Failing Star Wars is a fact with Dire economic consequences for the Walt Disney company

Bobby and kath have lost billions of potential and very much needed revenue on that property…

Anything else, Professor?
When does this economic downturn begin… so far this year Disney is the top grossing film studio… Their parks have seen more attendance this year over the previous year,…. Their cruises are selling like gang busters….and they have perhaps the top streaming service that is not Netflix… I am no duster…. But it sure does not look like a failing business to me

But none of that matters as I have seen you continuously state your opinion on consumed media as fact…. When it is all opinions…. No mater how people feel about a specific media… pro or con

Except the people here who wanted Kennedy out believed Pro and parroted that fake rumor over and over in thread after thread as if it were true and about to happen, for the last 6 years. Its why several of us keep bringing it up every time discussions about Kennedy's contract comes up. She'll leave when she is ready to, and until otherwise announced that appears to be at the end of the year.

And I would have been surprised if she was fired in 2018, but lets not rehash the last 6 years over again.
So who are you arguing with here?

People wanted her fired…she probably deserved it - the results have been poor - but it was never likely to happen

Well you could believe them…they’re been reporting “difficulties” in multiple segments for two years now in their quarterly calls

You can read the weekly financial articles talking about struggles in their various endeavors

Or you can look at the ticker…where they are at the same price now they were 10 years ago..while the market is up 266%

Not a numbers whizz, huh?

Who said I was arguing? I'm just stating a fact, Pro was peddling this fake narrative for years that Kennedy was about to be fired like any day, and some posters ate it up like it was a truth donut and have parroted it as fact.

Opinions are not facts, just because someone has the opinion that she should be fired based on what they perceive looking from the outside is not truth, its opinion.

I’m just saying tell it to pro…the majority of us who always talk Star Wars here never bought it.

You’re big on that “opinions aren’t facts” stuff…Kampy has been on that 3 wheeled bandwagon today too…

And normally I’d agree in abstract

But consensus becomes reality on this planet…and is NEVER offset by “that’s your opinion…some people liked it”. That’s so mentally weak.

The acolyte - for example - is a certified steaming failure. Close that chapter.
It is what it is…and that is what it is

I'm not going to call out who, and I'm not saying you, but posters that post about SW regularly have parroted that same line about being fired before. So this "majority of us" is not true. It fit the narrative at the time and some people ran with it. Then when it was realized that Pro was selling snake oil it was promptly dropped.

Who is trying to claim that Acolyte isn't a failure for a SW show? Yes there were people that liked it, including myself, but not enough to make it a successful SW show. That is a provable fact based on the numbers, that is not opinion. So I don't know where this "consensus becomes reality" twisting of things is coming from in this context.

I know they did. And they were wrong. The only uncertainty at that time was whether Kennedy was “George’s plant” or “Iger’s Lt”…which brought potential dismissal into play. That’s been mostly answered…she’s not the former…and having her around is in line with the latter’s (pretty disastrous) new corporate direction. There you go.

I’m just chiseling the reality in the stone right now

Cause what will happen…like the movie thread…is this:

1. This thread will die down
2. In a few months…someone will kick it back up and try to “re-interpret” the results .3. And when that happens…it will be “well that’s YOUR opinion” as the fallback cover for the failure

Don’t need a repeat of the “year of the box office bombs” do we?

People are going to compare and contrast things in the future, that is just what humans do, you do the same every time you bring up ST or anything else from the past in any thread that you deem as a failure. No need to gate keep here.

Yeah…but nobody says Ishtar was “misunderstood”. Consensus holds 99% of the time

Some of us don’t want to “let the cards fall” when a pile of mistakes continues to rack up…

…you’ll understand when you get older. 😎👍🏻
I'm already old my friend, more cycles around the sun than OT, which you already knew. But thanks for the condescending jab at my age, as if age has anything to do with this.

I don’t think she has anything to save her this time to justify an extension, it’s been years since they’ve had a successful SW movie or SW D+ show…
Worse, what has she done for lucasfilm in general? Willow? Indy? Anything?
I’ll be absolutely shocked if she isn’t gone at the end of this contract, whether by her choice or Disneys doesn’t really matter, Star Wars needs a new vision though, hers clearly isn’t connecting with the audience.
I agree with all this 100%. The only thing is, I would not be shocked if she's still around next year. If she has any desire to stay, what would shock me is Iger having an actual spine to say no. I'm not sure why she would want to stay, except for maybe ego or to try to prove the doubters wrong. It's clear Lucasfilm needs new vision. Hopefully it actually happens.

It's amazing how KK has lost her way. She was the producer of much of our childhood movies and a heck of a dancer. However she was never a creative. She was just a manager. It reminds me how senior management at a tech company can never figure out how zoom works.
Yup. I'm sure I am considered a Kennedy hater by a lot of people here. I've said many times, she's a hall of fame producer. You can't take any of that away from her. She was part of a big percentage of my favorite movies. But as I've also said, like you, she's not a creative. Not even a little bit. I don't hate her as a person. But I do hate the job she has done for Lucasfilm.

She doesn't understand star wars and that's a pretty big issue for running lucasfilm. Now it's not all her fault. Iger has a lot of blame by not requiring a creative team for star wars to let Kennedy be the business side of things. But he was so hell bent on getting the sequels out asap, road map be damned. And now over a decade later, there's still no overall plan for star wars.
