I recall seeing a news report about feral hogs, and they can be dangerous. The report wasn't about Texas, but one of the southern states where they're a problem. Relieved to hear that you didn't encounter it, either with your car or other situation. Glad that you're o.k.

Yep, those things are a nuisance around certain parts of our area, as well. They are also allowed to be hunted.
I remember a few years ago being behind a guy on that same country backroad that had three of there corpses on a rack on the back of his old Chevy Blazer…Hog heaven…!!!!! :hilarious:

Yah, the report I watched indicated that they had way over-populated, and were being hunted. Again, it stressed they're dangerous to encounter.

Yep, they are very aggressive, from what I hear.
I remember my cousin telling us when we would go dove hunting on my Pops side family farm, that if we heard a wild hog behind us to just drop the gun and run to the nearest tree and tree ourselves. And, these were actual wild hogs, not feral.
Never happened, but, at least we were prepared/warned…!!!!! :hilarious:

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove: One of my favorite Christmas songs : Thank you very much for sharing

Interesting Christmas song, sadly a lot of it reminded me of Christmas Eve in Vietnam. We were based on Bien Hoa AFB and all was quiet, war wise. I had just watched "It's a Wonderful Life" on Armed Forces TV for the very first time. I must admit it made me a little emotional. I went outside because our group had just traded something (possibly a jeep) for a case of steaks (Radar O'Reilly style) and they were being grilled outside. There was massive amounts of drinking and "other" stuff being consumed and guys were doing a huge range of stupid things like filling their mouths full of lighter fluid and then spitting it out into a flame. Mini-fireworks, for us, but than, out of nowhere, a brawl broke out. I don't know why, I just looked up and everyone was punching, kicking and yelling. I went back to the inside and watched some other TV program, probably the singer, piano player, Bobby something, I don't remember his name, disheartened and confused. It apparently wasn't bad enough that people we never met were bent on killing us, now we were fighting among ourselves. Not unlike the way we are around here today. At least there, stress, homesickness and fear for a logical reason. Anyway it all calmed down after awhile and the next morning we awoke to the same old intensely heated air and those of us that didn't work sat out and drank beer. A few days before I did get to see Bob Hope so I had that going for me, at least.

Wow! Never heard of that, but I don't live anywhere near they are sold.
The first cultural shock I got when I moved here was one day while I was exploring I came across a locally famous pork store. I walked into see a large number of coolers lined up with a large variety of pork products displayed. The very first one in the cooler line was a complete pig face. (Three of them to be exact. So much for that fairy tale) Not something you ever see up north. I told people about it for days after. When I told my northern friends the response was What?? You're kidding right? When I mentioned it down her in the course of conversation, their response was.. So? What's weird about that? I'd hate to be a pig in North Carolina.

Many people turn their noises up when it comes to eating wild hogs They make good barbecue
My comprehension of barbeque is
TX - incredible stuff not needing much sauce
NC- good stuff , mustard or vinegar based
St Louis - saucy saucy barbeque

A guy from the USA and his business partner from the UK opened up a barbeque place in the UK several years ago. It was a big hit.

I prefer TX and still have good memories of eating awesome dinners.
