Yep, like Tita( Auntie ) Maria or Tito ( Uncle ) Mike. Some I come across in my area usually say the same thing " Are you hungry , did you get enough to eat ?". I don't leave their place if not overstuffed and food to go bags given to me.
Not exactly they let me stay up past my bedtime, ordered pizza for dinner, no limit on junk food and let us watch anything we wanted. They also had much better taste in clothes than my parents so I always had a few "cool" outfits

Traditional mexican candy is done using "cazos" or pottery with clay.
Cheap clay (specially used for display) uses lead based resins to harder and make the clay more resistant and pretty.
Idiots (in my country this has happened as well) and believe ir or not, chinese knock offs... use these clay based with lead pots because its cheaper to buy and last more.

But still, how a company that seems to make candy in an industrial way has lead?
Makes no sense.

Mexico set a record in Mexican remittances overseas / USA sent back home to Mexico to help family last year - $50B. I know a number that send money home monthly to help out their families.
The irony is that most of that money goes back to the USA with Mexico importing technology, corn and oil by products thanks to lack of industry or corruption. (aka politicians would set up business with US bakers in the USA and send all the local production to these spots. So they have secured demand and they get the money instead of the government.

But then, thats going into politics...

Wow -- 3 of them! In past various jobs, I've seen the occasional (one) person asked to leave. But 3 of them -- that must have been a smoldering fire with sparks, that management needed to extinguish. What also surprises me is that the 3 of them didn't take the message seriously, when mgmt. brought certain issues to their attention. I was just thinking that maybe the 3 thought they had "safety in numbers" so to speak. Whoa . . . that's a rookie mistake.

Hopefully, the firm can find some qualified replacements in a reasonable timeframe. I'm sure the loss of 3 people, must impact the workload of others, also assigned to those projects.

Yea, in the 29+ years total that I’ve been with the firm, they’ve laid off 3-4 people at a time, due to the economic situation, but, I’ve never seen them fire more than one person at a time for performance/attitude issues. And, I’ve seen many leave before because they couldn’t take the pressure or had productivity issues. Quite frankly, some just oversell themselves, maybe thinking they’ll catch on over time, and then they don’t.
Others have left to pursue other careers, even though they spent years in college for architecture.
And why they didn’t accept the help to do better, I have no clue. Many firms/companies will just can your rear without any offer to help you perform better or improve your attitude. As I posted, I didn’t work on any projects with them and had no clue there were any issues. But, being fired, no letter of recommendation, etc., can create so many more issues with future employment than just walking away. Maybe they’re just young (mid 20’s) and cocky, but, as I posted, they used to hang out outside of the office and apparently fed off of each other’s negativity.

One of the partners was already off to a job fair for today and tomorrow, so they should find some replacements soon.
