Yeah there are some Americans who don't present themselves properly, but if you go there and say you are American then the people in the foreign country will know that there are plenty of decent ones. My mom was a travel agent so I was able to travel the world at a young age. I remember we rented a condo one year in Italy for 3 weeks. Everyone in the complex was from Europe. There were Germans, Swedes, Swiss, Dutch, etc. They were all families. My family had no problem getting along with the others. We spent every afternoon in the pool with the other families, and I enjoyed hanging out with the kids. They could all speak English and I felt like a star when they found out we were American. I felt like a magnet to the other kids. They all wanted to talk to me about life here. I thought it was so cool. I think it was my favorite summer as a teen. I will never forget it. I would never go anywhere and never say I am not an American.

Yep, I would never pretend I was anything other than American either...!!!!!
For some reason this just reminded me of the “Happy Days” episode where Richie, Ralph, and Potsie go to Lake Whitefish for a weekend and pretend to be “...three Tunisian camel jockeys.” to meet girls, because they thought that would be more interesting than three guys from Milwaukee...!!!!!!! :hilarious:

Here’s the Chicken Maori I made tonight. It was very tasty so I’m glad I tried a new recipe. Hubs says it is definitely a make again. I also made a type of fried rice to go with it.

I made a half recipe of the sauce and I’m glad I did because even that was a lot.

I'll be honest here. If I had to have that many ingredients and that many steps for one meal I can guarantee you that Chicken Nuggets would be what I actually ended up with. Just the list of ingredients alone were beyond belief.

The closest I ever came to a recipe that detailed and large was when I worked for a true Italian guy and he gave me his recipe for Spaghetti Sauce. It had things like canned tomatoes but only the type that were imported from Italy and there was only one store in the whole state of Vermont where you could buy them. Sausage, meat balls, pork chops (whole), pieces of ham and chicken. Required a simmering time of 8 hours.

I made it a few times and made enough to freeze for a years supply at once. I think my X left with that recipe and she must have tossed it because it hasn't been seen in any of stuff that she left behind. That Chicken Maori looks really good, but I don't think I could get myself to put that much effort and expense into one meal. I wouldn't object to being invited to share some of yours though. ;) 😛😷

When on the Trans-Atlantic cruise in 2015 one of our ports of call consisted of Pisa, Florence and a vineyard in Tuscany where we had a meal and sampled wine. Our bus was late arriving and when it got there this one obnoxious lady started yelling at the driver because he was late. He tried to explain that the person that was supposed to do the run was a no show and that he was called in on his day off to do it. He said he was sorry he was late but, he got there as quickly as he could. That didn't stop her because all she did was make nasty comments and complain about it the whole time. I had two feelings, one was embarrassment that this lady (loosely said) was such a witch and I felt guilty that as an American we would all be judged by this one sub-human. I ended up giving the guy the equivalent of a $50.00 tip and as I gave it to him I quietly asked him not to think all of us were jerks. Others in the group had done the same thing and I will bet that he was well rewarded for trying to be nice and carting our entitled butts around some very nice areas in Italy. I hate some people!

Sorry. It's a day trip for us, 1.5 hours each way. I think it's officially 54 miles each way. We've never even stayed up there, although we've talked about doing a night or two; the Hotel Hershey looks really, really nice.
Hotel Hershey is really nice. We stayed there once when we still lived in Jersey. Only had 2 kids at the time, an infant and 2 year old. We saw a Disney on Ice show at the Giant Center. Timon patted my oldest on the head as he was passing by.

I'm actually pretty happy with this. They can't control this situation, so they're basically discounting our renewals for next year, giving us a free ticket to bring a friend (the tickets run $60 a piece) and aren't charging us until reopening. Seems fair given that this is completely beyond anyone's control. Hershey does a pretty good job of keeping their season passholders happy.
They do treat the passholders well it seems. I hadn’t read the other info you posted. I was just too disgusted when I saw June to bother reading much. Thanks for the info.

It’s really so sad for all of these athletes. I wonder what they’re going to do about age brackets moving up. for example, in baseball, the pitching mound is farther back this year..T had several private training sessions where he threw from that distance, but he’s also been pitching for 2 years already., the kids who are a year younger will miss a year, and then still have the mound moved back next year.

T is growing so bored of practicing by himself, we have arguments over it now. He pitches to me when I’m home, or throws and catches a ball, and does bat off his tee to practice his swing, but it’s no the same.

Same with soccer. I just bought a kickboard yesterday from a trainer who is making and selling them.. hoping that will encourage him to work on his pass accuracy and first touch, etc... it can be titled to have the ball come back at your chest to work on that too...that should be more fun than just cone work... but he’s sick of the 1.5 hour training sessions alone. He’s maybe completed 3 total of that amount of time. He likes the Zoom sessions much better, but they’re not every day.

I can imagine that a gymnast of cheer athlete would be falling so far behind where they should be, it’s almost impossible to practice it all at home.

I know you said you have a mat, do you have a trampoline that she can use? It wouldn’t be a replacement, but would help. I used the tramp for diving a lot. We also had a foam pit to practice, but obviously not at home.. which wouldn’t help her. :(
We have an air track which is like a spring floor without the springs and is smaller. It is 13x3x6. So she can practice some skills, but I really don’t know how to spot and she is 50 pounds and I am rather weak in the arms. :hilarious: Neither of us wants her to get hurt. It is definitely more boring for her to practice alone then with her old team. I did get her kids messenger so she could talk to some friends on her ipad. She was on with her one friend on Tuesday for 2 hours! Since she hasn’t seen her in a month I was ok with that.Still hoping for an opening up by May.

Must be really hard for kids, dealing with the loss of being in groups of friends that can practice together. Kids need to burn off energy, too, and I can only imagine how disappointed your DD must be. (It's different for us adults, as we can embrace hanging around like sloths all day. :hilarious: )

Being homeschooled, cheer was an activity that let her get together with lots of kids. Aside from the bit of drama this past season, it is a great sport for kids like other sports. It teaches that dedication and hard work pays off in the long run.

Looks great, but man that is a LOT of ingredients for one sauce. It used to be that I would shy away from any recipe that had more than 5 ingredients. Now I think around 10 is my limit!

Nice job! That looks good. It sounds pretty much like a basic bbq sauce recipe. I would definitely try it. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I have this cookbook. B72A1FE6-C15E-453A-9AAC-49E9D943F4D1.jpeg

I agree there were a lot of ingredients but once they were all assembled it didn't take much time to make, the sauce was basically mixing the ingredients together. I did leave a few ingredients out, I didn't have the pineapple juice and I didn't add the brown sugar because with the honey I thought it had enough sugar already. The spaghetti sauce you mentioned seems kind of like one I saw in this Disney cookbook that had the chicken maori, it had a ton of ingredients too including pastrami and corned beef.

Oh and if you are ever in Wisconsin I would gladly cook for you! :)

My mom had that cookbook too. I remember there were a lot of good recipes in there too. I think my sister has the copy that was my mom's I've thought about buying a copy from Amazon or Ebay, maybe now is the time. And the sauce was like a BBQ sauce but different than the regular BBQ we make or use.
