A woman just threw a drink on another guest. Security has not responded yet, it's been at least 10 minutes
That's $7 gone. Yet another example of careless guest spending lol

Curious to know what the eventual response time is. We witnessed something similar and nobody ever showed up. People around the altercation assisted in calming it down.

Is drink throwing really considered assault? Wouldn't you have to prove malice and intent to harm? Would security really do anything about it anyway if the situation did not escalate?

Here's the way I see it. If I'm wrong @WDW1974 can chime in and correct me. The way these spirited threads work is that 74 begins with a provocative statement about some issues or opinion about WDW or the theme park universe or sometimes something in the real world. He usually pops in late at night (someone should check his fridge for true blood:)). The topic is brought up for discussion or debate. Often times he throws in some nuggets of inside info and will answer questions people have if he knows the answer. The point of the thread is to discuss things not just to dump inside info out there for the masses. Unfortunately, sometimes things get derailed by a troll or a thread drift, but in general the spirited threads usually have some pretty good points on both sides. I know a lot of people are following this thread like Geraldo when he opened Al Capone's vault, but the info people seek isn't going to get out there any faster by badgering our "host".

This and I agree with your point on Uni vs WDW. There is no issue with enjoying both.
I'm convinced that there are plants involved...

...Maybe some palm trees, a couple of ferns, a few daffodils.

A quick and VERY appreciative shout out to @tirian whose comments very much echo those told to me by a Disney exec earlier this week. Anyone who wants to know what is really going on with NGE overall should stop posting, stop debating and read what the man wrote. It is quite accurate with one area I intend to expand upon depending on outside forces.

I'm also reading thru a lot of stupidity, but seriously anyone who doesn't get why peoplemover trains shouldn't be bumping needs a lesson in common sense and that isn't something I am intent on providing.

Finally, I have to give a plug to ''The Spectacular Now'' which is in limited release in NY and LA and will open nationally next week. The co-writer -- Michael H. Weber of 500 Days of Summer fame -- is my good friend's nephew and we are all very proud of him. So, instead of seeing another overrated tent pole, go see this wonderful film that is getting great reviews nationwide.

Oh, and for those keeping track at home, our not so 'wittle EPCOT Explorer has hit Anaheim and is currently in awe of Fantasyland CMs shopping in the Garden Grove Target.

Twitter is gonna be so much fun this week. But did he really turn his phone over the other day when old pal Captain Michael called? Tacky, my boy, and we'll be talking when your vacation is done.

Agreed, I really cant see how it will increase revenue. A MagicBand is really no easier than a credit card, and at the end of the day, there is a limit to what people will spend. That is not suddenly going to change with a band. I do see it perhaps allowing easier spending at waterparks, where guests may not have cash or a credit card at hand. However, is spending at water parks ever going to be that high? I don't think so.

True, Steve, yet this whole NGE was pushed thru using metrics that showed how much more money could be extracted by guests due to some perceived ease of purchase (one that isn't there, I might add) with the bands.

If anyone wonders just how stupid high level execs can be, let this be Lesson 1.

If I, and 99% of people I know, have exactly $1000 to spend, they are not going to spend $1298 because they can swipe their wrist. People may well be dumb, but they are not THAT dumb.

Sometimes I wonder if there is support that having charging ability almost at your fingertips feeds into succumbing to impulse buying a lot easier than even having to pull a card out of your wallet.

It's not. Except for the most mentally feeble in the crowd.

And these bands were sold as a swipe and go and that is not how the system is to be implemented. In reality, the typical transaction will take just as long or long than it did with a simple card.

Sorry if it came off that way, but I certainly didn't mean to badger our host! I was more badgering the thread derailers!

Water parks were the first and only thing I liked about the idea of wristbands...and the only place I'd want to wear one. I think they'd be better than the rubber band and key-chain-size gift card.

I don't know if they're a billion dollars better, though.

I had to comment on this post.

First of all, you're supposed to bump into others on BUMPER cars. Secondly, it doesn't matter if the no one was hurt when the PM cars bumped, it's a safety issue and someone could have been hurt. I can bet the CM(s) got a safety for that. If a car bumps into your car, are you going to smile and wave at the driver who did it, or are you going to be genuinely concerned?

EDIT: Are you seriously comparing getting pregnant to a car bump accident?
No silly...I was comparing almost injured to almost pregnant. I'm not going to waste my time trying to point out the difference. If you want to be upset about my comments, by all means have at it.

This actually gets back to one of the observations that my wife and I made at Portofino Bay and actually all the resorts at Universal, the vast majority of people that were guests there, looked the part. People looked a lot more respectable, had manners, and dignity. I'm not traveling down the wormhole of the whole class system, per se.

For example, I'm a business owner and don't deal with wearing formal attire in my workplace, so I'm never one to be too dressed up, at all. However, whether it's a well cut polo style shirt or properly fitting Lacoste type of tee, that's my general appearance. I take pride in presenting myself well and that's what I noticed with the majority of the guests. It didn't mean that everyone was dressed to the nines, rather just put together and respectful. To be honest, it was very refreshing. It wasn't all too long ago that being well presented wasn't something that was an attribute to only the wealthy, it was a universal thing that the majority of people did.

People dressed better and acted better at UNI. Period. This wouldn't be such an issue except for as long as I've been part of the internet fan community I have heard about the lower level clientele that UNI has supposedly attracted.

It's just hogwash. The lower end clientele is part and parcel of the Walmarting of WDW. The guests at UNI are now higher end.

When I see the Honey Boo Boos at deluxe WDW resorts I used to wonder where they got their money too. But WITHOUT getting the mods knickers in a twist, it's pretty obvious that many of them are living on high paid government and contracting jobs that have opened in the defense sector since 9/11.

There are a lot of examples where moving to cashless and token systems increase spending while reducing loss.

People spend more on credit... It removes barriers like not having the money with you, not enough, etc

For just a quick example... Look at the airlines

I got a jolt on the PM/TTA once. I thought that if I'd been someone with back/neck issues, it could have become a problem. I've been surprised, too, that those cars bump sometimes now. It's not a big whup, IMO, but it is different.
