just saw this article on *****... http://*****.com/blog/2016/04/conce...-land-scenes-removed-from-slinky-dog-coaster/

this writer seems to have confirmation that SWL is indeed going in the LMA/backlot tour area. Towards the end of the article, they show a zoomed in picture of the brown trees hinting at SWL, and say "Just beyond the borders of Toy Story Land is the heavily wooded new planet of Star Wars land. A tunnel will transport guests between the two realms." Can anyone else confirm this?
Wait i now see the link and name **** out, did i do something wrong? Lol just thought id share

This has been discussed in numerous threads here over the past few days. Some believe it's a slam dunk for SWL going in the LMA area, other believe it's just that artistic taking some artistic license when creating artwork for TSL.

I took the liberty of comparing the concept artwork for the 2 lands. I know the controversy of concept versus end-result, but there always (in my opinion, ref. my Feb 10 post in Avatar construction progress) seem to be quite a lot "in there" (as discussed somewhere earlier in one of the many DHS-treads).
Sooo, I'm not trying to prove anything, just trying to look into the evidence at hand. Here are the right-hand end of SWL's concept and the left-hand side of the newest TSL's concept art:

Any resemblance in there or something different (in the TSL side)?
OBE

To me, that art looks more like the current Star Tours then the new land.

i just dont think the artist would randomly put that on concept art, unless Disney is trying the ol Pearl Harbor job and trying to fool us:)

Looks like you are leaving TSL and entering SWL via a tunnel.

A theory I have is that the toy story concept art has the sun shining, while the SWL concept art has a dark grey sky. Could the sun change the look of those rock forms/ tree forms we're getting in SWL? Like maybe they look browner when the sun is shining really brightly on them, but gloomier and greyer when the sun isn't shining. Just a thought, could be way off

The sun shining in one land while it is cloudy in another would justify WDI prices.

Based on what I've seen, I think that is indeed SWL in the LMA area. I also think the tunnel to the new land you are seeing in the TSL imagery is probably in the vicinity of the detention pond or wetland that currently exists back in that vicinity possibly at its northern end where Stage Drive is. Star Tours will either sit outside of SWL (as it will in DL) or it will be reconstructed in SWL with its current site being demo'd or refurbished for something else once SWL opens.

To me, utilizing backlot, LMA, SOA area for staging to construct a project in the vicinity of Indiana Jones just doesn't make sense. 1) They don't need that much space for staging. Avatarland's staging area is roughly the size of SOA. 2) Construction access from this back corner of the property over to Indiana Jones would also seem to be inconvenient and inefficient. 3) Shutting down Indiana Jones, the Echo Lake Area and Backlot Express would seem inadvisable considering the amount of land already being closed off. Doing so may have been more than the bean-counters or PR people thought the park could handle given its already tenuous reputation has a half-day park.

My guess is that Indiana Jones will be the eventual Phase 3 location of whatever theme they have decided that they want to add.

Reconstructing Star Tours also gives them the ability to reset the timeline if they want to. For the insiders: would Star Tours be allowed to exist outside of the main land, or would they rebuild it to be in the "proper" location in the event that LMA has become the area for the new land?

StarTours is not moving. That would be a 100 Million dollar waste of money. That said I could see them retheming the exterior of the building and expanding the gift shop.

That said, I'm surprised that there hasn't been more movement on the parking situation yet.
Me too. I thought we would by now. I'll be gobsmacked if nothing's started by end of summer or year end.

There again it was always planned to be ready for SWL opening.

Why would relocating be off the table? Is Disneyland going to have Star Wars land and keep Star Tours in Tomorrowland? I bet it will be shut down or removed.

My money is on Star Tours being relocated or removed.

My bet is that Disneyland will get rid of their Star Tours and replace it will the HK Iron Man ride that uses the same tech as ST:TAC. But their are strong saying that Marvel will take over the land around tot in dca so who knows :cautious:

If that was the case why would the artist be so specific about having you go into an underground tunnel as Mice Chat mentioned? Artistic license would make it seem much more generic. I've never seen other recent concept art where they add mystery lands just out of view. The actual original concept art just had it fade into a blur. Why wouldn't you just stick with that? I think this was a clip from a larger piece of DHS overall concept art and someone ended up leaving that bit of it on. And no I don't think Disney would do that as a red herring to fool a hundred people on a message board who would actually care about this detail. And lastly, why does it even matter? If they put it in LMA / SOA area and find a way to connect it to Star Tours properly then that is all that matters. People are concerned because they think that we are now losing Phase 3. But if Disney announced that Monstropolis was going where Indy is, all of this talk would dissipate.

I agree with you except on "People are concerned ...". All this talk is about the exciting new lands being developed. Since so little is known, the first thing to talk about is where everything will be located. As construction begins, we will all be discussing the progress (see the Avatar threads). As far as "concerned", that drives a lot (or maybe even most) of comments in every thread on this board, and will continue unless human nature changes.

Consider the possibility that Disney is advertising the future SWL? Doesn't mean that it will actually be built next to TSL. Just another way of reminding people that SWL is coming.
