How's the jeep ? Apologies if I missed the latest.
I still haven’t gotten it back. You know they ordered that part on Monday from Atl. So yesterday by 2 we hadn’t heard anything so made a call. They had to order a hose from Atl. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So hubby is calling in 30 mts to see if it’s finished. We are more frustrated because they don’t call and let us know anything.😡

We are currently at a solar minimum right now, so my bet is things will be colder. Remember the Time magazine cover from the early 80’s that said we were headed towards another ice age? Scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. We subscribed to it. Funny story about that. We got a Publishers Clearing House entry in the mail. Guess who filled it out and put magazine stamps in it? Yep me. Mom was so not thrilled. So I blame myself for reading that Time article. 🤣
I never really got wrapped up in the "ice age" theory, but climate change seemed absolutely, unmistakably obvious to anyone paying attention. I stated that I remember the first MAJOR snow storm in the south in like 100 years in 1980. Then after that when we made our yearly February Trips to Florida it was very noticeable that every year it was getting just a little warmer in the north and cooler in the south. I can remember when you could set your watch on -20 or -30 always being around the middle of February and would stay that way for a couple of weeks. It was always that temperature in Vermont at the end of February. Then through the years it was getting warmer and warmer. Still winter but the huge, long lasting "frigid" cold started to ease up a little and frost was more frequent in Florida. It would warm up quicker in the south, but over the last 40 years the south has been colder and overall, the north has been warmer and less snow. This year might not indicate that but on the average, I'd bet that each year winter gets milder in the north. I think I mentioned that sometime in those earlier years I predicted that someday people will go north for the winter warm weather and south for winter sports. None of us will be around that long, but I still think it will happen.

Texas friend update. They had no power for 39 hours and currently have rolling blackouts.

Update from here...
We have yet to lose power at our house (knock on wood...my head...!!!!! :hilarious:). Emmy, Megan, and Daniel have also not lost power, as well as Mom and Pop, so that’s very good...!!! :)
But, at home again today, as the roads I would need to use are still too bad. We’re all still at home, actually.

Yep, I also remember that ice age prediction from back then.
I don’t remember bein’ particularly concerned about it at the time though...about every 6 months for the 8 years we lived in No Cal someone was predicting “the big one” was gonna’ knock our half of Cali. into the Pacific...!!!!! :hilarious:

Gotta tell ya -- I've seen more interviews on TV news the past 2 days with various people (political, business owners, regular citizens, etc.) about the snow/ice/no power situation down there.

Really happy you're all hanging in there with your power still on.

Yea, if any good comes out of this unprecedented situation, it’ll definitely be an attempt to improve the power grid for any future situations like this.
As another member has posted, and I’ve also posted before, Texas has its own power grid. It seems to work much better in hot summer conditions, but, there can also be a strain on the system if it’s really hot for several days, as so many are running their A/C almost non-stop during the heat of the day.
The Governor has even recommended that top ERCOT officials resign.
As for me, I’m sittin’ in my car defrosting/de-icing it...yet again...!!!!! :hilarious:
