In Wisconsin, some restaurants are close due to the coronavirus. In the part of Wisconsin I am from, some of the restaurants are closed due by choice before Trump's speech. Before Trump's speech, Wisconsin's bars and Restaurants were under 50 people restrictions.
Our governor shut down our restaurants, but you can still get carry out. So for instance, you can go into a Qdoba, order, get your food, and leave, but you can't sit there and eat it. And Chilli's can stay open, but you have to do carry out, if that makes sense.

I personally like the memes. If I don't laugh, I think I might actually cry, so I'd rather laugh.

I just don’t think it’s funny. Joke in person if one wants to.. but leave it off FB. I have the utmost respect for moms who homeschool... but I am so sick of reading their memes the past few days.

There’s a difference between planning to homeschool, and now figuring out how your kids are going to learn at home while you’re off at work.

Our library's web site just updated: library will be closed for a few weeks. (No access to my favorite, expensive financial and business publications, no books to browse, no videos to check out and take home.)

I know a section of a local library is open, but it is used for voting early for the Spring elections starting to today to April 5th. Rest of the Library is closed.

We still have to print our stupid Friday hot lunch papers, and field trip papers. 🤦‍♀️ Everyone complains about that. Lol

I would never accept that from anyone! Can do me a favor though and ask your oldest what they would charge?. I’m very curious.
Tell them- “be home with an almost 10year old, paid cash for minimum of 3 weeks, use of WiFi computer and printer if needed, 2-3 hours of uninterrupted time to do their own school work, all favorite drinks, food, snacks provided (I would get delivery for lunch and dinner as long as it’s available)..us of basketball court, trampoline, soccer/baseball equipment anytime other than the mandatory online-school time- make sure my kid is on the computer during that time.”

T doesn’t really need someone to watch and entertain him, I’m just not comfortable with him being home alone...so want someone at the house or in the yard. I realize that’s still “babysitting”, but I don’t know.. to me $200-$250 per week sounds fair 🤷‍♀️.
I think your price is really good. My oldest babysits her siblings and we don't pay her. We are mean. ;) My neighbor paid her once and it was $20 for a couple of hours.

I have high school freshman and sophomores asking for $500-$750 per week to be at home with a 10 year old... and adults who are acting like this is totally normal and acceptable. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I’m not over the top stressed yet, but I feel like I’m in an alternate universe.

I want to know how many young adults brought home $750 per week after taxes from their job during school, while having all meals provided, and allowed to do your own personal work during that time.
None!!! That is highway robbery.

It is a hard transition for sure. I was scared as heck my first year.

I agree. I think it’s crazy to ask $10-$15 per hour for a 45hour week while they’re doing school work, and can’t go anywhere anyway.
I offered $200 to each, hoping they might ask for $250.. none did, so I gave up.

I’m going to Best Buy for nanny cams within the next hour. I’m going to go in the office in the morning, leave for a few hours to go home, then come back... T is going to be home alone on camera. I don’t have any other choice at this point.

I refuse to pay as much as those kids are asking. I’m just sad thinking about him being by himself all day.

My parents worked when I was younger. I remember being home alone at 10. I was responsible and I know T is from how you describe him.

Normally I'd say don't do it but T is very responsible and he'll be fine just make sure he has snacks and a chore list;) I got my first babysitting job in 5th grade

Im making a schedule for him. His soccer club started their online training today.. it’s an hours worth so that’s a time block added to the school time. I can have food delivered to him for hot meals (I don’t want him to cook!)... My biggest concern is the neighborhood kids. NO ONE will be allowed inside when I’m not home. And he is NOT allowed to just run around/ride his bike or scooter around the neighborhood. He’ll have to call me if someone invites him over, and I need to talk to the parent first. I trust him for the most part, but I worry about those things.
