Tangled the Stageshow to DHS??

Isn't the capacity for Voyage significantly less than TotS? Or at least that's how I remember it. That would be a major minus for replacing it with Tangled. I LOVE this idea though! Both shows have had a good LONG run

Let me say upfront that I really enjoyed Tangled. It's a very entertaining movie with great humor and engaging characters, but the music didn't have the magic for me. It just wasn't as memorable or on the same level as the music from BatB, Mermaid and Aladdin. This is just my own personal opinion of course, but having said that, I do agree that BatB and VotLM have had long runs and either would probably be due for a replacement. Not sure I think it would be a worthy replacement for Aladdin at the Hyperion though.

I agree with everyone who thinks this could be a positive change for DHS. While I'm not sure if it needs another show, what about the old Hunchback Theater (I believe it is now called the Premier Theater). It's mostly used for special events, so it likely won't happen, but it would be nice to take advantage of an indoor space that isn't being used all that often.

Although the Hyperion and TotS are quite different, I don't think that would stop Disney from making it work on both coasts. As others have said, the movie already has a great soundtrack so already there is less work to do than compared to Nemo. It's a fairly obvious replacement that would be a huge draw. Now just bring back Four for a Dollar (Return 2 Zero) and I'll be happy!

I can't see this happening. Tangled hasn't proven it's a classic yet.

Did you ever try to meet Repunzal and Flynn (when Flynn was still greeting) at the MK? The popularity for that M&G alone proves people will flock to it!

That is what gives me the most hope for this rumor. I love the music from Tangled and it totally lends it self to some amazing musical routines.

I loved the music as well!

Tangled will also see an additional boost in popularity when Rapunzel joins the royal court and becomes an "official" Princess this fall. She'll soon start to be featured on all of the princess merchandise.

I second (or third) the notion that Voyage of the Little Mermaid's theater isn't nearly as large, and would take a lot of work to redo, while Theater of the Stars could be enclosed (or demolished and start from scratch) and turn this into an acceptable place to hold a show of that size. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a sizable plot of land right behind TotS? Surely, something on the order of Theater in the Wild/Hyperion could fit right there.

Yes, it easily could.

I saw this rumor tweeted out by Walt Disney World News Today. They have been a very reliable source in the past.

How so? I know some of the people from __________, and while they're great guys who make a great podcast, I don't believe they have real sources of their own. All the news they post seems culled from other sites.

Tangled was a fantastic film and definitely needs to come to DHS. If I had to choose, I'd rather it replace VotLM(which actually would make more sense IMO b/c it's indoor like Hyperion Theater, and TLM ride coming to FL will tell the same story, so it could seem monotonous). But if Tangled came to Sunset Blvd. that would be awesome too!

That seems to have a better chance, but the space is still much smaller than the Hyperion. It would have to be completely gutted to even begin to work.

The most likely idea posted above is DLR using the Fantasyland Theater, since it hosted their version of BatB way back when.

This is an excellent point! I think a more comparable theater at DLR would be the Fantasyland Theater stage, which is outdoors, not sure of the tech stuff but Fantasyland Theater has a lot going for it tech wise(at least it seems) not that DLR currently uses it to its full capability... Princess Fantasy Faire:hurl::lol:
That's right. If I remember correctly there's been rumors that a show will make its way back in there soon. I could totally see Tangled happening there and at DHS in place of BatB.

If something like this were to happen, whats wrong with placing it in the Backlot Theater? That is already enclosed, and I don't think having the sets there would seriously interfere with its other uses. It may mean some off days being scheduled when SWW are held and the like, but thats not a serious disruption.

I wouldn't mind a Tangled show. Beauty and the Beast is getting a little dated.
Personally though, I would replace the Little Mermaid show before I replaced Beauty and the Beast.

I understand where you're coming from, but shows and all live entertainment really are never meant to last forever. All shows and parades need to be updated and/or replaced regularly, or it stagnates. BatB has had its (long long long) run, time for something new.

However, I'm skeptical of this rumor. What doesn't make sense is that if they were producing the show for both coasts, I would think they would want to make fairly identical productions, to save on restaging costs, etc. It's just how Disney tends to work. The thing is that the Hyperion and the Theater of the Stars are not comparable venues at all. They're not even from the same era of stage tech. I don't believe TotS has any lifts/traps, it's scenic abilities are minimal at best, I think it has very little fly space, and it most certainly doesn't have the spectacular flying rig used for A Whole New World (not that I can see what it'd be used for in Tangled). If they designed the show for the specifications of TotS, I think it would look very lackluster on the Hyperion stage.

I'm surprised that it took 27 posts for this point to be brought up. The venues and shows are completely different callibers. No way one production would replace both Aladdin and BatB. Not even TLM theater comes close to the calliber of Hyperion Theater. Hyperion is HUGE! Even larger than Theater in the Wild I believe with a balcony level and all.

As this is just a rumor at this point, we all have no idea what will come of this. But say it was announced at the Expo, (if not the Expo, by the end of the year) how long would construction/production/etc. take place? Would we see the show by the end of 2012? Or after, in 2013?

The very vague rumour is that it will arrive next year! But as said, take everything with a large grain of salt!!

Knowing TDO they wont change much about the theatre itself!
