I am showing my age some with him. I was not alive when he was a head coach, but I heard of him for a very long time.

I first remembered him on my tv screen for NFL games on CBS. I grew up playing the John Madden video game series on the Sega Genesis back in the 1990s. I remembered him doing tv commercials also.

I never watched football, but I recall seeing him for years, on various sports reports, on the evening news. It's always sad when a familiar face is no longer with us, regardless of whether one followed his career. May he RIP.
