Any party plans for your class today? (We used to give out those little Valentines cards, and there was also some candy, like those little candy hearts with the sayings on them.)
We don’t do parties like that for the kids in middle school. Our student council has been selling different flavors of Crush brand soda and those will be delivered today. The kids can buy a can for some and have a note attached. Many just buy cans for themselves.Any party plans for your class today? That’s is true but hopefully there are good memories to help with the sadness.Valentines Day can be a sad and lonely day too. View attachment 768288
Not counting 2 part time jobs. I have had 6 full time jobs since college. Soon to be 7 hopefully. So, Monday was my 31st+ year with the firm (not including the 4+ years I spent in retail during the last recession, of course).
Wonder how often that happens anymore…?
Even my Pop retired from IBM after “only” 27 years…!!!
They probably lived in the southern part of the state, or out on Cape Cod -- storm was active in those areas. (Boston and north only got around 3 inches, and not much wind. Storm was dramatically downgraded overnight.)
Oh that’s good! Good luck with the other interview.Me on my 41.. all bankrupted XD

You're not new here; you should be used to this by now...
Yeah, Dad got in a very good spot with his law firm. The owner was an awesome guy. Unfortunately, he passed away of a heart attack in his fifties. It was when I was in high school. He came to work that Friday and we got the call Saturday morning. We were really afraid that the law firm was going to shut down, but fortunately, the older son had already passed the bar exam and the younger one was studying for it, so they were around to keep the firm going so everyone wouldn't lose their jobs. It was scary there for a while, but thankfully they were able to keep their major legal contracts going and they still have their three locations. Dad is actually the longest tenured person there since his original boss passed away. He's got a very cushy job, though. He says I've got a cushy job and I'm like "Didn't you just show up at work at 11 am after taking two weeks vacation?"Yea, your parents come from the same generation as Carolyn and myself. Probably the last generation where that will even be a thing, and it was even more prominent during our parents generation. Not that it’s good or bad either way, times are just different.
Based on raises, bonuses, benefits, work schedule, flexibility, free food , etc., I’ve just never felt the need to go anywhere else.
2 of the 4 partners are older than I am, and 2 are younger. They’re all worth well into 7 figures (especially the 2 older ones), and I have no clue (other than, for some, enough is never enough…?! ) why they haven’t sold the firm and just retired already….?!
