SPOILERS: The Mandalorian Season 2 Discussion

R2 and Grogu clearly knew each other back when. R2 seems overjoyed to see the little guy.
Someone on Twitter suggested that R2 is who spirited Grogu away from the Jedi Temple. I don’t remember exactly how things played out but this person said R2 was with Anakin at the Temple? Although I always liked the theory that it’s always been R2-D2’s story, not the Skywalker saga, lol.

Me too. I shouted it out. Then the green confirmed it. Then the glove and the framing. Wasn’t sure which method they would use to pull it off though. But glad Mark gets a happy and satisfying Star Wars ending after all. Will be interesting to see what he says on Twitter once most people have caught up.

A buddy of mine said (heresay) he heard that hamill did it unpaid...

Now if that were true...it’s not hard to guess why?

R2 is be Constant in the story...by design.

And they kinda did him dirty too if we’re honest

I think we KNOW what he’ll say...

So far he seems pretty unaware. Currently looking for some guidance on what he should watch next 😉😅

Yep...that’s about right...

DH is shocked we made it this late in the day without seeing the spoiler. I avoided the “What’s Trending” on Twitter all day. DH said he did too but still thought someone in his world would have hinted or spoiled or something. I think it shows how protectful of SW people are. People should see this episode unspoiled.

I will miss Grogu though. I doubt we’ll see much of him to start season 3 as they tell other parts of the Mandalorian’s story. And I was surprised none of the “heroes” died.
Disney ordered that none of them can be killed...

...everyone of them is getting their own show 😂

I didn't love the CGI/de-aged Luke. I feel like it was better in the Marvel movies for example. Bigger budgets I guess. That's fine though, it was the best way to include Luke so can't really complain. Might be one of those things that look better after you see it a few times and get used to it.

Nice connection to Vader in Rogue One.

Bib Fortuna the Hutt was pretty funny.

I know Stormtroopers are expendable characters but the lopsided battles where the good guys never take a hit are getting a bit old.

I hate Boba Fett's turtleneck. There, I said it.

It still feels crazy we can get Star Wars on television with production values that don't feel far removed from the movies.

Also, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays.

I don’t get the praise for the CGI. It’s awful on Luke.

I think the reality is we have to make some
Concessions to try to get the pathos back on course.

Would I rather they figure out a way to have others stand on their own? Yes...probably...but into the setting of the show...this made the most sense.
Yeah I'm out. Deep fake Luke Skywalker? I'm surprised the Internet hasn't turned on this show yet.

Turned on it why? It gave what billions (with a B) of fans have begged for...for almost 40 years.

One of the flaws that both Lucas and Disney committed - good intentions aside - is they took the path of most resistance filled with land mines.

Maybe pop culture can be that and at the same time not be restricted to children?

Marvel. It’s that easy to find the “zone” to aim for...

So what’s the consensus on Luke and Grogu? How will we see their story continue or will we even see it continue? I feel we don’t need to see more in this show. Luke served his story purpose here as the obvious Jedi of this time period to answer the call. Maybe he can meet Ahsoka?

There is a Tale in Tales from Jabba's Palace that reveals that Bib survived. Now, those were supposed to be canon-wiped. But like the beskar sword survived the destruction of the Razor Crest, bits live on. Same book that told a story how Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc. I so totally have wanted to see a Magic Eight Ball in a corner next to a Weequay, btw.

I bet there will be time jump and season 3 will be years in the future where Mando and a teenage or adult Grogu meet up again.
There's still the conflict set up in this episode between Mando and Bo Katan over the dark saber which I doubt they'll just skip over with a flash forward.

If Grogu appears next season I can only see it as something saved for the finale.

The lone x-wing was a dead give away for me.

As far as the mistakes of the DT...Disney pooched it. They have all but admitted it. When the new head of LFL is installed next year...Vader’s fall will be complete.
Yes, that was when I said here comes Luke! My daughter said no way, it won't be him. But when I saw the green, I was like, here we go!

I don't get this at all. Why would anyone turn on a moment they have been waiting to see for over 30yrs? It wasn't perfect for sure. But it also isn't a 250 million blockbuster film. So for the medium it came from, I was actually blown away at how good it was. Personally I hope we see more deep fake Luke. It makes perfect sense for the story.

Yep, me too. I think Season 3 will be heavy into Mandalore. Past and Present. So they can cover the Purge, Din's upbringing, Moff Gideon's acquisition of the Dark Saber while working toward a new Mandalore, dealing with the current status of the Dark Saber, etc.

The audience knows Grogu is safe in school, so everyone can lean into "The Mandalorian," and not just "The Baby Yoda Show." Cooing over Grogu may be what we needed in 2020, but now we can move deeper into the next chapter
