Star Tours 2: Official confirmation - kinda

So nobody wants to claim the "TDO won't pay for the DL version" spin?

JT, that was partly true ... albeit for only a brief time when there was massive panic over the economy.

But if you're suggesting it was a deliberate lie on Al Lutz's part, you're off. And I don't like his WDW-bashing myself. But his story was based on fact.
It just was a possibility that he ran with ... and considering TDO's record you really can't (or I can't) fault the dude.

Hence why I've retreated back to being mostly a lurker. WDW went from having nothing on the table to being full of exciting new prospects; and the online community shifted from rightly criticizing the poor management to complaining about the new developments. That's when I decided to stop keeping up with the fans as much as I did.

So what changed that management was "rightly" critisized and the new news that WDW is now getting new developments? :veryconfu

Hmmm, could it be the normal business cycle that has always existed at WDW or is it the sheriff? :D

Thanks Tirian and I agree with WDW74 , you should post more.

That is what I have always said. That it was totally exagerated and not that it was completely untrue. But as usual, anything that paints TDO in a negative light gets out of control quickly.

I really get "bad press" around here.

I think their rushing to construct all these projects because of Harry Potter at IOA.

No, they have known about that for years. Disney even worked on some of the concepts. Nice try, but HP is only a small part of the answer to the conundrum. :lookaroun

So what changed? The pendulum (business cycle) or the sheriff?

We knew about WWoHP at the end of 2007... they've known about it for only 2 years! What are you talking about?

I am not sure why I am debating a 10 year old but here goes. People were saying just months ago that Disney was not responding to Potterland. Now they supposedly are suddenly out of the blue even though the project was announced long ago. What changed? That is the question at hand.

And Disney most likely knew about Rowling going to Uni long before the public. They were certainly working with her before 2007.

10 years old? Really? Coming from you... :ROFLOL:  :ROFLOL::lol:

They'd be stupid to roll over. Even Disney would drop the bucks to compete, and they have a record of directl competing with other Orlando parks.

I think Disney is smart not to rush into countering Potterland. They are going to sit back and see how good it actually is. When it opens the Hogwarts and the dark ride won't enev be finished. Until they are HP is as much of a threat as the Jimmy Newtron ride.

How many bays does each Star Tours location have? Any chance that they could add more bays with the old Body Wars simulators to increase capacity?

Hah! I recall a certain spirit telling me i should stay here and fight the great unwashed masses of uninformed fanbois ... so I'm telling you to quit lurking and start writing!

Although I admit I'm going Internet (at least Disney fan site) free when I travel to Paris and then Los Angeles/Glendale/Anaheim next month. I know I'll be missing so much fun ... and I can't wait!:king::drevil::cool:

It's definitely not a normal business cycle.

I'm not saying I'll never become a frequent poster again, it's just that I'm taking a break right now. Truly good things are happening at WDW, and I don't have the time or patience to deal with people who insist on remaining negative because they don't like the paint color, or the lighting, or something like that.

All fan boards, not just Disney ones, deal in extremes. We first had people mindlessly defending poor management decisions, and now we have other people who are bashing the good decisions. Balance is hard to find. I'm merely bored with the fanboy drivel. :D

The ST building is maxed out and cannot fit any additional bays, but here's an interesting bit of info: you may notice the projection systems have already been improved in several of the ST simulators.

Every source ive read so far said its confirmed for both MGM and DL.
I'm hoping so.

Ever heard of not counting your chickens before they hatch?

I trust my source, but I never believe anything until I actually experience the new attractions. You would be wise to do the same.
Or at least walls go up.
Once again I can confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that Tokyo, Anaheim, Paris and Orlando will all be getting the new Star Tours and it will be more than just a new film.

Very good.:D

Well if you are lumping me in the, "mindlessly defending poor management decisions" camp then I protest. I was very consistant over the last 18 months saying that WDW's days were coming and just advising a bit of patience because I have seen all this before. At least twice in WDW's history. Your post has an aire of "extreme" to it. But I do understand taking a break from the boards. I plan to do the same shortly after the D23 Expo.

I will then only jump in with each new developments progress. But it's been a fun ride dueling with the D&G folks............sometimes. :lookaroun

So I guess I don't agree with WDW74 afterall.
