Most of the people in my graduating class were horrible excuses for human beings. No desire to see them. I have contact with the people I actually liked, and I visit when I go back "home" and avoid the rest. That's all the reunion I need.
I attended the 25 reunion and it was awful. I enjoyed the 50th. The numbers were much smaller and I managed to have contact with my high school sweetheart. We have now kept in touch occasionally after not having a clue where we were for the previous 50 years. At our age now, it is just a nice flashback to youth.

The good thing is that there's more awareness being spread about those types of painkillers. They don't just hand them out anymore.

I broke my finger back in December, and the bone was starting to crush at the joint. They still didn't automatically write any prescriptions for painkillers; I had to ask for them (actually, that was the main reason I sought treatment; I was away from home and just planned to go to a hand specialist when I got home...but I pretty much couldn't stand it anymore). I was only taking it at night because during the day I needed to be able to work with a clear head; during the day I was taking high doses of ibuprofen. I've been on oxy a few times in my life, a couple of times to stop migraines that absolutely would not stop and then for the broken finger. Thankfully knowing the risks meant I tried to get off of it and onto something like Tylenol and Ibuprofen as soon as I could.
There is an opioid called dilaudid used in hospitals to treat intense pain. It’s heavily addictive and I’ve seen one side effect - one can lose their mind with scary behavior.
Some hospital beds have seat belts so the patient cannot get out of bed.

I have no desire to attend high school reunions right now, last year was the 25th, but if I'm still around for the 50 year reunion it might be interesting to go.

Yea, I was kind of coerced to go to the 50th. I wasn't really interested but when a couple of close friends kept asking me to go I decided to make the 2000 mile round trip drive to Vermont. I hadn't visited old friends and relatives for a few years so it all fit in. I was very glad I went. All of us were older than dirt and in different stages of senility. Another one also went up from NC that was dealing with terminal cancer and stayed alive long enough to go to the reunion. Sadly, she passed just two months after. Her son told us how hard she fought to make the trip and see old friends for the last time. We knew she didn't look well, but didn't find out how sick she was until after. Overall it was far more pleasant then the twenty fifth which just seemed to be one continuous attempt to outdo each other.

Reminds me of a recent fraternity reunion ( which I could not attend ) where some of my brothers and me have not seen each other in 20-30 years since some of us live in different parts of the country. Life is too short, treasure the moments , one of them passed in the hospital 3 months later in the ICU at 51 years old.

Me either -- no interest in those school reunions.

We went to my 5th and 20th. None since.
Carolyn went to HS in Great Falls, Montana and had no desire to attend any of her reunions.
Both were fun, but, there was a marked thinning of the ranks that showed up between 5 and 20.
One dude at the 20th had already had quadruple bypass surgery at age 38. A drummer for a popular HS band back in the day, and always as skinny as a stick. Go figure.

There was no high school reunions for the class I was in. I don't think the class was organized enough and I am sure a lot of us lost contact decades ago.

It didn't bother me any way. I am not interested either way.

For our 5 year our class President and other officers called people with the numbers they knew and spread info by word of mouth. They called my mom and dad’s house and mom passed the message along. I think it was kind of a spread the word type of thing. Once Facebook became a big thing the officers set up a Class page and announced things there. Our class officers were always very organized girls so they are on the ball with that kind of stuff. I don’t think that there is any class money left based on what they have asked people to pay for attending the reunions that have been organized.

It is interesting to see some of the messages that come through the class page occasionally but that’s as far as I want to be involved right now.
