Maybe we'll see if there's any truth to this at the D23 expo.

What are you talking about?! Tangled made PATF look like crap in comparison. At least you get to see Rapunzel in human form during her whole movie. The music is also 100x better than PATF's music, screw Randy Newman! The box office and DVD Sale success of Tangled, plus its popularity obviously prove its superior.
Honestly though I love both movies but Tangled was 1,000,000x better.
Considering that Disney recently opened a new stage adaptation of Aladdin in Seattle, they're likely preparing it for a Broadway release, as they do for most of their stage shows that don't open in New York. Considering the Broadway-style Aladdin musical at DCA would probably be pretty similar to what would open at New York (according to that article, it'd even be the same team of writers/composers), they might be wanting to replace it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Broadway musical was just a longer version of the DCA one.
I respect your opinion but I have to disagree. Personally my problems with Tangled lies in the story. First of all, a "witch" who never uses magic, just sings to a flower and uses a knife, as a villain I found to be pretty lame when compared to Dr. Facilier who actually uses magic and has ties to dark forces. Also, the villain's song I found to be WAY to peppy for a villain song when compared to something like Be Prepared, Poor Unfortunate Souls, Friend's on the Other Side, or Hellfire. Plus, the main characters I found much more depth with Tiana as far as *spoiler* loosing her father in the war and working to be something rather then Rapunzel who just wanted to go see some lanterns and seemed to be playing second fiddle to Flynn. With the music, I'm not the biggest Randy Newman fan myself but I thought he did a FAR better job with the music as far as adding different types of music while staying true to the jazz style. Alan Menken just seemed to be phoning it in with the exception of the bar song, which I did enjoy. Personally I think the only reason people say Tangled's music is better is because Alan Menken worked on other classic films so all his music is automatically amazing. Remember, Randy Newman did beat Alan Menken in the best song category last year. Also, as the box office goes, of course PatF didn't make any money. If you released a movie one week before the most anticipated movie of the year (Avatar) you wouldn't make a whole lot of money either. Tangled had to fortune to be released during Thanksgiving when there wasn't a whole lot out. I dare say if PatF was released at that time, like it should have been from the beginning it would have done better. Again, this is all just my own opinion:wave:

At least Mother Gothel stabbed somebody
Mother Knows Best is hardly peppy when you listen to the lyrics, she's mentally abusing the girl.
I disagree. Your comparing apples to oranges. One is animated with a story line geared for children the other is geared toward teens and adults.
Avatar and PatF had two totally different demographics.
Yes, but Dr. Facilier *again spoiler* actually killed one the main characters, which I found more bold for a film. I was sitting there thinking they were going to pull the "we're alright!!" move like they did in Tangled, but it never came.
See I didn't get that type of vibe. I mean even from the beginning Mother Gothel has this "it's all about me" feel to her with all the remarks she makes to Rapunzel. I'm not saying she's Kuzco or anything but she she was just too in the moment about herself and I felt the song came off the same way.
What I mean when I talk about Avatar is that it was a PG13 movie so parents could bring their kids to the theater to see the movie and they did. With all the records it broke at the box office it only goes to show that all the other films that came out around that time didn't do as well because Avatar was still racking them in and that is why, I believe PatF suffered at the box office, unlike Tangled which came out with no real competition.
I guess what I'm saying in the end is that I don't knock someone for liking Tangled, there are far worse movies out there but to me Tangled is an above average version of Shrek where they have to put in those types of jokes and add those contemporary moments to it where as PatF was trying to stay true to the original Disney movies we all love today.
Tangled is nothing like Shrek now going back to watching Disney channel kid.
No, because Phineas and Ferb is a terrible a show and is the plague of the world and this needs to be accepted.
Black Cauldron: The Musical anyone?
No, because Phineas and Ferb is a terrible a show and is the plague of the world and this needs to be accepted.
And Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast were when their respective stage shows premiered? Bad logic.
Not to mention WDW has had shows for Tarzan, Hunchback, Nemo...
Is that a joke?
And even if they are younger, shouldn't the younger opinion matter most because believe it or not both of these films were geared towards children.
As for me, I think it's a tie. Princess and the Frog is visually stunning and it's characters have a lot more depth to them. Tangled is also visually stunning, but has better music.
