We had to be in when the lightning bugs come out. :)

Wow. That sounds really cool. It must have been like seeing all these little flashlights going off -- similar to fireflies, I think. Reminds me of a long time ago when the family went to Cape Cod and we visited some of my parents' friends, who had summer homes down there. I fondly recall one evening when about 8 of us went out for a nice summer's evening stroll and all these fireflies were lighting up the path for us! :)

On Monday you could only get around a few ways, lived here 30 years so I know what goes first. I was actually on my way home from the store when the huge rains started and continued. My DD had to find a different route home from work. After a few hours my road was gone, it looked like a creek, garage when I opened the door (dumb) the water went halfway into the garage and on the back of the property I had a lake. We have dips in the road through our town and those are still closed but getting better. Most of the main roads were open again by mid day Tuesday.

We are suppose to have some isolated big storms this morning and then later in afternoon. My potted plants are actually popping out of the soil. Fortunately the tomato plants were potted in April and the roots are keeping them down.

You guys are dealing with some serious water. I can imagine that must get to you after a while. It's almost like being stuck in a (water) prison. I'll bet you can't wait for the sun to come out and for the waters to subside.

Thank you, I am much better. My grandmother on dad's side was native American, from the Blackfoot Tribe....I think those genes makes me stronger.

Well that's great that you have strong genes! Have to mention that the Blackfoot reference reminds me of pencils we had in grade school. The pencils were called the Blackfeet Indian Pencils and they were brown; that's all I remember. They were the only pencils that the nuns let us use in class. I think, at one time, they actually were made on the reservation somewhere out West. :)

Can someone explain to me why a town of 36,000 had 6 fire districts. Now we have 4. Why not have one: people don't want to lose power. My fire district just got voted to close. It was either that or increase taxes. Hopeful the stupid state doesn't step in to give the fire district money.

Which they did to another fire district which begs the question: why vote at all?

O.k. I read this 4 times trying to figure out what happened. I "think" you're saying that your 6 fire districts in your town has been lowered to 4. Then you said people don't want to lose power. I'm trying to get the connection to people losing their electricity (power) and fewer fire districts? o_O

As to the voting question, I can't answer that one. My experience with voting is to pick the person (or vote on a cause or issue I'm interested in), and then hope for the best. Voting is always a carp shoot, but sometimes you get lucky. :)

My previous dog was a lab/shepherd mix, about 55 pounds, and she lived with us for 15 years. That was a long time for a dog. I miss her, and still keep her picture on my desk at work, next to Jack's picture.

Belle and Ranger are our 8th and 9th family dogs. We've actually had 2 of them live 'til 12 and 14. Although, those were smaller shepherd mixes that we got from DWifey's side of the family in their middle years.
