Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I "think" this was the same group that also made a revolting scene at the funerals of some of our American soldier heroes, who gave the supreme sacrifice to our country, some years ago. This will be my only comment in Chit Chat about that so-called "religious" group--vile people.

This. Couldn't say it any better.

I don't look at unacceptable behavior as a religious topic. I plainly view any outlandish or any atrocity acts by humans just not tolerable no matter what label anyone tries to hide behind. Simply unacceptable, no excuses.

Early evening last night there were 4 military jets that flew overhead. First 2 and and about 5 minutes later 2 more. Dang those puppies are loud. She lives about 7 miles from Ohare, I am accustomed to noise but wooba those actually made me look up where airplanes overhead just go unnoticed.
We've had a lot of military planes, flying around here too. Probably to make us feel safer, or training flying.

So, more early Fathers Day fun...
I thought I already got my Fathers Day present a few weeks ago with the Ray-Bans. Apparently not. DWifey, the kiddos, and SonIL wouldn't tell me where we were goin'.
We started out here...

Whipped cream? You didn't mention whipped cream. Whipped cream makes it even better!!! :hungry: (One time I had a can of whipped cream, and it was delicious. Didn't have anything to put it on, and the only thing I could find in the cabinet was a box of Ritz crackers. Yup, ate a few crackers with whipped cream on top! :hilarious: (Necessity is the mother of invention . . . :p )
When I'm on a diet and want dessert, I take a Ritz, and put jam, blueberry, strawberry, etc, and a dollop of cool whip, lite. I swear it tastes just like blueberry pie. At least it does, when you really want a dessert.:hungry::hungry::hungry:

It's no doubt the same one. I don't know how long they've been picketing funerals, but it's been probably at least 20- 30 years. I saw Fred Phelps on the Ricki Lake show when I was still in high school and he had already started back then, going to funerals of anyone who had had AIDS. He moved on to military funerals about a decade ago, shortly after 9/11.

Minorly freaking out. I asked some friends a year ago if we could stay with them when we visit my dad this summer. We've stayed with them the last 2 trips. They said no problem. I let them know when we were looking at coming, they said it sounded fine, but to let them know when we had firm dates. So once we booked flights, we gave them the info and never heard back. Then a month ago, I reminded them of the dates and said I needed to confirm so I could make other arrangements if it wasn't going to work out. Didn't hear anything for 3 weeks, then they said, sorry, they'd been out of town, they needed to check the dates and get back to us....then this morning we get a message that it's not going to work out. 3 weeks before we're there. I have 3 weeks to find somewhere else to stay. I did find a hotel room for $45 a night on weekdays, but Friday nights cost $105. I'd rather not spend any money on a hotel as we didn't budget for that, thinking we'd be staying with friends. Looks like our itinerary is going to change!

I don't think the fences (wooden post and rope ) are to keep the gators out but more to keep the people in. They may not be the final solution but something had to be done straight away.

Well, since others have chosen to bring this into this thread, I'll play, too.
Yes, I completely agree with you on the intent of the "fences".
But, once you set that precedent, if you ever take them down in the future and another attack happens, you are beyond toast in court.
If this is true, this is beyond stupid knee-jerk stuff IMHO. Have there been cutbacks in Disney's legal team, as well...?!

True but i can see something more than fences being put up. What i don't know but i don't see the fences being permanent because you are going to get some "clever" people swinging and leaning on them.

I think Disney is just still numb at this point and scattering around for quick solutions, when they should take a deep breath and take some time to clearly analyze this. I get the immediacy, but, sometimes that does not bring rationallity.

Just like how you don't go near geysers in Yellowstone or take selfies with wild animals. Bottom line is...you need to research before you take a vacation to a place you have never been.
ohh, freaking this!
I cant believe people then complain about parks being insecure. Even when theres warnings everywhere.. People do stupid things like trying to take selfies with BEARS, MOOSE or even a freaking BISON!!

Maybe Disney's legal thinks the family that lost their son has a huge chance of winning?. It only needs a lawyer that can convince the family about the $$$$.
