EPCOT Test Track to be reimagined

This must be a writing error, it lists John Williams for music in the Wikipedia page for Test Track. 🤨

There’s been nothing about music in the press releases. Unless it’s true, someone’s wrote this by mistake. 🤷‍♂️

I'm a bit surprised they haven't provided more info yet, but probably waiting til D23.

I could see them doing a minor refresh, changing the queue setup (guessing the car design stuff will be gone), replacing the "TRON" style set pieces, but unless they need to upgrade the ride system, it might not take too long.

Anyone else getting a "forward" vibe from the logo, the hexes becoming arrows as they move forward

My sister and I loved it - as kids and as adults. Though as adults it became our mission to create the ugliest/weirdest car possible (but always pink with either the sparkles or butterflies). 😅

Wow. You unlocked a memory for me. I forgot we tried to make a monstrosity our first time.

Interesting that there was a revenue aspect to it. I always wondered if Chevy got any market research info from the ride... not like "Oh, people like to put 3' tires on their car... we should implement that in our next model"... but more like "people really seem to like this specific color, we should use that more in our marketing"...

I hope they didn't take all cars as research considering what some of us did. They'd wind up with something like The Homer.

FIGMENT'S ALL YOU CAN IMAGINE BUFFET, COMING SOON TO EPCOT (in the WOL building)

The food they serve

If they let me have this, I’ll put it in the front yard. The neighbors will ask, what is it? I’ll say, I don’t know.

That guy who got the Animal Kingdom unicorn statue should add it to his collection.

Welcome back WALLCOT

WallCOT is dead.

Long live the WallCOT.

I removed it, let's see if someone puts it back.

I went to check, worried it may have been a hasty move. Saw it was an IP without sources and you'd given the reason for removal. That's some good Wikipedia'ing.

Probably not a real date, but perfect timing for Labor day and Destination D23.

Or maybe bring Destination D23 forward to mid August like D23 this year, and preview TT3 for the attendees..

Now, I might be able to make an August Destination D23 next year. So.... I fully approve that plan. Two thumbs up. Excellent work. Go for it.

Edit to say: in my excitement at the perfection of the scenario I misread the year - apologies. However, I maintain that this would be the perfect plan!

I find this fascinating b/c no one knows what the hell this revamp will turn out to be. WOM and TT could not be more dissimilar - it's like saying they are rebuilding Space Mountain with inspiration from It's a Small World.

I predict less is happening here than we think (which will disappoint WOM fans like me). Pure speculation, but I would guess the ride maintains the same track, maybe slower in parts but similar speed overall while keeping the acceleration portion - and perhaps we get some scenes or screens with a history element...and It's Fun to Be Free will be played or at minimum written on the wall in the queue......but I certainly know nothing and hope we get something unexpected and interesting.

Oh for sure the same track. I think less about “testing” and more learning about innovations in transportation. I’m hoping they recreate at least one scene from world of motion and recreate the “feel” of a couple more.

Alot more static figures would go a long way if proper AAs aren’t in the cards for this. Looking back at WoM, a handful of those figures were legitimate AAs but there were also a handful of static & animated figures present at the same time. With the faster speed of TT, I could accept static vignettes with some movement & projection mapping, whether its 1:1 scaled down scenes from WoM, brand news ones, or a bit of both
