So, Monday was my 31st+ year with the firm (not including the 4+ years I spent in retail during the last recession, of course).
Wonder how often that happens anymore…?
Even my Pop retired from IBM after “only” ;) 27 years…!!! :)
My dad's been with his law firm almost 38 years. He started there about a year after he graduated law school.

That will not be me. I'm very happy at my current company, but even if I stay there for the rest of my career, I plan on retiring before I hit 38 years.

Yea, your parents come from the same generation as Carolyn and myself. Probably the last generation where that will even be a thing, and it was even more prominent during our parents generation. Not that it’s good or bad either way, times are just different.
Based on raises, bonuses, benefits, work schedule, flexibility, free food ;), etc., I’ve just never felt the need to go anywhere else.
2 of the 4 partners are older than I am, and 2 are younger. They’re all worth well into 7 figures (especially the 2 older ones), and I have no clue (other than, for some, enough is never enough…?! :greedy:;)) why they haven’t sold the firm and just retired already….?! 🤷‍♂️

btw, Found a job.. part time only and pays low, not enough to sustain me completely but getting there.
Also will be in talks to another part time on the weekends... and with this I would def sustain myself.

Good luck Cesar. I've worked with some that started part time , they out worked others, showed their bosses their value and eventually were moved to full time opportunities. At least you are a resident in Canada you are covered with govt provided health insurance with no deductibles right ?

Congratulations! You found a winning formula with a great company, good pay, benefits, and food! :joyfull: (With the exception of the layoff during the recession, when many companies also followed suit -- it was encouraging to learn that the management brought you back, once they were back on stable financial ground.)

Glad to hear you already found a job, even if part-time. I'm sure something more permanent, and full-time, will eventually follow suit. I wish you all the best.
