Tangled the Stageshow to DHS??

What are you talking about?! Tangled made PATF look like crap in comparison. At least you get to see Rapunzel in human form during her whole movie. The music is also 100x better than PATF's music, screw Randy Newman! The box office and DVD Sale success of Tangled, plus its popularity obviously prove its superior.

Honestly though I love both movies but Tangled was 1,000,000x better.

I respect your opinion but I have to disagree. Personally my problems with Tangled lies in the story. First of all, a "witch" who never uses magic, just sings to a flower and uses a knife, as a villain I found to be pretty lame when compared to Dr. Facilier who actually uses magic and has ties to dark forces. Also, the villain's song I found to be WAY to peppy for a villain song when compared to something like Be Prepared, Poor Unfortunate Souls, Friend's on the Other Side, or Hellfire. Plus, the main characters I found much more depth with Tiana as far as *spoiler* loosing her father in the war and working to be something rather then Rapunzel who just wanted to go see some lanterns and seemed to be playing second fiddle to Flynn. With the music, I'm not the biggest Randy Newman fan myself but I thought he did a FAR better job with the music as far as adding different types of music while staying true to the jazz style. Alan Menken just seemed to be phoning it in with the exception of the bar song, which I did enjoy. Personally I think the only reason people say Tangled's music is better is because Alan Menken worked on other classic films so all his music is automatically amazing. Remember, Randy Newman did beat Alan Menken in the best song category last year. Also, as the box office goes, of course PatF didn't make any money. If you released a movie one week before the most anticipated movie of the year (Avatar) you wouldn't make a whole lot of money either. Tangled had to fortune to be released during Thanksgiving when there wasn't a whole lot out. I dare say if PatF was released at that time, like it should have been from the beginning it would have done better. Again, this is all just my own opinion:wave:

Considering that Disney recently opened a new stage adaptation of Aladdin in Seattle, they're likely preparing it for a Broadway release, as they do for most of their stage shows that don't open in New York. Considering the Broadway-style Aladdin musical at DCA would probably be pretty similar to what would open at New York (according to that article, it'd even be the same team of writers/composers), they might be wanting to replace it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Broadway musical was just a longer version of the DCA one.

Actually, Disney has stated that the new Aladdin in Seattle will not be a Broadway transfer and is mainly to test out the show before releasing the rights for smaller theaters to buy and perform. In additon, this new staging will actually be a different plot than the movie, somewhat, as its going back to the original story that Ashman/Menken wanted to tell, which will be "a loving homage to the Hope-Crosby road pictures with a score invoking the jazz sound of stars like Cab Calloway and Fats Waller."

At Least Mother Gothel has a back story, Dr. Facilier was a huge let down and his motives were lame, he just wanted money and power. Mother Gothel wanted eternal youth and beauty, not to mention during the whole movies she is fighting to stay alive. At least Mother Gothel stabbed somebody and Mother Knows Best is 1,000,000x better than Friends on the Other side because it is not your average villain song like FotO is... Randy Newman sucks I'm sorry but only 3 of the 7 songs in PATF are memorable while all of the 5 songs in Tangled are Amazing. PatF was supposed to be the comeback of Animated musicals and it failed I'm sorry but it did. Tangled did everything PatF was supposed to do and more. Another thing Tangled has actual action sequences unlike PATF, even Little Mermaid has action sequences.

My biggest complaint about PATF is the enitre Swamp section of the movie, it drags on for what seems like an eternity and not much happens for most of it, the best part of the movie is the first 15 minutes or so and then the rest is just blah. While Tangled is awesome from beginning to end.

I disagree. Your comparing apples to oranges. One is animated with a story line geared for children the other is geared toward teens and adults.

Avatar and PatF had two totally different demographics.

Mother Knows Best is hardly peppy when you listen to the lyrics, she's mentally abusing the girl.

Rapunzel had no knowledge of the world outside her tower, were you expecting her to break free and go wait tables?

At least Mother Gothel stabbed somebody

Yes, but Dr. Facilier *again spoiler* actually killed one the main characters, which I found more bold for a film. I was sitting there thinking they were going to pull the "we're alright!!" move like they did in Tangled, but it never came.

Mother Knows Best is hardly peppy when you listen to the lyrics, she's mentally abusing the girl.

