmas...it was lit up, and it's head moved. Everytime the neighbor's dog came out it would ballistic. We brought it inside, and donated it. Didn't want to give the dog a heart attack! Or the neighbor either!

Is Uni before or after your Disney portion of your trip? I've heard nice things about the Cabana's, I've only stayed at the Portifino which is very lovely.

If you need a break from the parks I suggest a boat ride to Portofino AT NIGHT and with a glass of something special walk the bay or sit at one of the waterfront tables and do some people watching there. It is beyond charming.

I have stayed off my foot all day today, but tomorrow I need to get up early, and get outside and mow my grass. My backyard looks like a jungle. Hopefully, I can accomplish a lot before the heat, and/or my foot gets to me.
Oh, I hope you can get through that. Is there a teenager that would like to make a few bucks and do it for you? We don't have any teenagers in our neighborhood, mostly young kids. Take several breaks if you decide to do this. Stay safe.

I feel your pain. I'm dealing with a different but similar thing with my Mom since my Dad passed last month. She is now superwoman climbing, carrying, lugging and tree trimmer. Things she has not done in decades or never ever has done. Image: my Mother with Power Tools.

I know in my heart she is filling her time and as much as she gripped about my Dad it was her self designated role in life to wait upon Dad since she retired. She fueled his ways. At the present moment she doesn't know what to do with her time so she fills it with things that don't and should not be accomplished. She should not be in that house anymore. She should be in a condo like she had planned. I'm hoping and praying that this is just a short term frenzy and she doesn't hurt herself in the interim.
Hubby and I have had this conservation about what our living situation will be in a few years. Neither one of us want to be in a house without the other one. I'm looking forward to that stage, and major downsizing!

Ha! Funny. Around the corner a neighbor put out one of those huge blow up black cats for Halloween. It is animated and it does pause and then moves suddenly and has bright glowing eyes. Stands about 12 feet. That kitty is huge.

First time Walt past it in the evening he was so startled, swear he jumped sideways to get away from it. A couple days the same thing happened, so hilarious. Then he was waiting for it. Never reacted again but Walt would just glare at me, not the cat-me. oops.

We booked a hotel for the day we check out of the condo. It's in Orlando not out on the coast. What? Orlando is cheaper than anything nice out on the coast so why not save some money. That day was going to be for last minute shopping and taking our time going to the coast so my dh figured a morning commute to KSC isn't too bad and we haven't scheduled in a date night so the place we're staying is right near UNI. If nothing else we'll go to Citywalk for dinner and grab a cab back. I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever get home LOL
Don't go home, it will make my arm chair traveling longer!

I guess my doctor knows her stuff. The X-ray confirmed her diagnosis. I told my husband it would have been really stupid to have ignored this pain for the next five weeks, and gone on vacation not knowing what I am suffering from. Tuesday's appointment can't cone soon enough, and then I can plan my best option.
I hope all goes well for you and you can enjoy your vacation.

My Mom always said the day my Dad died she'd sell the place. Now it is like she never uttered those words she has said for over 15 years.
My Sis is very nostalgic and has beat into her head to stay, there are neighbors who watch out for her and her friends are all within 10 miles. She still drives during daylight hours but I can see that too ending in the future. She could stay in the same town just move to one of 100's of condo's in the general area. I won't add in my 2 cents until I see if she regains some of her sanity she has lost since my Dad passed.

My MIL is in a one bedroom, full kitchen, 2 bath and a livingroom dining room combo assisted living. Her buy in was $125,000 and it is about $3000 a month service fee. Between her social security and pension it covers that service fee. She sold the condo she lived in after that Senior Alert on her when she went missing in the mist and they found her up on the Wisconsin border near Beloit when her car ran out of gas about midnight in the middle of the road. Off to assisted living she did go.

Across from MIL unit (which is so pretty) is a 2 bedroom unit and there is a married couple in that unit-they are fully functional but picked it they said while they could use all the amenities. They have a full dining room and you get one meal a day but can buy a punch card to add extra meals if you wish or there is a deli type place too. Seems to be a good fit for her.
