I've never attended D23 but over the last few years I've read quite a few trip reports and tweets about it along with many lifestyle website reports about the highlights. Overall it seems D23 has some years that are better than others and the organisation is better over the years. Just do your homework, know when to line up to get into the events you have picked out as that seems to be a problem that has occurred over the years.

I think you would really enjoy it and many many people do it on their own, sometimes meeting up with other members out there from time to time. As for Disneyland, for us WDW fans it is sure a place to visit at least once, it does offer a different experience. It will be crowded during the D23 time so if you can try and schedule yourself some extra time before or after D23 to catch all the attractions you want to see. I grew up with Disneyland as in my early childhood there was not a WDW. It is also where I spent my Honeymoon. Thinking you would have the time of your life.

Good advice. Since it's the 60th anniversary of Disneyland I'm hoping there will be some good events this year. I'm interested in seeing events with former imagineers that knew Walt. People like Rolly Crump, Bob Gurr, and Marty Sklar. That would be great. And for visiting Disneyland I definitely plan on scheduling some extra days to do that.

I asked a gardening friend and she said those may be purple lupines.

1. Since @ajrwdwgirl and @Wrangler-Rick took pix of the St. George statue, at the Germany Pavilion on their trips, I took one too! It's not nearly as good as the pix they took, but I thought I'd join in the "tradition" of taking a piccie of St. George!
2. This was an animal carving at the base of the Tree of Life in AK
3. Rafiki !!! :happy: (Inside Conservation Station in AK; my flash didn't work, so not great :() But I really like Rafiki, so I put him here.

I think your picture of the St. George statue looks great. Thanks for sharing your pics.

At least two hours from our time zone. Makes it hard for me...grandpa adapts better than I do. Of course, dr. gave me sleep pills, as dad never slept more than three hours...daughter...no more than 5 hours...I fluctuate between the two. In the past ...hubby slept through everything....so I would get up and sweep with vacuum, dust, run dish washer and clean refrigerator , or bathrooms. Now , I'm still awake from 1 to 3 AM. I took my baby Wiggles, our last doggie at that time , for a bathroom break. Habit's are so hard to break. But while I'm laying in bed (too old to get up and do housework) As all doggies have passed. I think of all my loved ones....Mom, Dad, brother, and doggies. I think they are all enjoying each other . In the after life. And I say a prayer for the world, or my "new" friends on the internet. All this ....plus the sound of the weather channel puts me back to sleep.:inlove:

That is sweet. :inlove:

My families solution for me in my insomniac years was to buy me a mini tablet for my night table with a good case, it also opens like a book. It passes the time until I drift back to sleep. It is about the size of a Kindle or a book. I have a regular tablet and a laptop but this one works well for both traveling and my night table.

I think it was less than $200 and I can surf the web until I drift off again.

@Lucky - Thanks!

So my 1st day as a 40 year old...

-Found out someone hacked into my eBay account... Got it fixed before they could run charges up. :mad:

-Husband had military duty all weekend (national guard) :(

- Had to work (tutoring) :bookworm:

In spite of it all - I still feel like I'm 25 and blessed beyond measure! :angelic:
If it's any consolation, you could look at it philosophically and realize that 40 is as close to 25 as you will ever be again.;) There... feel better now?:) Oh, and Happy Birthday. On the more plus side, I am just shy of 67 and I feel, mentally, like I am 25 as well. That usually sticks around for most of our lives. When you feel old, is when you become old, just don't do it.:angelic:

Now, if you want a life changing event that rocks your world, I read this morning that Paul McCartney has stopped smoking pot because he wanted to be a good example for his grandchildren. I don't have a problem feeling that stopping that is probably a good thing, but, emotionally it is the signal that age is a reality. I was perfectly happy in denial, why did he have to burst my bubble. :arghh::cry::grumpy:
