Interesting day…
They canned not just one, but, 3 people at the firm today.
They called a meeting to make sure the rest of us knew that it wasn’t for a lack of work, but, simply a performance and attitude thing.
They tried working with them on their issues, but, after several months, none of them were improving, so out the door they went.
I never worked on a project with either of them, so wasn’t even aware of any issues.
Apparently, they all hung out together outside of work, and were just feeding off of each other’s negativity.
One of them had their first child about 7-8 months ago.

I took art as well, but my mother told me you can't make a living that way, so in 10th grade, I took one trimester (yes, that's what we had) of mechanical drawing. Within the first few days, I knew I was not going to be an architect!

Senior year, I had two hours a day of commercial art. That was more my speed, and more practical. I also skipped chemistry and just took a basic science class (again divided into trimesters: rocks and minerals, fossils, and something else I can't remember right now.) Plus English and gym, and that was that. Easy senior year.

Yea, not wanting to be a “starving artist” is one of the arguments I gave my art teacher for taking drafting class.
The first 6 weeks of class, all of us first year drafting class students had to do mechanical drafting. After that, we could choose between learning mechanical, electrical, or architectural design and drafting. Obviously, I chose architectural…damn you Mike Brady…!!!!! :hilarious:

I almost pursued a career in advertising…damn you Darrin Stephens…!!!!! :hilarious:
And yes, both my junior and senior years were pretty much a breeze…!!! :)

I've wondered does remote start work for manual transmission cars? I don't think so. When I park my car I shut off my car , put the stick in first gear , pull the parking break up, exit the car. When I get in the car to start it, I put the stick in neutral, depress the clutch pedal and start the car. I put the car in gear when i park because if I pull the parking break up and leave the stick in neutral if the parking break fails, the car will start rolling. One good thing about driving a stick, use less on the brakes , downshift into lower gears and my car 70K miles still have a pad life left from last dealer oil change inspection.

I've read the posts about Downton Abbey and The Crown and I have to admit, I've never seen a single episode of either and not really bothered either. But, I'm busy watching The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Twilight Zone (the original and best series, not the remakes) and loving them.

The original run of The Twilight Zone was a bit before my time, but, I’ve seen many of the episodes in rerun.
I definitely remember the original run of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and it’s an undeniable classic…!!!!! :hilarious:

Wow -- 3 of them! In past various jobs, I've seen the occasional (one) person asked to leave. But 3 of them -- that must have been a smoldering fire with sparks, that management needed to extinguish. What also surprises me is that the 3 of them didn't take the message seriously, when mgmt. brought certain issues to their attention. I was just thinking that maybe the 3 thought they had "safety in numbers" so to speak. Whoa . . . that's a rookie mistake.

Hopefully, the firm can find some qualified replacements in a reasonable timeframe. I'm sure the loss of 3 people, must impact the workload of others, also assigned to those projects.
