You work very hard @donaldtoo. I hope things get better for you and DWifey.

Thank you so much, but, we're perfectly fine. :)
Just so much unexpected craziness with BILs move.
He just went through a nasty divorce. They have shared custody of our niece, but, he has her for the school year and she has her for the summer. Not to get too deep into it, but, I have never seen a mother be so NOT a mother in my entire life.
Also, MIL (who lives with them) ended up in the hospital for a week up here, with a severe kidney infection, just after he started working in Houston (he's with the Texas juvenile criminal justice system and accepted the transfer because it came with a $1500 a month raise and he doesn't have to travel anymore - can't blame him) during the week and coming back up here on the weekends, before the sale on their house up here closed.
It's just been a bit nutty, but, we're all gettin' through it like we always do...! :)

@Eric1955 , I loved all the pictures you took while you were out at D23 and Disneyland, with your family. In particular, the one with you next to Walt's statue, and also the one with you meeting Leslie Ann Warren were both so sweet.

I thought of you last night when I saw a brief preview of the American Experience on PBS. That's a wonderful history show, and guess what? On September 14 & 15, they're premiering a new show on Walt Disney! You might want to check your local PBS station to see what time they're showing this in September. (I think if you go to the PBS web site, under American Experience, you type in your local area and it may then tell you what time or dates the show will air for you.) :)

I'm glad you liked them. We had a wonderful time, and I really enjoyed sharing my pictures.

Thank you for telling me about the Walt Disney documentary. I've been eagerly anticipating it, but a video they released this week has made me nervous about how they're going to portray Walt. I'll be watching it, but I'm definitely worried now.

Does anyone remember seeing the MSEP at Disneyland sometime in 1988. Because a special parade float was created which featured Mickey Mouse on top of a birthday cake celebrating his 60th Birthday that year. Donald was on the Drum unit.

I missed that. I had been in Disneyland in the mid 80's but not the later. My DS first trip to WDW was in 1988 for Mickey's 60th he learned to walk the day before we left for vacation so it was an amazing trip for us. He had spent the night at my Mom's so I could pack. Fell on the driveway and had a huge lump on his head. We went to the original DTD that day we arrived and he tripped on one of those old fashioned paths through the grass that had flag stone and the bump got bigger. I asked first aid for some ice, they said sure one moment. I see the paramedics pull up wondering what was going on....it was for my DS. :jawdrop: After I signed my sons life away they gave me an ice pack.

That year and next were great years celebrating Mickey's 60th at WDW, the tent shows, the animals, the meet and greets in Mickey's Birthday land were awesome for a toddler and young parent. A great land just for little folk. Good times, good memories. Me, I liked Mickey's Birthdayland more than the current Circus though the extra Dumbo was a needed addition.

I have one of these!

Awe! Wish I did. My Mom was not a memory person. She tossed everything from my childhood. Me as a result saved so many little memory moments for my kids. My son recently when home had cause to look for cuffs his grandfather willed to him in his Jewelry Chest. That is where I've stuffed for years tiny tokens of his past he didn't care about at the time. He must have spent an hour going down memory lane. Made me happy that I stashed the stuff.

I wonder if its because people complained to Disney after some kids died in the pool of the Fantasy.. (or was it the Dream?).
Regardless, I still find funny that the Parents who were too busy drinking in the adults pool area.. werent even caring about what their "precious" were doing.

I don't think that was what happened. I was a very protective Mom and every once in a while a kid breaks away from ya. On a ship as crowded as those decks are when the ship leaves port it is difficult to find a little squirt in the sea of tall people. Disney put lifeguards in place after the young boy broke away from his folks and they immediately tried to find him and notified staff. The child lived but has many issues as a result. International Maritime Law is an odd holdover of lack of responsibility for just about any responsibility while out at sea. More sail at your own risk, little legal responsibility. One Cruise Line has always had lifeguards, Disney finally followed suit. It has always bothered me that Disney being a family orientated Cruise line never had lifeguards only deck attendants. If it was from guest pressure, marketing or legal I'm glad they finally posted lifeguards. While lifeguards are not baby sitters when something does go wrong at least they are properly trained first responders something that little tyke could have used. Disney never announced the addition of lifeguards. One sailing they were poof just there.

I agree it's always been around, but it seems worse now and the way kids are being bullied is even more humiliating, especially with the internet's popularity. I don't remember it ever being this bad growing up. I was bullied for a while in elementary school, but it pretty much stopped once I got to junior high.
It's horrible now. I was bullied in middle school pretty badly by this one girl. She would stop me in the hallway, especially if I was alone, and call me names, taunt me, laugh at me, call me fat, etc. She would bring her friends and they would basically create a wall around me so that I could not escape. I would try to stand up to her, tell her to go away, etc., but it never worked, except for that one time my one friend, who could get really scary when she was mad, told her to turn around and walk away before the girl could even open her mouth. It got to the point that I was afraid to walk alone in the hallways, though. I reported it to the administration when it happened. Know what the administrator said? "Oh, typical girl trouble." I even got in trouble for telling her to shut up. Really? There are a lot worse things that I could have said to her.

My dad finally made a phone call to the administrator. Let's just say the problem stopped after that.:cautious:

In retrospect, I am glad that my parents made the decision to not allow me to have social media until I was older. I was on sites where I was anonymous, like this one, in high school, but no Facebook (or MySpace, which was the popular website for a while) or anything with my name on it until age 18. I could have an instant messaging account and email, but nothing else. I think it probably saved me from a good deal of bullying, especially in middle school. Maybe in high school too, although my one friend said he never really observed it by then.

The fourth I think.

It's not too bad. I don't think it ruins the view of the castle or anything. A bit of an eyesore, but okay.

Now the stage in front of the Chinese Theater...that's a different story.

Yeah, the stage at the Chinese Theater is just a PR nightmare. Remove Hat obstruct the view with a cheap stage.

They have been restoring that Theater so nicely and yet blow the imagineering again with the sticking that stage before it. As clever as Disney's Imagineering is at times I have to wonder what the heck they are thinking at times.

Hahaaa...!
The last scary movie I saw at a theater (not a drive-in) was "Terror Train" in '80.
I went with 2 female friends of mine, Denise and Martha.
Woof, was I ever bruised after that flick...! :D ;) :)

It was in that same time frame that I saw Carrie with a guy friend and some other friends. That movie creeped me out. He went home bruised I'm sure. A very good friend I've misplaced over the years. Hope he recovered. :inlove:

I'm sorry you had to go through that. :( But I'm glad your parents did something about it - some parents have the same attitude of "kids will be kids" as well.

I think bullying among girls is what happens more often now and they can be worse than boys. When I was bullied it was by boys who would call me names, but I'd get mad and start kicking them (I've always been a tomboy). Although that didn't stop them from picking on me again. :grumpy:
