Has this changeover been scheduled yet? I'd rather not read 320 pages of people debating racism to find out.
There was a recent claim from someone that the replacement with PatF has been canceled but it hasn’t been confirmed and is quite possibly just false.

However, There have been reliable insiders indicating that both the MK and DL plans have hit some snags

I’m really hope it does go forward, just as a new ride. With the parks needing more capacity its aggravating to see a replacement instead of a new build.

Especially when rides like Stitch just sit empty.

Build a new ride. Make it the greatest ride ever made! I’ll happily give Chapek his $15 so I can have the privilege of standing in line.

Just the risk of doing something like this is silly.

What if they replace splash and the new ride is terrible? I don’t mean splash lovers don’t like it. I mean straight up terrible.

That would make for some interesting headlines.

You mean what if they put in a bunch of screens and only 1 animatronic?

What are the odds.

Well let’s look at the latest big “replacement”
With railway. It’s a fun ride. I enjoy it. I would rather have had it built somewhere else and had movie ride refurbed.

If they want me to buy the genie give me a reason too by having enough rides in the park to actually get some value from it.

My understanding on the primary Dragon Tower attraction was that the story conceit was "Evil Dragon is Evil" and we are recruited by bats to get a treasure that the Dragon is protecting. Then the unicorn maze didn't have much other than the Unicorn grotto at the end.

I imagine Dragon Tower would have been a very fun attraction, but I'd be very surprised if there ever was a version of this park's evolution that would include both Dragon Tower and Expedition Everest or even Dragon Tower and the Excavator.

As to the actual fit in the park, @LittleBuford is probably correct. It probably didn't hit any of the core themes of DAK, other than maybe transformation through adventure which admittedly is amongst the more generic of those themes. I highly doubt the intrinsic and superior power of nature concept or personal call to action were ever in play in Beastly Kingdom. Both of those concepts are in play as part of Pandora.
The core myth of the Unicorn is the instructions on how to hunt them for their healing horns. There's a very obvious anti-poaching story to have with an attraction where you have to put in the effort to find a unicorn and spare it.

Look at the thread on SSE. It’s clear the current powers that be do not like dark rides with extensive animatronics. They’re enamored with quick throughput rides lasting less than 5 minutes that rely on screen and projection technology. Any existing dark rides that last 10+ minutes and have tons of AA’s (what with their pesky maintenance) are being phased out. SSE is being left to languish.

fearing American Adventure is on their list for those very reasons. belongs in another thread I know but just adding to your comment.

Does anyone else think that centering a water attraction around an alligator is a bit insensitive and a curious choice, given the tragedy from a few years ago?
Nah. Accidents happen. Just like how soarin plans weren’t changed due 9/11. We have got to stop being so sensitive.

Apologies for the late reply, but allow me to expand on my previous post:
From what I was told, the desicion to redo Space in Tokyo killed remaking Splash over there for good, which in turn severely hurt Orlando (They wanted to have MK's Splash cloned there, but Tokyo told them to bug off) to the point of most likely killing their redo. Then California, IF what I heard was correct, was killed off by other projects taking presidence (Toontown, Tarzan, Tommorowland...)

I was also told that the fact Splash isn't changing wouldn't be announced publicly (It'd just kind of fade out) and that was due to trying to avoid a huge wave of backlash.

Sorry to badger you, but, this brings up a lot of questions:

1. You originally said "insiders"... plural. You have more than one source for this, or, are multiple people relying on one source and they're repeating the one source?

2. Your insiders need to have some really high-up sources in order to know what projects are cut or not. Very few people have that kind of contacts.

3. Your insiders need to have high-up sources at WDW, DL, and OLC. So, it's even more rare to have a source that has first hand knowledge of what's what at three different parks and two different companies. Otherwise, it's just one person who's heard stuff second hand from what the other parks are doing and telling others, and they're all echoing the same source. Are you vetting your source properly that they have first hand knowledge, or, are just 'hearing things'?

4. If you have this kind of insider source, I'm surprised you haven't shared other stuff (or maybe you did and I missed it). Not that you had to, but, it would have helped to know the track record of your source in order to trust it.

5. We heard from our insiders here that OLC rejected changing their Splash because they just don't care. But your source is saying that they're now saying it's a cost issue because of other projects. So, there's an inconsistency here.

6. You're saying that MK's retheme *may* be off, and DL's retheme is definitely off. This is the opposite of what other insiders have said, namely, that the DL retheme was definitely on, but the MK's retheme that may now be off.

Curiouser and curiouser.

I just wish something was announced at this point. It's hard to believe it is now almost 2 years with literally barely any more info than we had 2 years ago. The same convos everyday, I just want a final answer about this. I think if Disney were to announce they will close Splash as Tron opens, that would likely be announced. If they just nonchalantly close the ride, I can't imagine people would be too happy to find out they only have a few months to ride it one final time.

Never said anything about insiders, that's just what the rumor mill was saying last year about Disneyland Splash and... it got a decent refurbishment.
