Our governor has schools shutting down on Wednesday but since our school had Spring Break last week we are closed as of today because of people traveling. As for staff, no teachers or paraprofessionals are allowed in the building this week. In fact the key system has been shut off. I live near the school and can see one of the parking lots from one of my windows and when I looked out this morning I saw a lot of cars in the parking lot and I freaked out that I had this all wrong and I was supposed to go to work today, so I reread the email and it is just custodial and food service staff reporting. Whew! Anyway, teachers and paras are supposed to report on Monday 23rd but no information has been given yet if we are going to prepare home lessons or work on curriculum projects. I suppose our administration is working on that and waiting to see what our state's DPI recommends.

As for our students not all of our students have phones or laptops, and not all have internet access. It is a rural community and some areas where kids live are in some cellular/internet deadspots. So if we do any online learning we will have to make sure paper packets/books are somehow given to students too. I'm hoping we get more info soon.

That's interesting about T's stuff needed to be printed out, you'd think it could be turned in digitally.

We still have to print our stupid Friday hot lunch papers, and field trip papers. 🤦‍♀️ Everyone complains about that. Lol

If you lived nearby I would do it for free.

I would never accept that from anyone! Can do me a favor though and ask your oldest what they would charge?. I’m very curious.
Tell them- “be home with an almost 10year old, paid cash for minimum of 3 weeks, use of WiFi computer and printer if needed, 2-3 hours of uninterrupted time to do their own school work, all favorite drinks, food, snacks provided (I would get delivery for lunch and dinner as long as it’s available)..us of basketball court, trampoline, soccer/baseball equipment anytime other than the mandatory online-school time- make sure my kid is on the computer during that time.”

T doesn’t really need someone to watch and entertain him, I’m just not comfortable with him being home alone...so want someone at the house or in the yard. I realize that’s still “babysitting”, but I don’t know.. to me $200-$250 per week sounds fair 🤷‍♀️.

I can't handle it. Every Disney park being closed and not knowing when they'll reopen just is too much for me emotionally to handle. Maybe it's a tad frivolous given the overall severity of this situation, but when Disney closes, it feels like life has stopped. I'm trying not to be dramatic here, but that's what it feels like.

Besides, I really can't cry, so I'll just get a massive headache instead. And I don't care to have one.

I understand how you feel. Disney might be "frivolous" but it is something we (I) care deeply about and to see it closed is sad. It represents happiness and positivity, at least to me, and we all need more of that in this world. When the news broke about the closing of Disneyland and WDW I at first felt relieved that it was happening after my vacation was over. Then I immediately thought of how I would have felt had it happened at the start of my trip and I was then saddened with the thought of all the cancellations of people who had scrimped and saved and dreamed of their Disney trips and now that was ruined. On Saturday we stood behind a dad with two kids and he had the family vacation plan in his hand all neatly typed out with carefully planned plans, and Saturday March 14 was labeled as Day One. :( Then we passed a Make a Wish kid later in the day in her wheelchair and it made me sad again to think of those kids and families that have been through so much and were looking forward to some happiness and normalcy for a bit and now that is gone too. I realize that there are going to people with worse problems due to these closures and I sympathize with them too. It is a tough time right now for sure.

It doesn't really make sense to me, though....if it was a distraction for the US government to extend spying, why would governments world wide be going along with it? Why would European countries make it easier for the US to gather intelligence on them? It's not just the US shutting everything down...it's all over. Maybe it's a convenient excuse for it, but if they are wanting to expand the PRISM project, they'll do it anyway....this is just convenient timing for them. But I don't think it's a manufactured crisis just to roll out ways to spy, because then the rest of the world wouldn't be involved. Just my take, and what do I know. But it doesn't seem likely to be a fake crisis.
It's opportunism.
In my country for example, they used to push for negative laws and bad plans during football(not hand egg) games.
and being honest.. the UK pretty much goes along with US plans. China and Russia have their own "iron curtains" and anti privacy systems.

Breathe and try and relax. Maybe not watch, I worry about your stress levels while you're still on the mend

I have high school freshman and sophomores asking for $500-$750 per week to be at home with a 10 year old... and adults who are acting like this is totally normal and acceptable. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I’m not over the top stressed yet, but I feel like I’m in an alternate universe.

I want to know how many young adults brought home $750 per week after taxes from their job during school, while having all meals provided, and allowed to do your own personal work during that time.

While I was gone at WDW 5 books came in that I had ordered on my library system but they were due to be sent back on March 13 if I didn't pick them up. Huge bummer but I went to my library this morning when it opened hoping that maybe they didn't get sent back. And when I walked in the door the librarian went to the hold shelf right away and got my books. She figured I was probably on Spring Break vacation so she held them for me! 😍 That's a perk of living in a small town I guess! Love my library!
