So I went to talk to the associate dean today about my Finance professor. I wasn't the first student concerned about grades, but I was the first to bring to her attention the fact that my professor has been unprofessional. When I told her what he had said about us being the dumbest group of college students he had ever taught, she was completely horrified. Then she called in the Dean of the business school and had me repeat what I had just told her to him. She said that was very serious. So now I'm going to have to talk to my classmates and she said any unprofessional behavior from him should be reported. I think I'm going to record his next lecture so that she can see. She asked me if what she observed the day that she visited our class was different from his usual behavior, and I said yes, and she said multiple people had told her that.

As for grades, she said there's nothing she can do about it for now, but if I don't like my grade, I can submit an appeal, and she said if she receives enough, she'll raise the grades for the class.

The Dean was super nice though. I had met him in group settings, like during orientation, but had never personally spoke with him. He asked me what grade I was currently getting in the class and what my GPA was. When I told him 3.8, he smiled and said, "Is that all? What were you doing, slacking off, that you couldn't do better?" He thanked the associate dean for introducing me to him. He said he likes meeting the school's best and brightest. Made my morning.

So happy for you. I'll bet this will be worked out, if enough people report the professor. Here's hoping for you and the rest of your classmates.

They sound like good people. I'm glad they're taking this seriously and hopefully everything will work out in the end.

Good morning all. I'm pretty tired today, I got sad news yesterday, my brother's first wife passed away yesterday, Not expected. I liked her a lot, she was fun to be around, and the nice big sister to me. Even though, she remarried it's hard to think she is gone.
I'm so sorry!! That is hard. She will always be your sister, married to your brother or not. Will you be able to attend the funeral or did she live far away?

Our firm has taken on several fire re-design/re-builds, refurbishments, and remodel projects of homes over the years.
Going there to take measurements and pics is always so very heart-wrenching.

We have neighbors on the street behind us who's house was badly damaged in a fire about 9 years ago, but, even though it wasn't a total loss, they had to get a hotel room for the night.
The firefighters thought they had it all out and all potential hot spots taken care of. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Another fire sparked in the middle of the night and burned it to the ground. They lost everything.
We knew them from our oldest DD going to school with their only daughter and she was also in DWifey's Girl Scout troop with oldest DD for many years. She was born with Muscular Dystrophy and had (and still does have many issues - although she graduated with a Masters from The University of Texas not all that long ago).
They were having financial issues at the time and didn't have nearly enough homeowners insurance to cover everything.
Along with the father, he and I came up with a knew design very much with their daughter in mind. Most of the existing slab/foundation was used, as it was deemed safe after inspection, with a few additions. I did all the needed drawings at night in my spare time, and there was no way in heck I was gonna' charge them one red cent.
So many folks donated time, material, and treasure to turn that tragedy into a rebirth and renewal. They were beyond grateful.

BTW, the house turned out fabulous. ;)

What a nice ThanksGiving-ish story. A genuine lemons to lemonade tale.

One of the girls my DD befriended early on in school has always been a wheelchair most of the time she was born with CP. They too had to do some major rework to their home as she grew taller and heavier. No fire but a boatload of money they could not afford.

My favorite memory of her is when she was about 6 years old she was given a Barbie battery operated car. She had a manual wheelchair but the Barbie Car gave her the freedom at our fests and events to tootle around on her own.

Amen. I hope the Deans take a look into his grades now so they have a feel of what is coming at them within the next month. If that Professor has a brain he will fix them before the Deans need to. It might even be suggested to the Professors by the Deans without communicating that to the students.

Be careful with recording. We tried to record a teacher in high school who was like that and not only did the recording not work well, but the principal was not happy with us for doing that because of privacy and yada yada.

In high school I can see it being an issue. But college kids record lectures on a fairly regular basis. I'll double check, but I wouldn't expect it to be an issue.

If I can pull everyone away from Harrison Ford for a minute... I'd like to tell you a true story. Today, I was talking with some people that live in my apartment complex. The conversation went like this.

Them: Hey, how are you. We haven't seen you around for a few weeks, is everything OK.
Me: Oh my yes, everything is fine I have just been away on vacation and I got back last Sunday.
Them: Wow, that is great... where did you go?
Me: I went to Europe for a few weeks and then took a cruise back.
Them: Man, that is great... Did you drive there?
Me: o_O:facepalm::banghead:

Doesn't speak well of our current education system does it? :bookworm::joyfull:
