Doesn't matter to me what his motivation was as long as he did the job he was asked to do. In most of his movies, TFA included, he was great and believable. That is all we should ever ask of a movie actor. How can he let himself get involved emotionally? Next week he will be doing something else totally unrelated to Star Wars. He probably doesn't need the money though, but, can see that promoting it and the Disney projects will be lucrative and if he truly hated it, he can afford to tell them all to take a hike. So he likes it enough to not feel that his reputation will be hurt by supporting it in promotion. Whatever his reason no one is happier then I that he decided to revive the roll of Hans... it made the movie in my opinion.

So I guess I will accept that you are not impressed. I will agree that he has the same personality, which is probably his own, in pretty much every movie he has done. Sort of like James Garner and Patrick Warburton. Just a good one for most of their projects. He (or they) probably couldn't do Macbeth, but, they are good with what they do.

He was the "new" manly man in the 60's. I didn't like his genre of movies, so no appeal to me.
