The only rules we have is that you can't park overnight on the street in the winter or you can get ticketed and towed as it interferes with the city's snow removal. But why would you have to plow sidewalks yourselves? Isn't that public property? Shouldn't taxes cover it?
It's the city law. We have to clean the sidewalks. It's been that way since we came here. I don't know why the city doesn't do that, except they don't want to raise taxes to pay to have it done.

I didn't know there was a such thing as snow tires until I was on these boards. I don't know what I thought y'all did up where you get lots of snow. I guess I thought maybe you had magical cars immune to the effects of winter. :hilarious:
I hope you don't need them for a while as well.

Haha... No worries. I didn't know about them either until I moved to this province. We get snow in the province where I grew up but not enough to need anything but all-season tires. My city now, though, is like the snow capital of the world, I swear. We wouldn't make it very far without them...especially before the streets have been plowed in the morning. There are people here who even put chains on their tires but I haven't gone that far.

Oh, high school tutoring. Where kids are forced by there parents to be there and it clearly shows that they do not want to be there. :banghead:

I had this one student who thought bringing all of her friends to tutoring was okay. Most annoying student ever. I almost told her I wasn't tutoring her anymore because I felt like she was just taking advantage of my time. I had to issue a "no friends" policy across the board, and one time, she tried to disobey that rule, and I got up and left. I actually saw her not too long ago as she goes to the school where I take Spanish (I usually run into people from high school. I like at my school that I almost never run into people from high school). Thankfully, I was walking with someone from my class talking to that person so I passed her and did not have to talk to her, although I could tell she recognized me. I haven't had such a thing happen tutoring college kids yet, although those kids are usually there because they know they need to improve their grade, so their reasons are different.
Our tutoring was through the school. The top 4 students in the senior class were hired as tutors and every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evening were the tutoring days. Anyone could just walk in to get help. Students with a D or below in any core subject (English, Math, Science, or Social Studies) was required to go on the night for that tutoring...so English was Monday, Math was Tuesday, etc. If you had a D or below in Math, you HAD to come to tutoring on Tuesday night. If you WANTED to, you could come any night to get help from the tutors, but Tuesday was the only day that one of the math teachers was also present, in case the tutors couldn't handle it or we were swamped. But the result is still the same...most of the kids who came were forced by the school and didn't want to be there. But we were paid by the school district, so I figured, I get paid whether there are kids to tutor or not. If no one shows up, I get paid for doing my own homework. It was a pretty good gig, even with the kids who didn't want to be there.

That could be it. Maybe we pay more taxes? I know that we do when it comes to income tax and sales tax up here in Canada. I don't pay the property tax bill for my residence though so I don't have a clue what it is. We have great service from the city though so I never thought to inquire.

Do you use studded tires? They were banned in Wyoming because they rip up the road if there's no snow. There are times that trucks are required to have chains, but then they have to take them back off when the roads are clear again.

Good morning everyone. I am up and at 'em...even though I feel so tired I could just crawl back in bed. But it's off to my office I go. Quite a bit of work to get done this morning. Blah.

Hubby is off to get the winter tires put on but hopefully we won't really need them for another month. Fingers crossed.

Jersey Day at school today so I spent an hour last night trying to find a soccer jersey that hasn't been worn in 2 years. (Tried to convince my child that a gi is a jersey for karate but that didn't work.) Found the jersey in the nick of time in the costume trunk. Still fits though as it was huge when the kids got them.

Karate and meeting for me tonight. Busy busy busy. Yuck.
I hope your day goes well. Don't work too hard.
