Digital Spy has debuted two new UK character banners for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, opening in theaters on December 16.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the mystery action adventure stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Fry and Rachel McAdams.

Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Marsan), points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by Professor Moriarty. The cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead of Holmes as he spins a web of death and destruction—all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history.

It was inconceivable to us that unofficial, blurry copies of EW’s photo of The Princess Bride‘s reunited cast have been floating around the Internet. Of course, for any fan of the 1987 fairy tale classic, seeing the real picture of the cast (check out the lovely homages to the late Peter Falk and André the Giant) would be more wonderful than even the most passionate and the most pure kisses. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to Draft Micronauts

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have come aboard Paramount Pictures' big screen adaptation of Micronauts as writers, Deadline reports.

First announced for development nearly two years ago, Micronauts will be produced by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Super 8) and will be based on the Japanese interchangeable toys, now owned by Hasbro.

First released in Japan in 1974 as Microman, the toys were imported to the U.S. by the Mego Corporation two years later. The mythology was then expanded in a Marvel Comics series, beginning in 1979. Subsequent takes on the property were offered in comic book form by Image Comics and Devil's Due Publishing with each iteration offering very different takes on the toy universe. There is not yet word on whether any of those specific takes will influence the feature film version.

Reese and Wernick are best known for writing Zombieland and worked on a different Hasbro Toy property for Paramount with the upcoming G.I. Joe sequel.

Will Transformers 4 & 5 Shoot Back-to-Back?
Source: Variety October 17, 2011

Following this morning's report that says a third sequel to 2007's Transformers is in "active discussions," comes word, via Variety that the plan may actually be to shoot a fourth and a fifth film back to back. The same article also states that Shia LaBeouf is unlikely to return and that the franchise may instead place Jason Statham in a leading role, though no official negotiations have begun.

Michael Bay, meanwhile, is said to be interested in returning to direct but, again, nothing is official at this time. No matter what, Bay is likely to complete his next, Pain & Gain, before production on another Transformers would begin, potentially as early as late 2012.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon was an immense financial hit earlier this summer, reaching the fourth spot on the all-time worldwide box office list with $1.119 billion earned.

Transformers 4 and 5 to shoot back to back, Jason Statham sought for lead

by: Paul Tassi Oct. 18, 2011

Yesterday I reported that Hasbro was talking to Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg to get them onboard for another go at TRANSFORMERS. However, this doesn’t mean the movies won’t happen without them.

Now the talk is that whoever is involved will probably end up shooting TRANSFORMERS 4 and 5 together as a cost cutting measure, as there will be less of a rush to get the visual effects done and less finagling with the actors’ contracts between films.

The report also says that Shia LaBeouf is in fact not on board, echoing his earlier expressed desire to make the third film his last. Those involved with the film are looking at Jason Statham to star, who, if I had to guess, would be playing some sort of central soldier role. Unknown is which random hot girl will be assuredly cast alongside him.

Is there really a contingent clamoring for more of these movies? Just because audiences show up to make something profitable doesn’t mean the series should continue forever. Though that applies to every damn movie series these days and is a laughable notion in Hollywood.

6-Minute Dark Knight Rises Prologue with Mission: Impossible?
Source: /Film October 19, 2011

/Film has posted an interesting rumor that Warner Bros. Pictures is planning on showing a six-minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises with Paramount Pictures' early release of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol in IMAX theaters on December 16 (the film has its general release on Dec. 21).

It would be a similar situation as The Dark Knight, from which Warner Bros. attached the opening sequence to the Will Smith hit I Am Legend in IMAX theaters in December of 2007.

We should be seeing a press release about this soon if this is indeed confirmed. We're also assuming a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises will be attached to Warner Bros.' own Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows on Dec. 21, but that also is not confirmed yet.

The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters on July 20, 2012.

Source: Deadline , Pilkey.com October 19, 2011

DreamWorks Animation has plans to develop the popular children's book series Captain Underpants into a feature film, Deadline reports.

Written and illustrated by Dav Pilkey, Captain Underpants made his first appearance in 1997's "The Adventures of Captain Underpants." Pilkey describes the plot on his official site as follows:

Meet George and Harold, a couple of wise guys. The only thing they enjoy more than playing practical jokes is creating their own comic books. And together they have created the greatest comic-book superhero in the history of their elementary school - CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS!

But George and Harold's principal, mean old Mr. Krupp, doesn't like their pranks or their comic books. And he's cooked up a plan to catch George and Harold and stop their shenanigans - once and for all! This book is about what happened when that plan backfired, and Captain Underpants leaped off the page to save the day!

Captain Underpants returned for a further seven adventures, the most recent of which was released in 2006.

DreamWorks Animation's next project, Puss In Boots, hits theaters on October 28th.

Sony Pictures Picking Up Assassin's Creed Film Rights
Source: Variety October 20, 2011

Back in May, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the film and TV production arm of the game publishing company, announced it was developing 3D feature films based on Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. Variety now says that the Assassin's Creed adaptation has found a home at Sony Pictures.

The trade says that the studio is in final negotiations to adapt and distribute the movie, landing the film rights in a bidding war after Ubisoft started shopping the property over the last several months.

The fourth installment of the games, Assassin's Creed: Revelations is set to hit the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 15.

Earlier this year, Jean de Rivieres, Ubisoft's senior VP of international marketing and distribution, said "Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises -- that's why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games' primary target audience."

Baronnet added, "We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we're open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script."

Sony is also developing big screen adaptations of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and inFAMOUS.