See I didn't get that type of vibe. I mean even from the beginning Mother Gothel has this "it's all about me" feel to her with all the remarks she makes to Rapunzel. I'm not saying she's Kuzco or anything but she she was just too in the moment about herself and I felt the song came off the same way.

I disagree. Your comparing apples to oranges. One is animated with a story line geared for children the other is geared toward teens and adults.

What I mean when I talk about Avatar is that it was a PG13 movie so parents could bring their kids to the theater to see the movie and they did. With all the records it broke at the box office it only goes to show that all the other films that came out around that time didn't do as well because Avatar was still racking them in and that is why, I believe PatF suffered at the box office, unlike Tangled which came out with no real competition.

I guess what I'm saying in the end is that I don't knock someone for liking Tangled, there are far worse movies out there but to me Tangled is an above average version of Shrek where they have to put in those types of jokes and add those contemporary moments to it where as PatF was trying to stay true to the original Disney movies we all love today.

Tangled is nothing like Shrek now going back to watching Disney channel kid.

The only thing Tangled has in common with Shrek is CGI.

I have to wonder if people complained about "contemporary moments" in Lion King or Aladdin?

Hey, hey there's no reason to insult me like that, I was just stating my own opinion if you don't like it that's fine. I respect your opinion as much as you should mine. And for the record I find all programing on Disney Channel, except for one to be extremely lackluster and if it wasn't for Phineas and Ferb I would probably never change to that channel.

No, because Phineas and Ferb is a terrible a show and is the plague of the world and this needs to be accepted.

Ok look, I'm just going to walk away now. Please, take whatever you like about my OPINION but I never said anything remotely close to Tangled being the worse film of all time, I'm just stating my own problems with the movie. Thank you all have have a pleasant tomorrow:)

favorite part of BatB show: Beast's dinky little arms. those things are the antithesis of menacing.

i dont really care what film they choose, as long as the show is fresh, new, and innovative.

Black Cauldron: The Musical anyone?

No, because Phineas and Ferb is a terrible a show and is the plague of the world and this needs to be accepted.

Is that a joke?

And even if they are younger, shouldn't the younger opinion matter most because believe it or not both of these films were geared towards children.

As for me, I think it's a tie. Princess and the Frog is visually stunning and it's characters have a lot more depth to them. Tangled is also visually stunning, but has better music.

Princess and the Frog would be better (for me)

I know I'm in the minority here, but I would prefer to see BatB replaced with a Princess & the Frog show. I LOVED the music in that movie and to me, it's gotten a bad rap.

However, I also have to qualify my preference with PatF versus Tangled in that I've never seen Tangled so I am not familiar with the music or the movie.

Either way, however -- and as much as I enjoy BatB -- it is time for it to be replaced with something fresher.

And Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast were when their respective stage shows premiered? Bad logic.

Not to mention WDW has had shows for Tarzan, Hunchback, Nemo...

Exactley! And Tangled has proven to be very successful at the box office... just like TLM and BatB were... maybe even more so out of the gate. Will it stand the test of time like our early 90's classics... yet to be seen.

But this stage show makes perfect sense & I'm betting we'll have a confirmation of this replacing a show this weekend at D23!

A Tangled show would be amazing. I think Phineas and Ferb are fine and dandy with their meet and greet. They have a dj playing music from the show and its just a fun time. I love that they are giving the boys some attention. Beauty and the Beast is getting enough from the expansion, lets give Rapunzel and Flynn some TLC. The story is amazing and the music is up there with any of the other Disney films.

No its not a joke, I only put up with it because my Boyfriend adores it.

I think PATF is a cute film but Tangled stomped it into the dust.

I think the addition of a Tangled themed stage show would be great. Although I would rather see it replace VOTLM instead of BATB. Mainly because they could do so much more inside of that theater than they could with the BATB one. For example, it would be dark enough to use the lanterns like in the film and there is plenty of space for good backgrounds and sets. I just think the possibilities are endless in there. Now at BATB, I think it could still put on a good show there, but I just like the idea of it replacing Mermaid instead, especially since she is now getting her own ride in the Magic Kingdom, which I love since she is my favorite princess(Belle comes next, child of the 90's here, lol). Anyway, PATF would be a great show too, but I don't think they would do that, but I'm not going to object if they do. Just my two cents, take it as you will. :)
