Problem with that is that is also a shrinking market.

There is a reason why Disney is been releasing a bunch of SW cartoons over the last few years, like Young Jedi Adventures. Unless you really think they made that specifically for 30+ yr old males....
The ironic thing is I think it's the SW shows intended for the adult audience that are the ones struggling. The cartoons have been fairly well received, it's the live action shows like Obi Wan, Bobba Fett, the Acolyte, etc that are struggling to find an audience.

I'm an old guy and I prefer the cartoons to anything they've made recently (Mandalorian being the lone exception). I've watched every episode of the Clone wars, the Freemaker adventures, SW Rebels, SW Resistance, the bad batch, the Tales of the Jedi, etc... I have no idea what audience the new live action shows are meant to appeal to though, they are changing them too much to appeal to the OG audience but they aren't really connecting with kids either... it feels like they're just throwing everything at the wall hoping something will stick with someone.

My point was that you don't just make content for the 30+ yr old male market only as that poster was saying. How they want to capture the younger generations is the part that can be debated, I think the Young Jedi Adventures series is pretty good, but you don't just stop making content for every other market.
That's the question. I'm of the mindset that the formula wasn't broken. Star wars was very universal. It didn't matter, male, female, young, old and everything in between. It does skew more male, but that never stopped women from enjoying it. The key is quality storytelling and focusing on the key components of star wars. The look and feel, the themes... You can broaden the base without, I guess you could say, going after that base. It's a very fine line that I think Favreau navigated great in the first two seasons of Mando.

There’s some twatter blips out there that kath is sticking around…

Let’s all pray and rejoice 😂
I'll believe it when its actually reported in the main stream and not on some Twitter post. As we inch closer to the end of the year it'll come out if its true, or nothing will happen and she'll retire as expected.

There is only one rumor I've seen, and its from that doofus that calls himself a "Pro", is that she wants to retire (change from his previous claims that she was getting fired for the last 6 years) and that the only reason she'd stay on a short term basis beyond her contract is to go out with a win.

KK could retire 10 years from now and people will be screaming "I told you so!".

I was off these boards for a few years, but one thing I remember from before was that guy saying the Kennedy was about to be fired 😂

Opinions are not facts…. All films and TV series are subjective…. Just cause someone get’s enjoyment from media that you don’t does not make them wrong
Failing Star Wars is a fact with Dire economic consequences for the Walt Disney company

Bobby and kath have lost billions of potential and very much needed revenue on that property…

Anything else, Professor?

Any day now.....
Those were the dweebs that did sci-fi channels/vlogs…if you’ll recall?

Pro ran with that (in error)

Nobody would have been surprised if KK was fired as far back as 2018…but it never really computed as “probable”

Same as when chapek “took over”…except we know now he never did

This is why I always ask “who’s the intended new audience?” when they put out new Marvel shows, new Star Wars shows, new Disney shows, etc that don’t follow the established formulas that have historically made them the most beloved brands in their genres.

These are brands that already appeal to everyone, the idea they need to change the formula (that made them the most successful brands ever) to appeal to a “new audience” is ludicrous.

Except the people here who wanted Kennedy out believed Pro and parroted that fake rumor over and over in thread after thread as if it were true and about to happen, for the last 6 years. Its why several of us keep bringing it up every time discussions about Kennedy's contract comes up. She'll leave when she is ready to, and until otherwise announced that appears to be at the end of the year.

And I would have been surprised if she was fired in 2018, but lets not rehash the last 6 years over again.

I don’t think she’s going to be given the option this time, in 2018 Lucasfilm had stumbled a bit but her extensive track record was still in her favor, in 2021 when she was up for extension again I think she was saved solely by the Mandalorian… I don’t think she has anything to save her this time to justify an extension, it’s been years since they’ve had a successful SW movie or SW D+ show… I’ll be absolutely shocked if she isn’t gone at the end of this contract, whether by her choice or Disneys doesn’t really matter, Star Wars needs a new vision though, hers clearly isn’t connecting with the audience.

I know many will disagree but she has enough cachet to get another contract extension if she wanted it. The question is does she want to remain or does she just want to retire, I guess we'll see at the end of the year but all previous reports were she was planning on retiring.

My opinion is she'll retire and Filoni will become the next head of Lucas officially.

When does this economic downturn begin… so far this year Disney is the top grossing film studio… Their parks have seen more attendance this year over the previous year,…. Their cruises are selling like gang busters….and they have perhaps the top streaming service that is not Netflix… I am no duster…. But it sure does not look like a failing business to me

But none of that matters as I have seen you continuously state your opinion on consumed media as fact…. When it is all opinions…. No mater how people feel about a specific media… pro or con

So who are you arguing with here?

People wanted her fired…she probably deserved it - the results have been poor - but it was never likely to happen
