So far not good news for the back from the MRI, four bulging disks on L3, L4, L5 and S1. Between(ish) L5 and S1 I have a spinal hernia? Never heard of that before.

Meet with my spine doctor on Monday the 30th, Found out today from my regular doctor's posting on my health web page.

Oww.
Ooooh darn.....will pray that meeting on the 30th has some solutions for relief and restoration. Thanks for letting us know....been meaning to ask for update. ;) No fun.....

OH NO! Will keep you in my thoughts and send healing vibes...back pain is no bueno.

3 Vicodin day today, I'm allowed up to 4 a day but I try to limit myself to (2) just enough to keep the pain at bay.

Might be a muscle relaxer night to put me out.

Oww.

I'm so sorry for you. I had a herniated L5 (twice) and nearly lost my mind (and redheads can take pain, at least I can) but mine was caught Very early and I escaped surgery.

My dad suffered the same injury around the same time but he thought he'd tough it out, and then he wound up having to have surgery

Good luck, friend..

I had something similar to that (L2 - 3 - 4 - 5). They tried everything medicine, spinals. Everything short of surgery. Nothing worked! Since I get my medical attention from The VA, I finally decided to try and talk them into referring me to a Chiropractor. Not something that any "medical" doctor likes to do, but since they didn't have a way to fix it, they gave in and referred me. It took a little while, about a year, but I am now just on once a month adjustments. Pain gone, ability to walk and stand for long periods without pain and given a new life. I had pretty much given up for a while there.
Chiropractors are great, as long as they realize their limitations. My husband's cousin is a chiro, and when I hurt myself I went to him, and after a few adjustments it wasn't helping he told me to go to my GPand ask for an MRI, which he couldn't prescribe. The MRI showed a herniated disc, which was treated with bed rest, ice/heat, but no surgery

basically, I'm agreeing with you, and when chiropractors work with MDs, it's magical.
Eye Exam did well. Version didn't get worse and I do not have glaucoma.
I had my Eye exam today, and the doc was concerned about my Eye pressure. But I have no family history of glaucoma

I'm making everything but this year instead of lasagna we're downsizing to baked ziti

You know, I have tried introducing Italian elements to the holidays of this Irish/German family.

Often met with blank stares. Sometimes with "yum." Mostly blank stares.

I made baked ziti for Easter one time (as the first main course, per usual in an Italian home!) They ate it, but were confused.

I've made stuffed artichokes for Thanksgiving, and they were slightly horrified. Thought about doing them this year, I know the friend would appreciate it, but no one else will - and I have a boatload of work to do so...

I've made breaded shrimp and shrimp scampi for Christmas Eve to add to whatever they had (bringing "two" of seven fishes.) They were confused but loved the breaded shrimp.

These were all mostly large family events.

And last year, I posted here when I made my Grandma's lobster gravy for Christmas day just for us, Dad, WSM, and cousin. That went over well.

Just hanging back this year. Although, I may get some honeybaked ham. (We always liked the ham better than the turkey.)

We always have fine steak on Thanksgiving. Never a fan of the Big Bird. We always go out to dinner on Thanksgiving to a Fine dining steakhouse. This will be the first time in33 years we will break from that. Me and my kids. We will do our part to follow the guidelines to live for future years to have traditional holidays.

Owie, owie. :( What a drag. People with back medical issues really have a tough time. (I've known a few, aside of yourself.) The only positive thing is that now the doctor can see exactly the areas affected, after the MRI. That's critical information, right there.

Glad to hear that you will have an appt. with the spine specialist on the 30th, and I hope the dr. can find a solution, to relieve your pain. We're all pulling for you here, and please let us know how you're doing.

This is so funny. :p I think what it comes down to, is that many people don't like change -- any change AT ALL to their routine. There you were, cooking up all these fun dishes and thoroughly confusing the dinner guests! :hilarious: I don't mean to make fun of your good efforts, but your post just completely cracked me up this morning.

(Unrelated to the above, but very glad to hear that Kylie is doing better. 🐶 Also, kudos to Brian for doing so well in school.) :)

Lastly, best of luck with your holiday attempts at sales. Gotta say, Tony, you are one of the most creative people I know. Just keeping your business afloat during this past year, is an achievement all in itself. Fingers crossed for a successful season of sales for you.

Gotta love Sly! His cousin had a pizza place called Stallone's Italian Kitchen down the road from Universal Studios Orlando. He had pictures of his actor cousin on the walls. The location closed several years ago. I saw Sly at Grand Cypress resort in Orlando about 25 years ago at a bar. It was around the time he was acting in The Specialist with Sharon Stone in South Florida. He actually is a short guy up close not like what you see in pictures but he was in incredible shape. All of us at the bar and fellow guests were reserved. We knew who he was and no one approached him.
