Good luck Cesar. I've worked with some that started part time , they out worked others, showed their bosses their value and eventually were moved to full time opportunities. At least you are a resident in Canada you are covered with govt provided health insurance with no deductibles right ?
I'm a temporal resident but yes. I have insurance.
I just hope I do not get sick as I saw that the wait times can be brutal for certain things XD

I'm spoiling this cat...moved the ottoman from my chair next to my desk and put the blanket over it so she can lay next to me while I work...

So she laid there for a while, then started rubbing around. I'm like, what is it you want cat?

Cat nip. She wanted a kitty high. 🤦‍♀️ She's had it and has since left.

Trying to upgrade my phone...and my Samsung financing account is attached to my old Samsung.com account. That account had my old work email on it so I could get work discounts on it. Since I no longer work there, I obviously don't want to be using that account anymore, so I have to have Samsung transfer the financing account to my personal account, which is now linked so I can get student discounts. Which is apparently easier said than done. 😑🙄 Oh, come on Samsung, I'm trying to give you my money...

Valentines Day can be a sad and lonely day too. 😞View attachment 768288
I used to feel that way after my divorce, but not now. It's just another day that I don't have to buy anybody anything. I fulfilled my quota years ago. Now I am shopping for either a new desktop computer (which I like) or maybe a lap top (which I don't like). My old desktop picked this morning to buy the farm. It gave me no indication that it was getting sick, It was fine last night when I closed the apps but when I went to use it this morning, it was on the Microsoft sign on, which is very unusual unless I had signed off, which I didn't, and when I went to sign on it quickly switched to my desk top screen and froze up solid. I tried to reboot by just shutting it off (power) but all I could get on the screen was the big ole Dell logo and then everything went black. Tried numerous times today and get the same result. Fortunately, my apartment building contains a bank of computers that the residents can use.

At least, I can use them to research new computers. Has anyone ever had any experience with rebuilt computers sold on Amazon?

Congratulations! You found a winning formula with a great company, good pay, benefits, and food! :joyfull: (With the exception of the layoff during the recession, when many companies also followed suit -- it was encouraging to learn that the management brought you back, once they were back on stable financial ground.)

Thanks, Minnie…!!! :)
When they laid me off on Jan. 29th of ‘09, I had “officially” been with the firm for 20 years and 29 days, as Jan. 1st of ‘89 was the firms official incorporation date. I was actually there 3+ years prior to that, though.
It was funny the day they hired me back for on-the -side contract work.
I was backstage in the office at the Disney Store doing some management shift tasks. They buzzed me and said I had a visitor on stage. I walked out, and it was one of the partners. He asked me if I wanted to come back under part-time contract, as work was picking up. So, I did that, along with working 2 retail jobs, until they hired me back full-time on Feb. 11th of ‘13.
Ohhhhh, happy damn day…!!!!!!! :joyfull:😅
And, as they say, the rest is history…for now, anyhow…!!! ;):)

Eh, I am not a fan of rebuilt computers, or really computers off of Amazon unless you can find the exact same one direct from the manufacturer or from Best Buy. I bought a computer once off of Amazon, and since then, I've stuck with either getting them from Best Buy or direct from the manufacturer. I love getting stuff from Amazon (they unboxed my 55 inch Sony TV for me...for free...10/10 recommend), but computers are not one of those things. Peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, monitors, absolutely, but not the computer itself.

I do go with laptops for the portability, although I have a docking station and sit at my desk with them. The con to that is that a laptop will not last you as long as a desktop, but I do like being able to drag my laptop out to the living room or into bed if I no longer feel like sitting at my desk, along with also being able to take it on vacation. I know not everyone has that preference, though.

I honestly gotta go with Lenovo PCs. I bought a Dell as my last computer and I don't like it as well. My dad has my old Lenovo laptop, and it's still kicking after five years, which is a long time for a laptop. My brother has a Lenovo too, and that one runs very well. Work gave me a Lenovo laptop, and that thing is super powerful, definitely the best workstation I've had. Dells have been okay, but not as good as the Lenovos. I definitely do not recommend HP laptops. I've had issues with those personally and professionally. At my last job, IT ended up coming to my house because the battery on my HP laptop started expanding and became a fire hazard. Had another HP where the hard drive failed and it was just over a year old. 1/10 - do not recommend. My next computer will be a Lenovo gaming PC, but I'm putting off that purchase for a while. I've spent too much money recently...

Anyway, if you go with a laptop, this one is a pretty solid machine for your purposes that won't break the bank: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo...-512gb-ssd-abyss-blue/6549067.p?skuId=6549067 . Currently, I am using the docking station work gave me even for my personal stuff (don't tell work, lol) but I have my own that I got off of Amazon for around $80 that's pretty solid.

For a desktop, I really like the small form ones. No more large towers, you get more space, and they're just as powerful and reliable. I personally think you really only need the big towers if you're gaming or otherwise doing something that requires a lot of power, which I don't think you are. This one is pretty solid and not bad for the price: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/desk.../ideacentre-mini-gen-8-(1l-intel)/len102d0032

There's also All-in-one PCs, in which the computer itself is integrated into the monitor. I'm putting it out there for your informational purposes, but I'm personally not the biggest fan of this option. To me, it's just a glorified laptop that costs more without having the portability option, and if you have a working monitor, it doesn't make sense to have one. The advantage to them is that they usually have touch screens, but I never have the urge to use a touch screen when I'm sitting at my desk. I sometimes use the touchscreen on my laptop, usually if I'm writing something out with my old Surface pen, but not frequently. Anyway, I'm also not a big fan of the Lenovo options right now, but if you decide "Holy cannoli, I really must have an all-in-one", then this one is pretty solid; it's a Dell. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-i...emory-512gb-ssd-white/6537113.p?skuId=6537113
