Tarzan does rock

I have seen it twice and love it! It's almost like looking in a mirror when I see the body on the guy who plays Tarzan! lol. Besides, the Asian girl..I think Kim is her name? She is incredible I think...She can come sing for me any day if Tarzan leaves! ;)

I was really disappointed in Tarzan Rocks!, it really didn't do it for me. I love Phil Collins but the singers didn't do him justice and it seemed like more of a rock concert then an actual show. Something was missing, because the Lion King is almost the same exact format but it still was far more enjoyable that this. I'm not sad its leaving but I hope Tarzan is represented somewhere else in the park.
Took the words out of my mouth. The "younger folks" excuse doesn't cut it for me. I'm 20, and I first saw the show when I was 14-15. I have not really enjoyed any of the times I've seen it since that first time (I've seen it maybe 3 times). I love Phil Collins' versions of the songs, and I really do not think the show does the music any justice. It's just me though, because obviously others enjoy it. Just not me

As a singer myself, I love Tarzan simply for that fact that it is one of the only places I can actually see people sing live within a show in the parks! Yes, I know Ariel (I haven't seen an Ariel who could sing in years and I've gone every year for the past 21 years!), Beauty & the Beast (not a very good representation of the movie IMO), FOTLK, and the unparalleled Voices of Liberty. But Tarzan has a different feel to it. As someone said, it IS more of a rock concert, which highly appeals to me, perhaps its because I'm 24 but probably not because my parents love it as well! But also because of the talent of the band, as well as the singers.

As a music lover and a Disney lover, I love the blend of live music, talented singers, gymnastics, extreme sports, and dance. I think the concept is wonderfully executed. So needless to say, I am extremely sad to lose this show. I imagine I'll feel the same way I did when we lost Hunchback a few years back. I still get sad over it and probably always will to see such Disney magic destroyed.

Well, I guess I'll have to plan a trip before then....*getting out the credit card!*
I am right there with ya!! I love Tarzan Rocks!!! Belle

I love the Tarzan show so much!! I am also 18, and I cannot get enough of it. I sing aloud with the show and dance. I like the Jungle Book, but it will be sad to see the Tarzan show go. Just another reason for me to go to Tokyo Disneyland.

I always thought the show was so-so at best.

BUT, the worst part of the show is the fact that some days you can hear Phil Collins halfway across the park. Bad show! :hurl:

For some reason I am thinking there was a jungle book show there for a very short period of time. When I went in Feb 1999 I can remember there being one because my mom and my cousin were singing the "I wanna be like you" song. I am almost positive. Then Tarzan Rocks was there when I went back a couple years later.

I wish they would do something with Brother Bear. Its one of my favorite Disney movies. And koda is just way too cute :)

Thanks Belle! It's good to know someone else feels the same way! :sohappy:

You'll have to excuse me, but I have to admit that the "Avenue Q" puppet style scares me a little...lol. Why would we trade talented performers (musicians, singers, gymnasts, roller bladers, dancers) for puppeteers? Not that puppeteers aren't talented, please don't shoot me :) I just can't help notice the difference in the connection factor between a "human" cast and the audience, and a "puppet" cast and the audience.

Also, I have to ask the question: why replace a show based on a newer film with something based on an old film? My favorite attractions are based on films from when I was growing up. Would promoting The Jungle Book be a good way to capture new Disney goers who may not necessarily be Disney die-hards like ourselves?

Bummer that Tarzan Rocks is leaving, it's one of my favorite shows in all of WDW. The live band and rollerbladers are unique to that show, and what I enjoy the most about it and I'm physically no kid(35). :D

I will miss it, however I'm all for change every once in a while to keeps things fresh. I just hope if it's Jungle Book again it's a new show, the original JB show was hands down the worst show I've ever watched at all of WDW.

I knew it! lol i knew i wasnt that insane because when i went back in december of 2000 it wasnt there anymore. My aunt actually may have the JB on video from when we went. She is supposed to make a DVD copy for me of that vacation. If remember it was a really good show and I was actually a little bummed when they changed it to Tarzan Rocks. So I guess we will have to see what happens. Tarzan Rocks was always a very enjoyable show for me. My brother who was 15 when we went last year liked it a lot.

Lol...I looked at those pictures of the Jungle Book and the bad memories just came flooding back! The dreadlocked Baloo and Louie costumes! I remembered we saw it the first time we went after the park opened and swore we'd never go again! I'm sorry that just made me laugh!

Well hopefully they make changes to the Jungle Book show this time, as I assumed it wasn't popular enough during it's initial run, which caused it to be replaced.

Then again, this could only be a rumor that Jungle Book is coming back.

I kind of liked Tarzan Rocks, but not enough to cry over it leaving. Shows should be changed every few years to keep things fresh. A new indoor theater will be nice. That is an interesting rumor about Asia being extended. The theater will fit better in Asia. I feel sorry for the workers, but if I were them and didn't have a family then I would move to Hong Kong for a couple years. That would be a neat opportunity, but if you have a family that would be too hard of a move. Does Disney pay for their moving expenses and help find them affordable housing in HK? I heard it is really expensive to live there.

I saw the original JB show and didn't think that it was that bad . . . as I recall, there was "puppetry" like in the Lion King and I believe Kaa slinked around like the snake in Fantasmic? -details are a little fuzzy in my mind though- :p

We went to Tarzan twice, but do not make it a regular stop on visits. I think that it is interesting, but as has been said, I think that it's tough to live up to Phil Collin's music!

I thought Tarzan Rocks was a MUCH better show than the Jungle Book one they performed for a short time after the park opened. I thought that show was utterly horrible from what I remember. Hopefully if they do decide to make another JB show, its drastically different than the original one.

Probably the best news out of this is the possibility that they will enclose the theater and make it air conditioned. That is terrific news. Not only will it reduce the noise around Everest when a show is being performed, but it will provide another needed venue at AK to get out of the heat and cool down during the hot summer months. So much of AK is outside and the jungle environment they created really makes it hot over there and there are few attractions that let you to cool down. Enclosing the Lion King Theater was a good start. Though I'd imagine to enclose the Tarzan Rocks theater they might have a lot more work to do than they had with that one.

Heading for the great escape.
So Tarzan Sucks is leaving, i for one will not be shedding any tears. The skaters are fine, but the music :brick: :brick: :brick: Concert loud concert lighting, back street pub band, and worse they play Phil everysongsoundsthesame Collins music. Phil go back to Genesis pick up the sticks and forget writing 4th rate movie scores.

As for replacement, it would make an ideal pin cart location. Besides with a new attraction about to open best close an existing one, save employing any more of them pesky CMs

Enjoy the show. I like live entertainment. It's different with the roller bladers and I like the songs. Maybe not Phil Collins standards but pretty good.

My dancers! What will I do without my beautiful dancers!!! :(
Hopefully when my Tarzan Rocks edit is complete (have now done up to the end of "Trashing the Camp") it will help ease the pain. Assuming this rumour is true.
