Your welcome. My dad is having a birthday later in the month. It sounds like he wants chicken or burgers. The Chicken in question is not from a national chain at all, but from a place that has 3 locations. 2 of the locations are pick up or carry out only. The other location is in a sports arena.

If it is burgers, it is the ones that are bought at local chain called Sendiks Food market. That food market has different flavors of burgers.
It’s his birthday…!!!!!!! :joyfull: :D:hilarious:

gotta ask why can't you run the car to defrost the windows?
Pollution. If the car is running, but you aren't driving, it still emits exhaust which is bad for the environment. There's a whole section in the theory book for driving, and a section on the written test, about environmentally friendly driving, like appropriate moments to shift, letting your car roll to a stop rather than braking, using alternative tires that use other gases than standard air, etc.

In some cities (maybe states) it is illegal to keep your car running unattended even if you are just warming it up or defrosting it because it makes it easier for car thefts. In some of those places it is still illegal even with remote start. Just a reason that doesn't deal with climate change.
I think over here, as far as that goes, that's not why you aren't allowed to, but your insurance probably wouldn't cover it if your car was stolen while you had it turned on and you weren't in it. I saw a guy just the other day who was getting his meds from the window (They have a sort of vending machine outside so you can pick up your meds even when the pharmacy is closed) and his car was parked several meters away, idling. I doubt that's allowed, but the likelihood of police going by right at that moment is slim, and they might not notice that the car is on and no one in it. But if I were a criminal, I could have easily just gotten in his car and driven away.

I would not feel guilty running my car for 10 minutes to warm it up and defrost the windows. I can't count the number of times I have sat in traffic at a stand still for well over 10 minutes because the police weren't directing traffic around an accident.
Over here, if you are at a stand still, you are supposed to turn your engine off. Same thing at a railroad crossing. Any time you are stopped for an extended period, you are supposed to turn the engine off so you don't emit more exhaust than necessary.

I've heard that stop start features on newer cars creates more wear and tear ( ie starter part item in car ) . My family members Audis have this feature. Fortunately it can be disabled but one needs to disable it every time you drive the car during the day or night.

We had a rental car recently that had that feature. It was unnerving, to say the least. Just strange that when stopped at a red light, for example, it sounded like the car went "dead" . . . our reaction was, will it start up again, when the light goes green?! :p

You'd think that's something a rental agency would tell you. We for stuck with a Juke that had it and had no idea what was going on. Airport traffic and learning stuff like that isn't the best lol

Actually, hubs had no problem with it, as he figured it out in seconds. Then again, he's a gear-head type of guy. I'm just the opposite! :p (So the anxiety was really only on my part.) As for car rental agencies, they just assign whatever car in on the lot at the time. Each car will have a manual (usually, that is) in the glove compartment. They leave it up to the driver to figure it out any nuances of the car.

How ridiculous Not being political but in the administrations military budget they are funding the construction of 7 new icebreakers for the Coasties. If we are all going to die from climate change and the arctic ice is melting what do we need icebreakers for. Have we been lied too.
Again you are thinking about global warming which is a small part of "climate change". We still have plenty of years and plenty of locations that will need icebreakers. Just located in different areas along the "coasties". The process is just starting in terms of time eras. No one is being lied to, this is happening and the pattern has been proceeding for as along as I have been alive. I have noticed the changes for at least the last 40 years.

It isn't a huge rush of change. You an I will not be around to see the worst of it. The warning isn't about saving the planet, the planet is just acting like it has for billions of years. It's the people that are in trouble if we all don't make every effort to find the way to survive this, because the planet and the universe is not going to stop evolving just to bow to our will.

Since there will be a huge variety of icebergs floating around it's probably a good idea to have a few icebreakers in service.

All vehicles with that fuel saving device has a very obvious button someplace on the dash board where if you push it, it shuts that feature off and the car doesn't shut off at stoplights. They do default to that every time you start the car up on your own. The first thing I do with my car after I start it is push that button.

We wouldn’t even need car covers if we could just get everyone else’s carp outta’ our 2-car garage…!!!!! :hilarious:
Yea, whenever I had a garage it was never used as storage. I even built a carport on my house to keep our second car under cover. Not only do you not have to scrape any ice but you don't have to clear all that snow off your vehicle before moving. Down here I don't worry quite so much about that. The snow is usually light and if it's freezing rain I'm not going to use my car anyway, but my first ten years down here I had a single car garage and my car was always in it. The biggest fear I have here is I have seen a lot of hail storms and saw outside cars pock marked from front to back. Didn't worry about that or tree limbs when it was inside the garage.

We don't have that feature. You just turn the key when you're at a RR crossing, or stuck in traffic.

Apparently the issues of yesterday on my ISP were caused by 2 different large fiber optic nodes being cut by third parties in 2 different places.
One was in Texas by an apparent roadside work and the second was building contractor that ignored the fiber optic cable warnings.

it kinda sounds like sabotage thou..

Musings of the day.

4th time in the past 6months I have witnessed something very funny and scary at same time.
Have any of you seen a conga line of mosquitos?
Think the scene of "going down the bayou" from Princess and the Frog.

Well, 4th time (probably happened more but never noticed).
Where when after finishing my meal and going upstairs via these U shaped stairs, where the center is the longest.
I looked back because I was called by either my mom or my sister. And noticed a conga line of mosquitos following me upstairs.
Not only that, but they were consistently buzzing up and down with rythm.

A few seconds after I stop.. they seem to notice (the mosquitos) and scrambled out of the conga line.
from 5 to 10 mosquitos in these 4 times. All moving swinging up and down as they followed me upstairs.
I'm not sure if I should be impressed... but irritated is my most usual thing.
Worse when I run to get the mosquito spray. Because they seem to get the hint and scramble to hide.

Mosquitos travel in a line to hide their numbers.
