Do you use studded tires? They were banned in Wyoming because they rip up the road if there's no snow. There are times that trucks are required to have chains, but then they have to take them back off when the roads are clear again.

We are allowed to have them from mid October until the beginning of May. They are horrible for unfrozen roads. We don't use studs but I would if they were cheaper.

I have been thinking what we could do differently for Christmas dinner this year. Due to a variety of circumstances, it looks like it will just be my hubby and I for dinner on the 25th. I didn't want to make a whole big turkey. Thought it could be a chance to do things a little differently. When I looked at the prices of goose, duck, lamb, etc., I wasn't convinced I wanted to splurge. (He and I always go out for this special Victorian Christmas goose dinner in December anyway.) I didn't want to just roast a breast because white meat is our least favourite.

Watching yesterday's episode of The Chew today, I found the perfect solution. Batali was cooking turkey Scallopini. It looks sooo good. So that's what we are having and I am very excited. Here is the recipe. (We ar making different sides. Not interested in the celery root mash.) http://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/re...cider-gravy-and-celery-root-mash-mario-batali

I didn't know there was a such thing as snow tires until I was on these boards. I don't know what I thought y'all did up where you get lots of snow. I guess I thought maybe you had magical cars immune to the effects of winter. :hilarious:
I hope you don't need them for a while as well.
I hadn't bought snow tires in 30 years. Even in Vermont all season tires did the job with no problem, especially on a front wheel drive vehicle.

It's crystal clear and 74 here right now. :)

And, no BBQ in site 'round here at the moment, although I am drinking water from a Rudy's BBQ cup...! ;)
