  • Find decent job online
  • Check requirements, I'm a match
  • Get to the site and fill information as normal.
  • At the very last page.. get bombarded by a religious mega questioning that almost looks like scientologist levels of brainwashing forcing applicant to deny even the basics of science.
  • Review what the employee site is.. Yep... a "christian" cult :|
  • Flee

I was gonna say...this feels more akin to what I was doing in my college CAPSTONE class, the last class you take after all your other major courses, not something you should be taking in what is basically high school.
Well, to be fair, she's doing the highest level of high school, which is basically like an advanced placement high school. Only the top 5-10% of students go to that level, so these are advanced kids. But even so, they are still high school kids. And yes, they need real world experiences to prepare them for college and for the job market, but they are 15....they aren't there yet. And some of them don't even know what they want to do yet...they may need these chemistry skills and they may not. Let the people who have chosen that field do that work and let the kids do something a bit more general, just getting exposure to as many careers as possible so they can decide what fits them.

Wow. That’s definitely different.
I guess I’m more like the dad from the 40’s scene from CoP…
I’m part of the “rat race”…I get up, shower, throw on my clothes, and join the other “rats” in traffic…same place, same time, 5 days a week, rinse and repeat…!!!!! :hilarious:
That's more my husband's work life too. He is an engineer and works for a consulting company that gives advice about what kind of heating, ventilation, air conditioning system a building needs. And he does energy labels, which are the bane of his existence. His is the 8-5 job, 5 days a week. There's some flexibility there for things like needing to take a kid somewhere....he can start early and leave early. But in general, it's the standard rat race. And it's a small company...like 10 people or something.

I, on the other hand, work in a warehouse that also operates in the evenings and weekends. I have no particular education needed to do my job, where he has a masters degree in engineering. I mean, I have a bachelors degree in music education, but that's not much use to me at work other than I can impress my coworkers by belting along with the radio and not completely suck. And I have 300 coworkers, most of whom do not have the same schedule as I do and I couldn't tell you most of their names. We have a big BBQ in the summer, and a big Christmas party in December. I make an appearance at the BBQ, but don't stay too long. This past summer the BBQ went until something like midnight. I left around 7 or 8. I had just called my husband to come pick me up when a musical duo took the stage and I was so glad I didn't have to stay, because they were less than stellar and I was lucky to escape most of the screaching. But there's no plus one to any of the events at my work, nor at most of my husband's work parties. It's JUST the workers themselves, so it's not really that enjoyable to be hanging out with 300 people when I only really know 20 of them and only like half the ones I know. I avoid the Christmas party completely, because it's inside, so you're packed in like sardines and the music is LOUD. My husband's company only invited partners to the Christmas party one time because it was an anniversary year. I'm ok with that, because I'm not a party person anyway. It's just not my scene. Crowds, noise, usually techno music, which I hate.....no thank you!

Yea, we didn’t have it last year because of COVID, but, they dropped some serious cash on last nights festivities…!!!!! :greedy::greedy::greedy::hilarious:
Oh our company drops serious cash for the parties. Well....last year they had a huge Christmas party all planned out and it was supposed to be quite the rave....had to be canceled. Then we had the BBQ this summer and they dropped some serious cash for an after hours bash at a hotel later and even got a block of rooms so people could stay over if they were too drunk to drive home....there's always an open bar. But the after hours rave had to be canceled because of corona rules that venues had to be closed at midnight. Then there was the "Winter" party that was supposed to be in November (hoping that more people would be able to make it because they wouldn't have conflicts with their kids' school Christmas parties, or their spouses' work Christmas parties) that also had to be canceled. With all the money they are saving on the parties, you'd think they'd put that into a bonus or something, but I doubt it.

Oh I really like his music. Country music isn't a thing here. Whenever I'm in the US, I have to find a country station to get my fix. Collin Raye, George Straight, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Shania Twain, The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks), Shedaisy....so many good artists. I'm sure there are newer ones now, but I'm not familiar since I haven't lived in a place with Country Music for nearly 20 years.

Yep, I was pretty much raised on country music, and a lot of Czech polka, too. Carolyn listens exclusively to country music in her ride.
George Strait is known as the “King of Country”, and has influenced many artists, such as Garth Brooks, who praises him up one side and down the other.
He even got critical acclaim for his movie “Pure Country”, which we really enjoyed…!!! :)
His portrayal of the character in the first part of the movie is so different than the way he is in real life, that it makes for a great juxtaposition of the storyline…!!! :)

I think the problem is that, in too many cases, more and and more employers and employees are becoming more selfish…”what have you done for me lately…?!”.
Is that really selfish, though? I mean...the company wants me to work my tail off, but they also want to give as little as possible in return. I, in turn, don't feel like going out of my way to do extra. And in the case of the employer, when there are people who take extra long breaks, or who play on their phones instead of working (we're not supposed to have our phones on the workfloor) hiding in between shelves so they don't get caught, I can see why the bosses don't want to pay them even more and don't want to bend over backwards to offer them time off. With these huge companies with hundreds of employees, you don't have the personal relationships like you have with the people in your company. The big bosses aren't even there in the evenings when I work. Before the company moved, I rode my bike to work and could work during the day. Now it's not in biking distance, and my husband has the car during the day, so I can't work until evening, but I have a good rapport with the evening managers. But they aren't the ones who issue bonuses or give raises. It's not so much selfish as lacking personal connections with everyone. They don't necessarily know who works their tail off and who is sitting in a bathroom stall with their phone. There's just a lack of accountability and trust because everyone is nameless. I mean, I guess there's an element of selfishness or maybe entitlement is a better word for it among some of them, but I guess I just don't see myself as selfish because I want to get more if I give more. I just don't think there's any way they could give me more without also giving it to the people who AREN'T working hard. Neither of us are selfish in that scenario, we just want what we deserve and don't trust that we'll get it.

So, my package that was supposed to be delivered yesterday (the one that was confirmed for the 7th, and then confirmed for the 10th) did not arrive. (I last checked at 8:00 PM last night.)

Got up this morning around 5:30 AM, and looked out front -- there it (finally) was on the porch! When the heck to they deliver now -- at midnight??!! :jawdrop: Good grief!

For some reason, last week we had our mail delivered at night…have NEVER seen that before…!!! :cyclops:

Apparently, some experts are saying ( based on radar, dopler, etc..) That a single EF5 tornado might have crossed 4 states. And pulled debris almost as high as planes during cruising. With a maximum reported speed of 285Mph (fastest tornado on record if verified).

I've been getting updates all morning DD13 has this crazy idea she's going to be a field meteorologist and chase these things. Spent until 4am watching live streams until storms were past us.
Even the debris lift height has never been seen like this before. 20k+ ft into the air. At points the radar returns started showing black because it was off the scale.
