SPOILERS: The Mandalorian Season 2 Discussion

Honestly, I was more excited about Boba in the post-credits than the 'big' reveal. I thought it killed a lot of momentum in the show.

After that, nowhere really to continue the plot with Din. I think his arc is complete now. I believe season 3 will really just be Boba and I'm okay with that.

The show was out of runaway with the yoda. I’m sure they “keep him involved” somehow...but it couldn’t be a nonstop chase of the two. Whether they wanted it or not...it had hijacked the mandalorian concept of the mandalorian...it was an amazing success (check a store)...but it went were it had to go.

Anyone else notice the scene where the lightsaber had no FX on it? I'll try and find screenshots.
Just Luke's stunt actor throwing around a toy from Dok Ondar's View attachment 519494

EDIT: Timestamp 32:02 in Episode 8. No special effects on the saber 😂

Damn...that ruins the whole thing.

They clearly set up a new arc regarding Mandalorians and Mandalore and re-taking that planet with the Dark Sabre. And obviously some sort of argument between Bo Katan and Din Djarin regarding his role among the Mandalorian people. They've been building to a story about "what does it mean to be a Mandalorian?" for a while now.

I'll miss Grogu, but I am actually excited to see what Djarin does next as his character evolves.

They had to exit him in a way that worked/satisfied. It was a multipurpose way to do it.

Apparently they digitally de-aged Mark Hamill. That was...wow...
Too busy watching the farce awakens on dvd to catch R:1? 🤔

(That’s cheap...but I had to)

I thought at first that they had hired another actor who was really, really close to Mark Hamill to play Luke, but no, apparently that was him, according to IMDB.

I've seen R1 units at Galaxy's Edge but not on the Mandalorian. In case you were referring to R2D2, yes obviously he was there, but I was not expecting to see Like. I could have more easily predicted seeing droids who don't age or, in the case of R2, don't need a specific-looking actor to portray them.

He voiced it...they used the facial software used twice in rogue 1 for the face on a standin.

It’s better...still not perfect yet though.

Okay, now that I can breathe again between sobbing, screaming and cheering - here were my reactions in the moment:

In the face! I yield. I yield. I ♥️ Cara Dune.

OMG the Tie fighter launch! So cool!

Girl squad. Take a memo, rest of the current Star Wars universe - THAT is GRRL power. (Even if it's totally the GRRL power Endgame bit redux. lol Steal from the best, baby.)

What the hell. It's a squadron of Terminators. Jon Favreau, I love you, man.

Mando, the Terminators are coming - at least pull out your Darksaber rather than a blaster! Cuts through anything not beskar, remember???

Mando throwing himself bodily in front of the child. #fatherhood #beautiful

In tears now, flowing down my face, literally begging my TV to let this be Luke.
Single saber, not double.
Green.
The hand!
OMG, welcome home, my hero!!!

R2!!!!

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Blubbering sobbing ugly crying stupid mess

OMG tag scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Literally standing up cheering, applauding and bowing to my television set!

THAT IS HOW YOU STAR WARS.

A pure master class and gift of love from fans to fans.

That was everything. Everything.

Bless Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni for giving this show to us.

(EDITED to remove spoiler tags now that we are past 24 hours)

And a few afterthoughts:

I love you, Pedro. What you have done with this role is truly skilled, powerful and inspiring...

The framing of *those* shots were so perfect. I don't care that it was all no doubt laid out exactly like this in the concept art. Props to Peyton Reed for pulling it all off!

Really a fantastic ending, much more than I expected. I do wonder what they do for an encore in upcoming seasons though.
I was surprised at how nearly they managed to tie it off...didn’t think that was possible.

The self proclaimed art critics will scoff (one already did here...)...but it made sense and wise too confusing/dead end not too “dumbed down”.

A good medium.

I took a screen cap of what I think does a good job of describing where the show is :

I hope you didn't mistake my pointing out of an unfinished FX shot as a critique of the episode. It was like an easter egg for me -- like Grand Moff Jeans guy in the episode or two back. I think this show has been fantastic -- I just wish instead of using the OT it could expand into characters from Rebels/Clone Wars/Fallen Order, etc. Luke is fun; but I feel it would really add more depth if someone like Ezra Bridger or Cal Kestis could've been introduced to live action! Again, I'm not saying this is some horrible, show breaking thing. With a new season coming up, it'll be interesting to see the progression from there!

I was kidding.

They Couldn’t introduce another character due to time constraints...this was the way.

And it also only makes sense based on the timeframe of the show.

It makes sense for so many reasons. The baby shouldn’t be entrusted to anyone else...being the big one.

But let’s look under the hood here:
The two biggest fails of the Disney trilogy (there are many) have to be no big 3 reunion AND no Luke kick butt/fist pump scene.

This corrected the one in many ways that could be corrected.

I think Ezra will make an appearance, maybe in the Asokha series along with Thrawn and possibly Sabine. I also suspect Hondo Onaka will turn up at some point in a show and depending on what Temura Morrison is up to we might see Rex or Cody turn up somewhere. Id love to see Cad Bane as he is my favourite character in the clone wars but that’s probably a step too far.

Im not a gamer so I don’t know about Cal Kestis but it would be interesting to find out more.

The other question now i guess is will Luke make an appearance in rogue squadron? Only three years before we find out 😀✌️
