Would a deterrent like a spray and or sound repellant for deer can help to be placed near the compost bin? Perhaps Home Depot could have something.I see Bambi every day, usually trying to raid my compost bin
Or do this. cheaper and tastierWould a deterrent like a spray and or sound repellant for deer can help to be placed near the compost bin? Perhaps Home Depot could have something.

The deer know when the smoker gets run there's extra veggie scraps in the compost. Have I mentioned the deer are friends with JamesOr do this. cheaper and tastier
So they know to approach when the smoker is on. Cunning plan .The deer know when the smoker gets run there's extra veggie scraps in the compost. Have I mentioned the deer are friends with James
not a big mess ---A Pig messSo, I’m back to drivin’ my ol’ country backroad both to and from the office again, because the freeway is back to nutso again, both ways.
Anyway, on my way home tonight I was making one of the many blind curves and all of a sudden there is about a 300lb. feral hog about 1/3 of the way out into my lane, that I had to swerve around to miss. If it’d been directly in my lane, it woulda’ been a big mess all the way around.
Talk about gettin’ your heart rate up…!!!!!
Again they are friends not food. James even shares his carrots with themSo they know to approach when the smoker is on. Cunning plan .

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite Christmas songs : Thank you very much for sharing
Aww man.. no bacon for tonight then?
Being serious. Glad that things didn't go to the wrong side and managed to not risk yourself.
Air bags for sure and glad you didn't find out the hard wayYea, it woulda’ been bad. I was going only about 45 mph, but, hitting a 300lb. hog would have hurt my car, for sure. Not sure if air bags would have deployed at that weight and speed…?!
There have been deer and cyclists all over that road for decades, but, that’s one of the very few times I’ve seen one of the feral hogs, especially that big.
Funny thing is, I haven’t seen cyclists on that road in a while.
Maybe they finally grew a brain, and figured out that having the “right of way” on a two-lane, hilly, blind curve, shoulderess road doesn’t make your sorry bike nazi *** any less dead…?!?!?!
Over the years, I’ve been able to avoid several potential disasters just by paying attention to the task at hand…driving. I’m in charge of a potentially deadly, disastrous, machine. I better respect that, and respect the lives of others and their families. Too many don’t get that, unfortunately.

I recall seeing a news report about feral hogs, and they can be dangerous. The report wasn't about Texas, but one of the southern states where they're a problem. Relieved to hear that you didn't encounter it, either with your car or other situation. Glad that you're o.k.Yea, it woulda’ been bad. Wow that was close. I know some in Northeast that have these devices on their front bumper to deter oncoming deer with ultrasonic sound. I'm not sure if it works but even in the early morning hours when we stayed at Coronado at WDW I saw Bambi crossing the main road. Work for hogs too?
Air bags for sure and glad you didn't find out the hard way
The deer must be selective in what they eat to maintain their toned slim figureBetter the compost than the garden
