In either location, we've always known a wave two was coming. People should have been expecting this and resupplying slowly. But here we are.
Yeah, experts here are worrying about a 3rd or even 4th wave. So far, our 2nd wave isn't even close to being done, but people are resisting measures to reduce the spread. We're getting a mask mandate starting Dec. 1st, and I'm not sure why they are waiting so long to implement it....they've been saying it for like a month. They've closed all the restaurants except for takeout/delivery. But they just reopened theaters, swimming pools, museums, and libraries today....or maybe it was yesterday. But people are refusing to wear masks, refusing to work from home, they don't want to close schools, and they actually just LOOSENED the restrictions in schools...now teachers don't have to distance either, and kids never did. And people are ignoring quarantine guidelines. And cases started going back up the day after they announced they were opening the theaters and museums, etc. back up. So I'm thinking we're going to spike hard.

He will but he has problems keeping his hands off his face more so when he's nervous. That also means he'll have problems not moving it around and not touching his eyes. We've been practicing in case he has to go anywhere, I also have goggles for him to wear if he does. Those he likes:rolleyes: He won't wear sunglasses but he'll keep the goggles on for a while
Whatever works I guess. It's better than nothing. A has some sensory issues...he won't wear regular pants, only jogging pants. They are softer and not as scratchy, and don't have a button that digs in, plus his motor skills aren't great, so buttons are hard. He used to come home every day from school and strip down to his underwear and tshirt because he HATED pants and socks. He still hates to get even a drop of water on his clothes...he has to change immediately it he gets "wet". So I get why a face mask is uncomfortable for him, and I'm sure he's not the only one in his school with those issues. I guess I should ask his teacher if the masks will be mandatory come Dec. 1st. They only said "Public buildings", but I'm not sure if schools are considered public buildings.

Gotta love Sly! His cousin had a pizza place called Stallone's Italian Kitchen down the road from Universal Studios Orlando. He had pictures of his actor cousin on the walls. The location closed several years ago. I saw Sly at Grand Cypress resort in Orlando about 25 years ago at a bar. It was around the time he was acting in The Specialist with Sharon Stone in South Florida. He actually is a short guy up close not like what you see in pictures but he was in incredible shape. All of us at the bar and fellow guests were reserved. We knew who he was and no one approached him.

Many years ago, a friend at work and I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger, who appeared on some sort of panel. He was wearing a suit and sitting at a long table other others. (Location was a shopping mall in the city.)

In person, he seemed smaller than on TV. I remember he had on light blue cowboy boots with the suit. He seemed very flirty and was trying to catch the eye of all the women watching (people were standing around the circumference of the table).

So am I!

Kylie had a slow recovery but is at about 80% now. It was a good 2 days before she could walk after getting the shot, but we couldn't understand the coincidental limping. Brian wondered if they gave her the shot in her leg? (They take them out of the room to give them a shot sometimes.) She's limping a lot less now, but still not perfect. But she's back on nighttime walks and tail wagging. Really not ready for her to go anywhere just yet.

On the plus side - barely any scratching or licking. Even her "Whistle" (like a fitbit plus for dogs) has been notifying us that her scratching and licking have decreased significantly. So that's good. She's resting a lot, and I just get the sense she is healing all over.

Brian is in his second semester, still getting all A's.

Thanksgiving will be at cousin Tiffany's house, just the three of us, one friend, one Uncle (brother of B's late Dad.) We have all been tested this week just to be safe, and the friend and Uncle never leave the house. Brian is cooking the turkey, per usual - he is very good at it!
Oh I'm so glad Kylie is on the mend. Rest is probably the best thing for her!! And yay for Brian making the A's! I wasn't sure if maybe his dad's health might make him postpone a semester....good for him to keep plugging through! I bet he's exhausted, though!

I take it things didn't improve with the stepmother?

Because Black Friday wasn't enough (we will open at 8AM and my goal is to not have to leave Thanksgiving dinner to finish putting things together) we are hosting a record show this weekend.

There is a local record show every 3 months or so down here. For obvious reasons, April was canceled. August was canceled. When I heard November was canceled, I felt bad for the vendors who don't have stores - where are they selling stuff? They have to be taking a hit this year. Plus I saw a business opportunity.

With the blessing of the guy who runs that show (I hope I haven't told this story already) I approached one of my landlords about an empty unit. They let me rent it for a song (ha!) for the weekend. This still involved getting a rider on my insurance, paying the electric company 4 deposits (because this unit used to be 4 separate units and has 4 electric systems) renting tables, using extra payroll, etc.

Some vendors have canceled due to fears of COVID, but we still have a good showing. I have about 20 tables set up right now. COVID protocols are old hat for us. Just like the stores, we will have hand sanitizer and gloves at the door, we will monitor for social distancing and require masks, wipe things down and spray door handles regularly, and keep 1-2 doors open at all times, weather permitting.

Should be good! Of course, I'll be anxious we don't have enough vendors/attendees until they show up!

Plus regular business going on in the background!
How far in advance do you start black Friday sales? It's stupid over here...Thanksgiving doesn't even exist, but they do Black Friday sales....starting last night! So we were getting 500 orders per hour last night and had to work late, and I'll probably have to work late tonight, too, and I have to work tomorrow afternoon. They are going to add Saturdays as a standard workday for us. But I don't get the concept of Black Friday week, especially starting a week BEFORE Black Friday.

My oldest has sensory issues that make clothes a "thing", too...jogging pants and plain t-shirts (no graphics on them) are his happy place. He doesn't enjoy wearing a mask, but he doesn't make a big deal out of it.

This year it's different for sure. Almost all the big retailers have been doing cyber deals since the first. Walmart instead of doing all their in store sales next weekend has been putting things out here and there. For instance last week we just stumbled into the movie deals when we were there.

@ajrwdwgirl , how is the teaching going lately? I have a feeling that you've been very busy dealing with all the various changes. I know that around here, many schools have a hybrid model. Sometimes that gets changed as well, if a kid tests positive. It's really difficult for schools and families to navigate through all this. I hope your area has a low infection rate.

Does your hubs have any in-person Sunday services, or does he do them online? Around here, the in-person attendance in various churches, etc., is down well over 50% for months now (even with social distancing, masks, etc.) People are nervous about congregating in enclosed spaces with others for 30-45 minutes. The TV (and online) services of many denominations, have picked up a large following, as a result.

My son too sweat pants and T shirts. He hates shirts with buttons because that can be a half day project just doing them correctly
