I wish I had your strength with the family. She, (sister), has called me ugly, stupid, and a scaredy cat my whole life. She was 2/1/2 years older than me. My parents told me to respect her as she was older. I have walked on eggs for many things in my
life, parent's favorite saying was respect your elder's, and speak nothing against them. You have probably caught on to that ;
being the youngest, I had to be silent. I endured unspeakable things in my life, as I was afraid to speak out. Yes, that was wrong, but when you are brought up in a judgmental religion, you don't know any better, especially when you are isolated from other people in your formative years. College virtually saved me. I went to I U. A very liberal college, let's just say my eye's were opened to another world. My Mom hated the person I became, at college. She couldn't control me anymore. But sister has taken her place. I'm too tired to fight anymore. I endure, and move on. Disney has been my and hubby's sanctuary/ He was very abused by his father...hit in the face with a hammer etc. His father had 43 jobs over his life for hitting his bosses. He didn't speak to me, and our 2 year old daughter for me telling him he was abusive. I then said I don't care if you don't speak to me, but I will not let you abuse his 2 year old grand daughter. Hubby and I left and said we wouldn't ever come back to see them. When he died, we were best friends with his mother. We had great times together. She was a nicer mother to me than I have ever had. I still say a prayer on her birthday. She was very abused physically in her life. That was a time when women had no rights. We came to love and understand each other. Her husband tried to control her and me and daughter, and my hubby with abuse. I stopped his actions, by saying he couldn't control me or daughter, and hubby stood up, as he was beat up from his father from the time he was about 2. We left their house, and didn't return until we got a phone call from hubby's Mom. She said his dad wanted to set things straight. His father chickened out, and didn't apologize for his abuse to our family. We flew from K.C. to set things straight. We went out with hubby's mother, she was a kind and caring lady, I loved her dearly. I never forget her birthday, groundhog day, and say happy birthday to her. Things work out, sometimes with stress. I'm sure we have our stories. This is just one of ours. Thanks for listening.
On the way home from Disney we used to stop and see my dh's granfather until his wife # whatever started saying nasy things about Asians, blacks etc. I would not subject my kids to her any more!

Yum! I like putting hot fudge on mint chocolate chip, it makes it extra heavenly.

Whipped cream? You didn't mention whipped cream. Whipped cream makes it even better!!! :hungry: (One time I had a can of whipped cream, and it was delicious. Didn't have anything to put it on, and the only thing I could find in the cabinet was a box of Ritz crackers. Yup, ate a few crackers with whipped cream on top! :hilarious: (Necessity is the mother of invention . . . :p )

People should also be aware of snakes in the water too, personally I'm more afraid of a seeing a snake in the water/pool than a gator. I've seen snakes fished out of the water there and in almost 30+ trips to WDW I've never seen a gator on property (and I've looked too).

I've seen both over the years in different spots. (In past years, I've also read that they've occasionally removed snakes in the morning (before the park opens) from the lazy river areas of Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.)

Never stopped me from enjoying the lazy rivers, but I've kept an eye out--although, I wasn't really all that concerned when there's a pile of people in the water during the day. I suspect snakes tend to come out at night or early in the mornings at the water parks, when it's calm there, without people splashing around and making noise. Never saw any gators there. The gators I've seen over the years were few and far between, and were hanging out in swampy areas on property.

I decided to watch the original Parent Trap tonight. It is such a great movie. I'm glad hubby isn't here right now because I can speak along with about 3/4's of the movie. I remember one summer I watched this movie everyday, it drove my poor mother nuts. ;)

Do you mean the one with Hayley Mills? I loved that movie!!! (Haven't seen it in ages, but have seen it multiple times.)

I won't be packing any veggies until about 4 am on the morning we leave. Yes I'm bringing salads for the ride down.:joyfull:

Oh, how I'd love to play devil's advocate, and sneak in some candy bars for the boys in their carry-on bags.

Mother: "Boys, how are you enjoying your healthy salads?"

Boys: "Oh, they're healthful and nutritious, mother." (Boys secretly munching Hershey bars in the back . . .) :hilarious:

I remember some of the best ice cream I ever had was on Main Street. There is some thing special about it besides the price LOL

I agree. The ice cream parlor on Main Street USA has always been a favorite of mine. Haven't a clue what kind of ice cream they use and don't care, because I like it. :hungry: (Good tasting ice cream doesn't always have to be some designer brand.)

I forgot about the whipped cream. Why doesn't it surprise me that you could eat a whole can of whipped cream and think to put it on crackers.:)

they know some guests can be freaking stupid (like feeding the gators from the Polynesian huts)

I believe some is an understatement. Tragic, yes but the internet is overreacting blaming Disney, blaming the parents. If anything, blame the people that feed them.

Should Disney do more? Probably. They are building a fence in that area now. Not sure how a fence will work but hey, whatever makes you sleep at night.

I never been to Australia but you can be sure I will never go in the water there and watch out for snakes and spiders. Why? Everything can kill you down there. Just like how you don't go near geysers in Yellowstone or take selfies with wild animals. Bottom line is...you need to research before you take a vacation to a place you have never been.

Early evening last night there were 4 military jets that flew overhead. First 2 and and about 5 minutes later 2 more. Dang those puppies are loud. She lives about 7 miles from Ohare, I am accustomed to noise but wooba those actually made me look up where airplanes overhead just go unnoticed.
