Well, it's good that an alternate beach day was available for your family. Incidentally, one thing I like when I go down (to the WDW area) is watching the big, afternoon rain storms, while sitting outside on my hotel balcony (there's an overhang, so I still stay relatively dry). Those storms always seem to be a lot more powerful down South (FL and TX, for example). Weather can be fun! :joyfull:

Yea, we have to be out of here by tomorrow mornin’ at 10a, so it was either yesterday or today for a beach day.
It’s still rainin’ here, although not as hard as earlier.
And, yep, Texas and Florida have similar weather, in that regard, and I like a good thunderstorm like that, as well. The only thing I don’t care for too much is drivin’ in it. Late afternoon on Monday, a crazy storm blew in outta’ what seemed like nowhere. I was gonna’ wait for it to calm down, but, I was too anxious to get outta’ the office, ‘cause we were leavin’ for this trip the next mornin’. And, of course, it rained cats and dogs almost the total entirety of my commute home, and pretty much came to a dead stop right about the minute I hit our driveway…!!!!! :hilarious:
As I’ve posted before, Austin gets hotter than Orlando, but, generally, not as humid. Houston is on par with Orlando humidity-wise, but, also gets hotter.
Below is the temp back in Austin, the much cooler temp here because of the tropical depression, and the current-ish location of the tropical depression…

I gotta say, we got stranded in Hawaii and the airline put us up in a "3 star hotel." After staying there, I have a new appreciation for Disney value resorts. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and the beds were relatively comfortable. That's about all I can say for it. 🙄
I guess it depends. I stayed once at a "3 start" motel at Houston and it was absolutely crap. And then I've been to 2 stars near the airports and were more decent.
It's all on maintenance. There are many hotels that have been let to rot.

You realise that sympathy runs out at "we got stranded in Hawaii" 😉

Well, we finally got our (expedited) passport applications in. I had the day off, Brian got out of school early, and he had everything all filled out and ready to go. The post office was going to give us an appointment at the end of July, so we went to the courthouse and put it right through. Should take 2-6 weeks.

Now we are waiting for his test results. This was theoretically the last day of nursing school (again.) Like last semester, he passed everything. Like last semester, it all comes down to the final he took today. Last time, he failed it by 2 points and had to take the whole class over again.

Might hear back tonight, tomorrow, a couple of days..? I don't know.

Other than that, 31 days to see Daryl Hall & Todd Rundgren. 8 days after that, I go to New Orleans for a biz conference. 23 days after that is our "Dream" cruise.

I have a feeling it is going to fly by and should start doing my taxes asap LOL.

Nice. We need passports. We just keep putting them off. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Good vibes for good test results!!
I love Todd Rundgren!! We saw him when he was with Ringo on a tour.

Can't imagine not having passports.
Across that side of the pond, very necessary.

Here...not so much. I don't have one. Can still travel a good bit within the country.

Technically, if you wanted to, you could get on a plane, go to Honolulu, then get on another plane, go to Guam, for a total of at least 16 hours if you're on the east coast...and still never need a passport.

Much rather be stranded in WDW if I have to be stranded someplace (which I have gotten stranded there a few times because of weather). Hawaii was a total pain for getting stranded.
On my side... My worst was on Houston while it was flooded. Could do nothing but kept inside a crappy hotel. Oh and only snacks because noone would deliver with the weather.

Yeah, I've been at WDW during a hurricane. It's not too bad there because Disney takes good care of you. When I was growing up it was Hurricane Charley. We went to the park until they closed for the day, then we went back to Wilderness Lodge. They gave us food and sent us to our rooms. This was the days before streaming, so they had movies playing on the resort channels. I remember watching Monsters Inc from the top bunk of the bunk beds. Then the next day it was clear and operations resumed.

We stayed late in WDW when I was in high school because a hurricane hit back home. We called our neighbors and they secured everything for us and put Belle in the basement. We decided we will not stay in our house during a hurricane. If one came here, my parents would probably go to a hotel and I'd take the cats and go to my grandma's.
