Sadly the King , along with Jonny Cash (he stopped), Marylin Monroe and many others including JFK all got hooked on pills made by Dr. Feelgood. These pills were strong and often started out as just a pain killer (JFK had a really bad back issue and at times had problems just standing up). Sad.. not to go on a tanget but ive seen some really good kids that got hooked on Oxy and other pain pills from a sports injury..
Pain meds does it magic, to help dull the pain as one example . Some have to take them short term or long term, however when the pain goes away and one still takes pain meds that's another issue.

The good thing is that there's more awareness being spread about those types of painkillers. They don't just hand them out anymore.

I broke my finger back in December, and the bone was starting to crush at the joint. They still didn't automatically write any prescriptions for painkillers; I had to ask for them (actually, that was the main reason I sought treatment; I was away from home and just planned to go to a hand specialist when I got home...but I pretty much couldn't stand it anymore). I was only taking it at night because during the day I needed to be able to work with a clear head; during the day I was taking high doses of ibuprofen. I've been on oxy a few times in my life, a couple of times to stop migraines that absolutely would not stop and then for the broken finger. Thankfully knowing the risks meant I tried to get off of it and onto something like Tylenol and Ibuprofen as soon as I could.

Happy about that.

I saw what happened to my dad back in 2011 after he had triple bypass surgery. It the first or 2nd day after his surgery, mom, my younger brother and I saw nurse give dad Oxycontin due to pain he was in. We saw the aftermath after he took the Oxycontin and it is something we don't want to see again.

I don't mind when other people put up a Go Fund Me on someone's behalf, but putting it up yourself...yeah. Plus that's why you get renter's insurance.

My tenth should be next year. Unless my long-time bestie asks me to go with her and her husband (we all graduated together, but they and his twin brother are the only people I regularly talk to from my graduating class) I have no desire to go.
Most of the people in my graduating class were horrible excuses for human beings. No desire to see them. I have contact with the people I actually liked, and I visit when I go back "home" and avoid the rest. That's all the reunion I need.

We've had a nice stretch of weather lately. Humidity hasn't been bad, and the morning temperatures have been lower than the average for this time of year. 🥰

(Next week, I think we get back in the hot yuckies, but for now, I can deal with the weather.)
Knew a guy from Minnesota who dreaded the heat. He referred to the 4 seasons as almost winter, winter, still winter and July. One college buddy from Maine flew to FL to see his Red Sox spring training in March. He complained about the FL heat.
