The first trailer for Wrath of the Titans is now online, courtesy of iTunes Trailers. You can check it out in the player below, along with the film's poster and several new pieces of promotional artwork for the March 30, 2012 release.

A decade after his historic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.

Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus' godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramírez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth.

Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the first trailer and artwork for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on December 14, 2012. You can view them both below!

"The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever... Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

"An Unexpected Journey" will be followed up by The Hobbit: There and Back Again on December 13, 2013.

Live Action Akira Put on Hold .....

Live Action Akira Put on Hold
Source: The Hollywood Reporter January 5, 2012

It's been a rough road for Warner Bros.' live-action adaptation of Akira, but the project seemed to be moving steadily forward after receiving the green light from the studio last October. Today, however, The Hollywood Reporter has word that pre-production has been halted so that the film's budget can be reworked, bringing the current $90 million pricetag down by at least $20 million if the project is to move forward.

Famously adapted as an anime in 1988, Akira is based on the original manga by Katsuhiro Otomo, depicting a sci-fi cyberpunk dystopia. The new version is said to relocate the action to "New Manhattan" rather than "Neo-Tokyo."

To be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the live-action adaptation features a script from Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Gary Whitta and Steve Kloves. Though Garrett Hedlund is the only attached actor, Helena Bonham Carter, Kristen Stewart and Ken Wattanabe are all said to be up for parts as well.

Collet-Serra will work with the producers to try and drive down costs as the script is finalized over the next two weeks, but if that doesn't happen to the studio's satisfaction, the project could be off the table entirely.

New Line is moving forward with their planned remake of Police Academy and have placed Scott Zabielski at the helm. Known for producing and directing episodes of "Tosh.0," Zabielski will be making his feature film debut.

The original seven-film comedy series starred actors such Steve Guttenberg, G.W. Bailey, Bobcat Goldthwait, Bubba Smith, David Graf, Marion Ramsey, Michael Winslow, Kim Cattrall and Sharon Stone and detailed the comical misadventures of police training.

Bizarrely, one bit of Zabielski's resume that seems to have helped him get the gig is the fact that he has actually trained in law enforcement and works to this day as a West Hollywood reserve officer.

Richard Schiff Joins Man of Steel as Emil Hamilton.....

Richard Schiff Joins Man of Steel as Emil Hamilton
Source: Variety January 9, 2012

A late addition to the cast, Richard Schiff ("The West Wing") has joined Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, Man of Steel. Variety reports that Schiff will play "Doctor Hamilton," almost certainly the Professor Emil Hamilton of the comics.

First appearing in "Adventures of Superman" #424 in 1987, Emil Hamilton has been portrayed as both an enemy and ally of Superman over the years. A scientific expert, Hamilton is often connected to S.T.A.R. Labs, a top-secret government research and development laboratory.

In recent years, Hamilton has been written as a villain in the comic book series, forming the alternate identity "Ruin" and setting out to destroy Clark Kent's life.

Hamilton was a regular on the "Superman: The Animated Series" television show (pictured above) where he was voiced by Victor Brandt. More recently, he appeared on "Smallville", played by Alessandro Juliani. Earlier in the series there was also a Dr. Steven Hamilton (played by Joe Morton) who is believed to have been inspired by the same character.

Now filming, Man of Steel's cast also includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix and Laurence Fishburne. It is targeting a June 14, 2013 release.

Steven Spielberg Talks Robopocalypse
Source: Time Out , The Playlist January 12, 2012

Attached to the project in late 2010, Steven Spielberg plans to make Robopocalypse his next film after this year's Lincoln. He discussed the project briefly with Time Out (via The Playlist, dropping a few details about what moviegoers can expect.

"It’s a movie about a global war between man and machine," says Spielberg, likening the sci-fi aspect to his Minority Report. "...t’s a future that is coming true faster than any of us thought it would. 'Robopocalypse' takes place in 15 or 20 years, so it’ll be another future we can relate to. It’s about the consequences of creating technologies which make our lives easier, and what happens when that technology becomes smarter than we are. It’s not the newest theme, it’s been done throughout science fiction, but it’s a theme that becomes more relevant every year."

Based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson, Robopocalypse has been adapted by Drew Goddard and is expected to go into production this year for a 2013 release.

Tim Burton Talks Beetlejuice 2....

Check it out:

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=85932

Tim Burton Talks Beetlejuice 2
Source: MTV News January 12, 2012

It was first announced last September that Warner Bros. was interested in developing a sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 comedy, Beetlejuice. Then, in October, it was said that leading man Michael Keaton was being sought to reprise his role. Now, MTV News confirms that Burton is definitely participating in some capacity.

"Yes," responded Burton when asked if he was involved with the project. "I love that character, and Michael is so great in it. I always think about how great and fun that character was, so I just said to Seth [Grahame-Smith], 'If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I'll look at it freshly... In the past, I tried some things, but that was way back when. He seemed really excited about it."

