Gas is about 2.95 here. Well, the gas station I go to is that price. Others are higher like Shell or Cumberland Farms by like 10 cents.

I watched the open ceremony celebration of Disney yesterday on Youtube. It was interesting without the full grown trees blocking views. Like you could see the train from the Haunted Mansion. But they only had two singers so that was good. Though Julie Andrews sang the whole time. But it's Julie Andrews.

A couple weird moments....Fort Wilderness hillbilly couple. Not sure what they were aiming at there and Bob Hope at the Contemporary.

We've been getting flash flood warnings all morning. My apartment building is on very high ground. If the ravine in front of my place fills with water we have bigger problems than flash flooding, it will be build an ark time! This time we will be more selective about what animals we will allow on board. I suppose as long as I have to wait for the ARK alert I should look up what the actual size a cubit is.

I'd be also concerned where my car is parked in the apt parking lot. If the parking lot drains cannot handle the deluge of water, cars can easily be submerged in water. Can you find a parking garage you can park in with multiple levels of parking and uber back to your residence?

Cheap gas prices in TX but I've got friends living in Houston that pay higher property taxes for housing compared to FL. But better barbeque and tacos ( can eat tacos breakfast, lunch and dinner ) when visiting TX.

Yep, great BBQ, Tex-Mex, etc.
I know we pay less property tax rates than many other places in the country, but, property appraisals are pushing those amounts up substantially.
Elon Musk just announced he’s moving his headquarters here to Austin. Our property is now appraised at over 6 times what we paid for it in ‘89.

Not to worry, my area is not in any danger of flooding unless it rains steadily for 40 days. It has stopped already (more coming this afternoon) our location is on a very high point and what I'm saying is that it is surrounded by huge deep ravines with easy run off. I was just trying to interject a little humorous drama. Thanks for your concern though.

Must be those CA families and business firms escaping expensive CA to relocate to cheaper TX. I heard there is a nickname for them moving to Austin, they are called " Austinfornians".

So you pay high taxes, highs taxes on gas and still have to pay for healthcare -aren't you lucky. Personally I would rather have more control over "my" money and how I spend it
I actually love how it's set up here. I can just go to the doctor without having to worry about how I'm going to pay for it. I remember when I was in college and I had a really bad ear infection. It was summer session and I was working there, but not taking any classes, and the fall semester wasn't going to start for like a week or something. I tried to go to student health....you have to pay fees for the summer session, including health, even if you aren't taking classes, but for some reason they wouldn't see me because I wasn't a student for another several days. I couldn't afford to go to a doctor, so I had to wait until the fall semester started to go to student health. My eardrum ended up rupturing and I had to audition for all of my choirs with no hearing in one ear. Thank goodness the directors already knew me. It was rough. I'd much rather pay the higher taxes and have a reduced price on health insurance so I don't ever have to not see a doctor because I can't afford it. That was MISERABLE. I was in so much pain! Higher taxes are totally worth it to me.
