The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

My parents and I have all bought several cars since about 2018, me from Honda and them from GM. We have always found better rates through the dealership. Interest rates overall are excessively high right now, so I wouldn't expect them to run 0.9% APR. They were also offering a deal for $500 if you financed through them. I think the lowest interest rate I could find elsewhere was maybe 3%.

In what way was my statement implying that? Also, you know I'm a well-educated adult who has been in the business world for several years now, so why not assume that I do in fact understand how businesses work?

That’s great. Again, we haven’t had a loan out on a car in years.

And, again, mostly rhetorical, as I already stated I knew you knew better.

@donaldtoo I see your latest post. Happy you know about Hospice resources. We had such a positive experience with them when my grandmother passed. Thoughts and prayers as you figure out the next steps.

Thank you for both of your posts…!
Sorry, I was helping, and she’s mostly calmed down now.
Yea, I think it was just the rehab facility, and, frankly, she’s been pretty cranky these days, although who wouldn’t be if you were that immobile, had to wear adult diapers, etc.
She’s 87. My Mom and Pop are 84 and 91, respectively, and are still ambulatory and in pretty good shape, fortunately.
I was visiting with them the other night and discussing the situation. They just said when it’s their time, it’s their time to go to a facility.
It’s gonna’ suck, but, getting old is what it is.
Both of my folks were born and raised on farms in south-central Texas.
My Pop had a younger brother that was oxygen-deprived at birth.
It got to the point where they were going to lose the farm attending to his every need, and not being able to make a living.
He ended up in a state facility, and passed there in his early 30’s (mid 1960’s).
I remember us visiting him once, and he was having major issues because he wouldn’t stop picking at one of his ears.
Anyway, I digress.
Thank you again for your concern, support, and suggestions…!!! :)

Thanks.
She’s going to have to go to hospice pretty soon, as things are only going to get worse moving forward.
To answer your question, we are looking into day nurses, but, that can only last for so long, too.
Not sure if you remember, but, I posted about her falling the evening of our first evening in our new home. She ended up in a rehab facility for a month before we could bring her home, and she absolutely detested it. Carolyn brought her food every day, because the food was terrible there, etc.
She’s a good woman from a good family, and has worked her behind off most of her life. It’s hard to see her in this state, compared to how she used to be, and not really all that long ago.
As I’m typing this, she just started having another panic attack (Carolyn is tending to her).

Anyway, before I ramble on more, thank you again.
A doctor will have to sign off on a person getting hospice care. Care end of life at home with my loved one several years ago , one hour a day CNA / nurse care 7 days a week. If you wanted CNA for more care during the day that’s min of 4 hours per day or $100 . Hospice supplied unlimited diapers , hospital bed , wheelchair , and other supplies. Hospice even gave us morphine and injection needles and instructed us how to use on our family member at end stage which we did . Hospice mgt met with us at home and they truly angels on earth. Being a caregiver is the hardest but a truly rewarding If one goes to a nursing home with limited or no financial means the state will pay, if person has assets like mutual funds and or real estate that’s how payment is made. Nursing home care can run six figures annually.

Wow, never had an upcharge at a Mexican restaurant for chips and salsa, to start off a meal. (I wonder if there's more to it, in the pyramid. Maybe they're trying to discourage people from lingering a bit longer at their table, over chips & salsa, so that they can fit in more guests at dinnertime?)
Ex Disney CFO Christine did make a public comment regarding reducing portion sizes and commenting on guests being overweight. Chips and salsa not in moderation can add excess sodium to the body among other things.

This situation with your MIL is challenging. You and your wife seem to be aware of various helpful options in your area, (depending upon her specific health needs, which may vary from time to time).

One thing I wanted to mention is that back when my dad had Alzheimer's and was living at home with my mother, a few days a week he would (be driven by senior van service) to a daycare center for individuals like him. It was good for him to see others, participate (as much as he could) in light activities, and have midday lunch. The two days there, also gave my mother a breather to focus on other things, and take care of herself. All that lasted about a year, and then he was at the point where home care was not an option, and he was admitted to the VA hospital's ward for patients with similar medical conditions.

Not disputing any of the above, but IMO, people go to WDW to vacation, have fun, and ignore things like calories, for a few days. (If the ex-Disney CFO was so concerned about the health of the guests, than she may as well get rid of ice cream, cupcakes, festival food, oversized turkey legs, etc., and that's just for openers!) ;)

Oooofff, that reheated undercooked caveman size turkey leg at MK. Had it , liked it until I read it has over 5K mg of sodium in one turkey keg. To ignore calories we had eaten so much unlimited food on a cruise ( breakfast , lunch, midday snack, dinner, late nite buffet ) years ago for 4 consecutive days , when we got home I didn’t eat for 24 hours. I did not feel like looking at or eating food.