While the original film spawned a lesser-known animated series, a sequel was planned in the early '90s with the title Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Burton had planned to return as director, but the project failed to develop beyond an initial screenplay. It is currently unknown whether or not David Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith's upcoming script will have any crossover with that original concept, but Burton's comments make it sound unlikely.

New International American Reunion Trailer
Source: MSN January 17, 2012

Universal Pictures has released this new international trailer for American Reunion which starts similar to the previously-released trailer but features new footage in the second half. You can check it out below!

Hitting theaters on April 6, the Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg comedy stars Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jennifer Coolidge, Eugene Levy, Natasha Lyonne and Shannon Elizabeth.

In the film, all the "American Pie" characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn't and that time and distance can't break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler's mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

Platinum and Producer Mark Canton Team on Atlantis Rising Movie...

Platinum and Producer Mark Canton Team on Atlantis Rising Movie
Source: Platinum Studios January 19, 2012

Platinum Studios Inc. chairman Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and producer Mark Canton (300, Immortals) announced today that they are immediately putting the Platinum Studios comic book Atlantis Rising into development for a new, ongoing film franchise. Atlantis Rising is just one of the titles in Platinum Studios' international library of thousands of comic book characters which it adapts, produces, and licenses for all forms of media.

Created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Atlantis Rising was first published as a five-issue mini-series that had been previously optioned to DreamWorks. Platinum Studios recently regained the production rights, allowing them to reboot the series and to team up with Canton. The film is set against an undersea civilization that began over 10,000 years ago, and whose presence is unknown to the surface population.

"'Atlantis Rising' has the franchise potential of 'Men in Black,' which I green lit for Scott while at Sony's Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Companies," says Mark Canton. "I'm looking forward to bringing it to the screen with Platinum as a dynamic, state of the art action thriller."

Canton, who is chairman and CEO of Atmosphere Entertainment, has been on the Platinum Studios' board of directors since 2010. Atmosphere Entertainment's recent films include Relativity's Immortals which has grossed over $210 million in worldwide box office sales; Warner Bros.' 300, based on the best-selling graphic novel by Frank Miller; and The Spiderwick Chronicles, based upon the best-selling book series, for Paramount Pictures.

"'Atlantis Rising' is a provocative sci-fi thriller that at its core brings up the question: whose planet is this?" adds Scott Rosenberg. "We hope to duplicate that achievement after the enormous success of the 'Men in Black' franchise."

Spoiler for The Dark Knight Rises....

Check out this spoiler for The Dark Knight:

http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/actress-joey-king-reveals-major-spoiler-for-the-dark-knight-rises

for The Dark Knight Rises
by: Paul Shirey Jan. 20, 2012

Out of respect for those who don’t want to know every detail (and for those who do) I’m going to reiterate that this is a pretty big spoiler in terms of a certain character, so if you want to remain in the “dark,” then hit the back button on your browser and continue to enjoy the other fine stories from your pals here at JoBlo.

Okay, still here? Cool. So, check it out, twelve-year-old actress Joey King, whose character had not been named when cast, has revealed who she’s playing in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

Any guesses? I’ll clear it up for you with her own quote from an interview with My Entertainment World:

“I play young Talia al Ghul.”

She goes on to say, “I can’t give too much away because I promised Mr. Nolan I wouldn’t say anything. There are too many secrets about the character and the movie.”

Uh, you just gave away a major one there, young lady.

This should help clear up the mystery of who Marion Cotillard is playing, despite her insistency that it is NOT Talia al Ghul. Yeah, nice try, Marion.

I’ve been reading Batman comics for more than 15 years and everything about Cotillard’s appearance, wardrobe, and general fit within the storyline adds up to one Talia al Ghul. And, hey, I’m excited about it. Talia is one of Batman’s greatest foe’s in the comics (and the mother of his son, Damien…aka the current Robin), who acts as both a cunning villain and a secret lover. Makes for some great conflict for ol’ Bruce Wayne.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens on July 20th, 2012. Thanks for buying up all the IMAX tickets for opening night before I could get one, by the way.

The Wolverine Gets a Release Date
Source: 20th Century Fox February 7, 2012

Despite some production delays, the highly-anticipated franchise sequel, The Wolverine, appears to be back on track and now has an official release date of July 26, 2013.

To be directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine will follow up 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine and finds Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai.

The new release date tentatively puts the project up against Lionsgate's Dirty Dancing remake and Walt Disney Pictures' Phineas and Ferb film.

Christopher McQuarrie provided the original screenplay with rewrites performed by Mark Bomback.

Douglas Fairbanks, Guy Williams, Antonio Banderas and others have played the iconic swashbuckling character Zorro, but now a new name can be added to that list as Variety is saying that Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal (Y Tu Mama Tambien) will be donning the mask of Zorro for a new futuristic reboot from 20th Century Fox.

A few months back, Sony hired writers to reboot their Zorro franchise, but 20th Century Fox has decided to move ahead with their own Zorro project tentatively called Zorro Reborn, which won't be set either in California or Mexico but will have Bernal's Zorro as a masked vigilante looking for revenge. Written by Glenn Gers, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, the project is still looking for a director.
